Re: Loose stools

Thank you for the replies, RuthB thanks for the information, really helpful. He does wander in the day so as you say, who knows what he may have eaten. Unfortunately he turned his nose up at the chicken, I offered a pouch of his usual felix but he only had a couple of mouthfuls, so it seems he's los...

Re: Loose stools

Thanks so much for your helpful reply Lilith. I have cooked two chicken breasts and chopped them up into small chunks, when he next appears I'll see if he'll eat some. I did catch him drinking manky rain water that had collected at the bottom of the slide the other day, I wonder if thats upset him a...

Loose stools

Hi, my male cat has been having loose stools for a couple of days, I keep him in overnight and he has been using the litter tray. No foul smell. Not completely liquid, some small lumps (sorry tmi!) He seems completely well in himself, eating and going outside as normal. Would you be concerned? I was...

Re: Anxious girl cat when boy cat outside

Lilynmitz thank you for your helpful reply. Good to know that you were able to sort it out eventually, it sounds like you were very committed to helping your cats. What you describe does sound very similar, although our girl doesn't go for him outside, only when he comes back in. I think you are rig...

Re: Anxious girl cat when boy cat outside

Well the weeing has stopped but she has now started to attack him when he comes in! Today he wouldn't come in as she was sittng in the kitchen table staring at him. I had to take her in the lounge and shut the door before he'd come in, I then distracted both of them with dreamies (a particular obses...

Re: Anxious girl cat when boy cat outside

OK thanks for those tips, I will look into the urine remover. Although I put the doormat through the wash, she keeps sniffing it, so can obviously still smell it. Thanks again I appreciate the helpful advice :)

Re: Anxious girl cat when boy cat outside

Thanks for your reply Ruth, I did wonder about putting a litter tray there, but it is near their food which I thought was a no-no. Although the fact that she wees there probably means she's not bothered! You could well be right that she is concerned about defending the home. They are a bit of a funn...

Anxious girl cat when boy cat outside

I recently posted for advice about letting my two rescue cats out for the first time. It is going well, we've been taking it slowly and so far so good. However there is a slight problem. Boy cat is by far the more adventurous, he has been happily going off exploring for half an hour or so and coming...

Re: Recent Loss - gain.

Hi cookie and sorry for the loss of your dear friend. I can completely relate to that feeling of needing to fill the gap left when you lose a cat. We had our old girl until the age of 18, she was a little fighter and kept going with arthritis, hardly any teeth, and a heart murmur, until eventually w...

Good quality wet food

Hi folks I have had some great advice on these boards so I'm back! Our two adopted cats have now been with us for 3 weeks. They are three and a half, up to date with worming, flea treatment and vaccinations. We have been feeding them Felix pouches, which was the food they were given at the rescue, p...

Re: Letting cats out for the first time - nervous!

Yes my old girl was like that, she never wandered far, her favourite spot was on some sleepers in the front garden in a patch of sun. I loved that cat. Such a shock when the new cat just didn't settle and eventually voted with her feet... Our Two new cats are already such a part of our family, such ...

Re: Letting cats out for the first time - nervous!

Meriad that is a really good idea :) I think that could work as our cats are so greedy! Maybe I will wait until this cold snap is over. Also I am definitely thinking of keeping them in after tea so I know they are safe. Thanks for all the tips everyone.

Re: Letting cats out for the first time - nervous!

Thanks everyone for the advice, really helpful. Will definitely keep them in for another couple of weeks and let them out before a mealtime. They do have regular mealtimes although they are rather obsessed with food and would happily be fed any time of the day! We can't cat proof our garden as it is...

Re: Letting cats out for the first time - nervous!

Hi Batterseagal and thanks for your reply. That sounds like a good approach. Our cat that went missing was such an adventurous cat who seemed to have no fear of the outside world! I think these two will be a bit more cautious so hopefully that will work in my favour. Also I was told to let them out ...

Letting cats out for the first time - nervous!

Long post, sorry! I am after a bit of advice please about letting my two cats out for the first time. They are a boy and girl, around 3 1/2, and we adopted them just over two weeks ago. I was thinking of waiting until we have had them 3-4 weeks, but I am really nervous. The reason for this is that o...

Cats play fighting - reassurance/advice please!

Hi. We have recently adopted two cats, we collected them on New Year's Day so they've only been with us a few days. They are both 3 and a half, a boy and a girl, and although not siblings they have always been together. Their owner became unwell and was unable to look after them so they were returne...

Re: Too soon to get another rescue?

Thank you so much for your reply Lilith I really appreciate your kind words. I have contacted a rescue who are going to speak to me in the New Year. I think it will be a case of waiting a little longer and then of course waiting for the right cat or cats to come along. I have looked at cats for sale...

Re: Too soon to get another rescue?

Thank you Ruth for your well considered reply. I really appreciate you saying that we are not to blame, I do feel responsible and had assumed that Lottie had found her forever home with us, just as our dear old Molly had before her. To add a little more detail, Lottie had been relishing her freedom ...

Too soon to get another rescue?

Hi cat lovers I could really do with some advice. Short back story - we had a rescue cat who lived to 18 years old, and sadly had to have her put to sleep when she went into chronic heart failure. Obviously it was awful but we knew we had given her a long and happy life. I hated the house without a ...

Re: How to move on

Thanks for asking Lilith, we have put posters up which have led to a possible sighting not far from us. We are away this weekend but have shared the news on the local lost cats Facebook page, and my parents are around should we get any further news. The place she has been possibly seen is by the woo...

How to move on

Hi, I am posting on here because I could really do with some support following my cat's disappearance on Weds (7th Dec). I have done all I can in terms of posters, flyers, facebook, contacting the microchip company etc. Knocked on all the neighbours doors asking them to check garages etc. Now its ju...
