Re: Ill after eating grass

Well ruby is totally back to normal so I think it must have been something she ate in the garden or the fact she ate so much.

Re: Ill after eating grass

Thank you. She is drinking water, has followed me into the garden (tried to eat more grass) and was rolling around. She has eaten a tiny bit now so am hoping she'll eat more later.

I did ring the vets and they said if she isn't still being sick then just to keep an eye on her.

Re: Ill after eating grass

Morning,

Well she's definitely brighter. Crying at me as usual and up when I came downstairs but still not interested in food even ham or cheese which is her favourites. I think I'll wait today and see if she eats as generally she seems better x

Re: Ill after eating grass

Yes always a weekend! She has bought up fur but usually after eating grass and being sick she's not like this. I was at work and my partner said that she ate a lot of it. She's purring and responding when I tickle her under her chin but other than that she's extremely quiet and weak. Im not sure if ...

Ill after eating grass

Hello,

My cat was eating a lot of grass today and was sick a lot. This evening she's off her food and very quiet. Has anyone experienced this with their babies?

Thanks in advance x

Re: Cat off food and has diarrhoea

Hello,

Yes she does go in the garden but is basically a house cat. I wormed her earlier in the year but you've just reminded me she's probably overdue. Do worms cause this? X

Cat off food and has diarrhoea

Hello, not been on here since my boy cat had ckd. My girl has been off her food since yesterday and has diarrhoea on and off. Very mucousy and some blood in it. Have an appointment with vets tomorrow but wondering if anyone else's cats have had this?

Re: Cat recently diagnosed with CRF. Values are Ok, but he seems super lethargic

So sorry to hear your cat has crf but good news is it's at it's early stage and many cats live for years with this illness. I agree that the lethargy shouldn't be an issue at this stage. Could it be the medicine causing it? Or perhaps the stress of the vet visits? When you first find this out it's s...

Re: Is it time?

I've had my beautiful boy put to sleep. Today I found him in a neighbour's garden and when I bought him home he just sat in front of the water fountain with his head basically in it. I made the decision as he looked so sad and as its only something that will progressively get worse I couldn't let hi...

Re: Is it time?

So sorry you've had to go through it too. Murray is the same. One minute I see my old Murray and the next he's hiding. He's very skinny and acts as though he's senile but he's been like that for a few months now. He looks bright though and runs about from room to room (that's an example of the weird...

Re: Is it time?

Thank you for your replies. This morning I've gone down to a mess as he's had a bad tummy  and now he's back sat in the garden. My partner says he looks terrible and I sort of agree but then see a glimmer of the Murray I know again. What makes it worse is that I'm going away next week so he'll ...

Is it time?

Hello, I really need some advice. My cat was diagnosed with kidney failure in December and has been going along nicely up until 2 weeks ago. He now just sits in the garden and doesn't come in unless he runs up stairs to sit in the bath or I get him and put him on my lap. He doesn't come to me when I...

Re: Sub Q

I have been thinking about trying the dry renal food but mixing with wet food? I'm putting warm water in his food, he has a water fountain plus I let the tap run and put him next to it and he has a good drink. I'll take a look at the link about wet food though - thank you marla. I will definitely as...

Re: Sub Q

The renal food does not look appetising at all! I think for Murray as he's moving into stage 3 it can give them longer but I'd rather he enjoys what he eats. I've read something about fish intake somewhere and it's not supposed to be great for them. Luckily Murray prefers the meat ones (at the momen...

Re: Sub Q

Hi Mark, thanks for the informative reply :) The vets are talking about water injections under the skin so it would be as you've done before. Is it easy to do? Is it a daily thing? The vets were supposed to be calling me back but 4 days and still waiting  I've been checking his hydration by li...

Re: Sub Q

Hi Jan, sorry that Blackie has this too. He sounds good though, it's such a relief when they eat! I've been adding warm water which he licks up but has started walking away from the food. Every time after mixing the kidney support med, the phosphorus binder and water into his food he will walk away....

Re: Sub Q

It certainly is that  I feel heartbroken. I'm trying to be glad that I have been his mum and know he's had a lovely life but it's terrible. We have such a bond and so much has happened in the time I've had him. I'm going to try giving fluids. He does seem happy but not as active but I want to f...

Re: Sub Q

I might give the dry food a go. Obviously I love my cat and am doing all i can for him but i keep spending so much on foods, my partner is not happy! I'm also picking up the binders today so hopefully that will help. The vet says it will do half the job the renal food does. They have also given me a...

Sub Q

Hello, my cat who has kidney failure has become slightly dehydrated again. The vets have said I can administer fluids at home - has anyone any experience with this? Am I just putting off the inevitable (dying from this) or is it worth giving it a go? He's happy enough, being a very fussy eater thoug...

Re: CKD Stage 2

Hi Jan, It's funny (well not funny but you know what I mean!) you should say about the creatinine level as my vet said about it yesterday. It sounds like Murrays is at quite a bad level. Glad your cat is doing brilliantly. You're so right, the shock has been terrible. I've got 2 cats, 1 dog, 2 dwarf...

Re: CKD Stage 2

Hi ladies, Back from vets. He's not dehydrated and has put on weight since leaving hospital. He seems to be constipated so they've given me medicine for that and an appetite stimulant. She said tonight to try some more food. As soon as we got home he was hungry and has eaten quite a lot! :P but I th...

Re: CKD Stage 2

I've made an appointment with the vets for 4.30 but will go home at lunchtime and see how he is. I'm going to buy some tuna in spring water and tesco chicken roll! I've read about that on a few different sites actually! I feel so sad for him, I'm just heartbroken. The looks he is giving me is so sad...

I'm going to ring the vets and talk to them. I don't want him to be miserable.

CKD Stage 2

Hello, I was wanting some advice about my cat Murray. He's a 12 year old British Blue and is like a child to me! Over the weekend he became extremely lethargic. I took him to the vets and after tests was told he had chronic kidney disease with possibly an acute infection too. He was on fluids and fo...
