Re: Buying a cat from a breeder

Hi ooogers we were the same as you we wanted a siamese for the personality and I spent a long time researching, something like Hazels post would have been sooo useful.

HunnyBunny everyone is entitled to their own choices and opinions please do not be rude to those who dont agree with you.

Aww Bless her, fusses to Shelly.

Tell me about it Sarah, he's really testing my nerves atm. I'm on the verge of wrapping him in bubble wrap! But not sure he'd be keen.

Re: Denzel burnt his foot on the stove

I must apologise Diana I replied to you on my mobile before and just realised now that I called you Diane. he's loving all the extra attention and fusses. Every time he gets up high we've been lifting him down so he doesn't aggravate it. He's been very good and when I pick him up and roll him on his...

I was looking for a sock for Denzel poor sausage burnt his paw on the stove, not very badly but still a burn. Whilst looking for socks, I found these http://www.softpaws.com/about.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; anyone seen them before? Not sure they are something i'd l...

Re: Denzel burnt his foot on the stove

Oh poor Denzel and poor you! Little monkey - I wonder what the fascination is! I would get it checked out to be honest, and at the very least phone the vet. It sounds like it is healing and the tea tree will be good, but it's hard to stop a cat licking their paws and I suspect that cat's pads are r...

Denzel burnt his foot on the stove

Some may remember me asking about protecting Denzel from the hot stove when he went to stay with my mother in law. He was there for a whole week whilst I was on holiday no problems. We'd been back for an hour on Saturday and take a pan off the stove and he jumped up in a split second. Grr. He was on...

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

Sounds familiar, Elsworth is getting better but sometimes he just cant help himself and chases the others much to their annoyance. I am sure another Siamese would help give the others some peace but I would worry that the new Siamese would also want to play chase with the mogs. How many cats do you...

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

I am not really sure if old style is classic or apple head. Do you think Denzel will take to another cat easily? I am not allowed a 4th but I would love a friend for Elsworth, he wants to be friends with the other two but they are not having it :-( With moggies he's a bit of a pain, he gets on thei...

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

When he was a few months old we had problems with him eating too fast but not for at least 6 months. He does however eat the high meat wet food so fast that when he sits on my lap after he burps! Not very regal. So classic would be old style? I love the style of Siamese. Did you see the secret life ...

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

its quite hard to tell he's sort of in the middle.

We've cut down to 2 pouches and he's upped the screaming! but he is eating everything by the time the next meal time comes round, I've not noticed his kibble intake increasing either.

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

He's very switched on to routine, he knows when breakfast and dinner time is, when i'm due home, the fact that when he comes in from outside he sits on the stool (aka "the begging stool") to have his collar taken off and receive dentabits. Denzel eats about 2.5 85g sachets a day plus dry f...

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

he's a real pain with food, he picks at it and some of breakfast I put down at 8am this morning will still be there when I pop home for my own lunch at 1:30. He has waitrose kibble which is about 25% meat and as a treat he gets macdonalds (go-cat), he gets bored easily of his wet food so we try to m...

food quantities 11 month old siamese

Hiya

So my boy Denzel is almost 1year old and as I presume he's now nearly fully grown is there any advice on what/how much we should be feeding him?

Currently he has 24/7 supply of dry and a fresh wet up to 3 times a day though I estimate at least 1 sachets worth is wasted per day.

Re: Do I risk introducing a kitten?

If you go ahead with a new kitten I'd be interested to hear how it goes, we have a 11 month old Siamese and we are considering introducing a Siamese kitten (from the same parents but different litter) to him later this year when he will be almost 1 and a half.

Re: Sometimes its kinder to keep your thoughts to yourself!

What a horrible thing to say, she's very pretty, unusual colouring. Well unusual to me, I'm new to cats.

I too was taught, if you cant say anything nice then don't say anything at all.

I think I know the answer but just want to check, obvious;y FIV is feline and cannot be transfered to humans i presume therefore it cannot be transfered to rabbits?

Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

I'm glad Terry is being rehomed to someone :) and keeping Denzel separate to your MIL's cat is a good idea anyway, esp if they don't like each other When someones home they are together, but generally Tigger just gets fed up of Denzel which I'm not surprised Tigger is a senior now and I'd get fed u...

Thanks HRHFluffy, the leaflet that CPS sent me worried me, but i've since googled a few things read the link above, read the cat chatters guide and both of us are feeling better about it. Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

They are definitely wrong here with the issue of cleaning and sharing of bowls. I wouldn't bother showing your mother in law the pdf leaflet as this will clearly be incorrect also. Sadly this same info is what they will be telling would be new owners of Terry which will put them off if they have an...

Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

CPS said: Please don't panic. Yes, you will need to get Denzel tested of course. If it were my cat, I would still let him outside, unless he is a fighter of course. It's difficult to keep them in I know, but if you are worried then this may be your only course of action until he can be tested. If he...

Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

I've also contacted cats protection who have Terry to see what will happen to him and also what they think on those points. Denzel is a typical curious siamese, Terry only scratched him as he was trapped in our home (waiting for CPS) and Denzel walked into the room where Terry was being kept and Ter...

Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

Thanks all for the info, I shall also contact Catwork.

I'm waiting for another call from the vets, to see if:

a - Denzel can still go outside for the next 8 weeks

b - can he stay at my mother in laws with a senior FIV negative neutered male

Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

Terry was an un-neutered tom.

Vet's have said we cant get him tested for 8 weeks (he only got scratched last week) they have also said a small scratch can do it.

Re: worried - Denzel scratched by FIV positive Stray "Terry"

Not sure what will happen to Terry next he was due to be rehomed. The scratch was small on his head just inside his ear. Wasn't something if it was on me I'd wear a plaster for just a bit of savlon cream. My heart stopped when I read the email. They very kindly offered to pay for it but I'm waiting ...
