Re: Cat fountains...

Hello, I can chip in here. I've had two fountains: a plastic Catit Fresh and Clear (possibly discontinued) and a ceramic Petsafe Avalon. The Catit was fiddly to assemble a devil to clean, and it would scum up very quickly. I also think plastic isn't great for cats and can cause acne, so personally I...

Litter infested with bugs

Hello everyone: today, after cleaning litter trays, I poured in new litter from a half full bag, only to fine lots of little mites crawling in it! I checked the cupboard it was stored in and couldn't see any of them, so I assume they originated in the litter bag and none had escaped. However the str...

Ear lump removal: Recovery time?

Hello, back for some advice about the resident menace's cursed ears: After years of itchy ears and gallons of Surolan, the vet decided that the lumps in Phantom's ears had to go. Said lumps were first spotted a while back by the same practice. So on Wednesday past Phants went under the knife (or las...

Re: Water fountains

Hi, I've owned the Catit plastic dome fountain and the Drinkwell Avalon ceramic one. The Catit is fiddly to clean and fill, and gets scummy quickly. I found the plastic deteriorated over time. The Avalon is much easier to clean, but it is HUGE and heavy when full. It's also quite expensive. As for M...

Re: Hard spots on belly EDIT: omg I've forgotten to worm him!

Hi Mary, I'm always getting my worms confused! I tried scratching his belly again, but the trap was primed with predictable results. As for the 'Phantom', nothing as cultured I am afraid; he was just a very elusive stray until he moved in. Though he does get called the Phantom Menace when he...

Re: Feliway ...any good?

I'm very skeptical of feliway and the like: is there a similar pheromone treatment for humans? No, not one that has medical evidence to back it up. It sounds like a 'magic spray' to me, and I think veterinarians should give more behavioral advice and sell less snake oil. Feliway probably does more f...

Re: Please help! I am struggling to get drops into my cats eyes!

Hi Tara, just jumping in until someone with more experience joins in: can you enlist another person to hold him while you stroke his head fur back firmly? Youtube hosts videos showing the general idea of how to do it, but most of the demonstrators are experts so don't worry if you can't do it with o...

Hard spots on belly EDIT: omg I've forgotten to worm him!

The following was before I checked my diary for his worm doses and realised that I am an neglectful idiot. I'll leave it here just incase it's not ringworm, or that it can help anyone else Hi again guys, you are my go to forum for cat help, and my New Year resolution is to spend more time here and ...

Re: Hitting a cat/I stole it

Yes you totally did the right thing. I often wonder if anyone misses Mr Puds, or if he visits those people, but then I catch myself on and remember his untreated ear mites, his flea infestation and finally his limp. I took him to the vet (at this stage I thought I was dealing with a female) and came...

Re: Hello and Sneezy cat help

Just a little update: sneezing has definitely reduced. Could be a coincidence, but the potentially offending fabric conditioner is banned as a precaution.
Thanks for all the help peeps.

Re: Hello and Sneezy cat help

Thanks for replies: Penny may have dropped, we started using fabric softener! He's eating, going out, playing...Going to wash everything twice (sans Comfort) and see what happens. This is how the myth of smelly cat people is perpetuated! I will let you know the outcome, thanks again to the CC commun...

Hello and Sneezy cat help

Hi, I have posted before under a different (and forgotten) user name. I would really like some advice; the resident menace has been sneezing for a week: big wet rippers. He is more clingy and sleepy than usual, but also eating more than usual. Vet trip 2 days ago : she was stumped and gave him a ste...
