Re: Diarrhoea and blood in faeces

I am going through similar with my cat. He has had a combination of blood with firm stools and more recently bloody diarhoah, which he was hospitalised for. He was prescribed metronidazole for one week and is now on steroids for a month. I would suggest taking him to the vet and getting a full blood...

Re: Blood in stool - Newly adopted cat

Hi All, Looking for some support as I don't know where to turn... Wherry is still experiencing blood in his stool and the last couple of bowel movements have been bloodier and more mucusy than previously. He went into the vets over a week ago for US and X-rays - However, it was not possible to go ah...

Re: Blood in stool - Newly adopted cat

So I haven't updated for a couple of weeks... A few days after I saw the vet and she told me about the kidney disease and prescribed metacam, I called into the vet and asked to have a quick word with a vet about the metacam. The vet I saw previously was unavailable (that was a relief as I wanted a s...

Re: Blood in stool - Newly adopted cat

Hi All, So following my last post, the antibiotics that were prescribed seemed to work and then a few days after the course had finished, I started to see blood again, so today I have been back to the vets. The vet prescribed more antibiotics and anti-inflammatories (not sure about this, but that's ...

Blood in stool - Newly adopted cat

8 days ago I adopted a cat from the RSPCA. He was previously a stray and had a serious ear infection in the past - this was fully resolved but it had left him with a head tilt and he is a little wobbly from time to time. Every poo he has had since he was with us was solid but had smears of fresh red...

Re: The loss of my cat Daisy

Hi All, Daisy has been gone for one month yesterday - but it seems so much longer than that. I am doing better than I was for sure, but still can't face looking at pictures of her yet. I can't remember whether I mentioned that we have her ashes back - she is in a lovely casket in the shape of a curl...

Re: I can’t get over the unfairness

Hi Vicky, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, it must have been a big shock. I lost my cat Daisy a month ago - although not as sudden as your loss of Raisin, she went downhill rapidly and unexpectedly. It was a big shock for myself and my partner too - in fact it was the first time I had seen hi...

Re: The loss of my cat Daisy

Thank you so much for all of your kind and thoughtful messages - they really do mean so much. On the face of it, I am doing OK - I have managed to go to work and not break down at all during work time. However, outside of work is harder. My partner has been hit equally as hard as me and we are suppo...

The loss of my cat Daisy

Last Saturday, I had to have my beautiful cat Daisy put to sleep. Myself and my partner were both devastated and are struggling to come to terms with the loss. She went downhill very rapidly, so we were not particularly prepared. I am getting through each day on the whole, but its a struggle. Some o...

Feeling heartbroken

My 12 yo cat Daisy has been through so much in the 16 months since we got her. Nearly a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that she was slightly wobbly when walking. A few days later we were due to go on holiday and I was worried about her, so I took her to the vets the morning we left. The vet said I c...

Re: Food Issues

I read that it could be nausea...she had terrible sickness previously which was stabilised by steroids. I also saw it could mean kidney problems but she isn't drinking anymore than normal and is urinating normally too.

Re: Food Issues

I will try and get her into the vets tomorrow...my gut instinct thinks there is something wrong. I have had to feed her something else to encourage her to eat, hopefully her digestion will be OK. However, she has hardly eaten anything :(

Re: Food Issues

Can anyone offer any advice - do you think she could just be being fussy or something more worrying? I've just given her some non-prescription food - a natural, grain free food, which she has eaten. I only gave her about 10 or so kibbles. Surely this is hopefully better than nothing.

Re: Food Issues

***I just opened a tin of tuna - I didn't give her any tuna, but put the juice in her bowl which she licked up immediately. I tipped some juice over what is remaining of her wet food and she hasn't eaten that...hopefully she will go back later for that. Hopefully the tuna juice wont affect her stoma...

Food Issues

Daisy has been very fussy with her food lately..she is on prescription food due to gastrointestinal problems. She was on Hills D/D, vet changed her to Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Moderate Calorie in about May time. This was fine until a month or so ago...vet suggested changing to regular Royal Can...

Re: Cat stood in paint - urgent

Hi Everyone, Daisy is fine this morning - up to her usual tricks. There thankfully doesn't appear to be any ill effects - which is good because my nerves are shot to pieces after this week! I think the very small amount of paint left on her paws will have hopefully rubbed off now on my long sufferin...

Re: Cat stood in paint - urgent

Thanks as always Lilith! I called the vet - she said I could bring her in, but I said what do you recommend and she said monitor her for 1-1.5 hours and if symptoms call back. I gave her the information on the formulation on the tin. It has now dried on her pads and fur - she is getting VERY angry w...

Thanks

Cat stood in paint - urgent

My cat has just ran through emulsion paint which had been slightly watered down - although some came off onto the floor she still has some on her paws, which I can't get off as she won't allow me to. I think the paint is water based (it washes out of everything like carpet) and contains 1,2 benzisot...

Re: Sore spot on skin

Hi Lilith and All, Just heard back from the vets. The lump they took away is cancer. I am heartbroken. The vet did tell me the type of cancer but I can't remember. Here are the main points: -There were clear margins around the sample that were clear from cancerous tissue - this is potentially a good...

Re: Sore spot on skin

So Daisy went into the vets today and had a lump removed. I have to wait for pathology results to find out what it is - the vet said not to worry at the moment as it could just be a cyst - she said it was easily removed and no problem with her lymph nodes near the site or her jaw as far as they can ...

Re: Sore spot on skin

Thanks Lilith - I find myself a little more at ease now. I just have a week to wait before I take her and then a long wait for results more likely. The antibiotics they gave for the UTI are actually mainly for skin infections, but they maybe needed to be stronger because she keeps upsetting it washi...

Re: Sore spot on skin

Hi Lilith and Booktigger, Thanks so much for the replies - they help so much. I guess I feel so guilty because if its cancer, it will spread quickly and I have left it too long. But as my boyfriend said when it first appeared, you can't run to the vet about absolutely everything - if I did, I would ...

Re: Sore spot on skin

Really need some support at the moment. I'm massively struggling with anxiety and strange low mood. This is compounded by my dreadful worrying and guilt about Daisy. So, I tried the HIbiscrub as Lilith recommended it. However, she just won't let me put it on her, no matter how hard I try. She still ...

Re: Sore spot on skin

I have had the same problem with a few of the vets. The good thi...

Sore spot on skin

Daisy has had a red sore spot directly below her mouth underneath her chin for nearly 3 months now. I didn't immediately take her to the vets as I thought she had scratched it whilst washing and because of the location she seems to 'rescratch' it when she washes. As she is on steroids, I thought tha...

She hasn't drunk much, but is eating fine and I added som...

Re: UTI

She is on prescription food Hills D/D and we are in the process of weaning her onto a Royal Canin prescription food in a hope we can help her lose some weight. The weaning has to be very very gradual, so at the moment she has had a week of literally 3-4 kibbles a day of the new food combined with he...

UTI

Today, I came down at about 6.00am and fed Daisy - she ate her breakfast and I cleared her litter tray and noticed nothing unusual. I came down a couple of hours later and noticed she was grooming her bottom area and going in and out of her litter tray, but didn't seem to do anything. She then jumpe...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...here we go again

I don't weigh out the dry food, but I literally count the kibbles in my hand - I only give her about 6 kibbles around 3 times a day. She has a whole tin of wet food (about the size of a tuna can). Antonio - The symptoms your cat has experienced sound exactly like Daisy. She has vomited around 7 time...
