Re: Spaying
We went for a check up today at the vets so they could see how her wounds healing and they were very pleased and said it's healing really well. Just got to carry on with the Loxicom till it's all gone and she should be good to rough house with her brother again by next week :D Receptionist and the v...

Re: Spaying
Aww, great news :D They usually do sail through it, but always a worry until they've actually had the op. Yes, and then they come home and drive you bonkers ... as Booktigger says and as the late great TS Eliot puts it - They will do As they do do - And there's no doing anything about it! Little ho...

Re: Spaying
My Ria was spayed at 6 months, brought home in the afternoon after being done in the morning. I don't know if she was given any painkillers at the vets, but certainly nobody suggested that I should be giving her any, and she didn't seem to be in any discomfort. It must just be the preference of eac...

Re: Spaying
I'm surprised they have sent her home with painkillers, mosr8cats are fine without them. As for keeping them quiet, it's impossible We never got any pain killers for our boy when he was done so I was a bit surprised at first but just figured it's because female spay is a more invasive surgery and t...

Re: Spaying
Lexis spaying went fine, she was in yesterday morning and out by late afternoon, no trouble for the vets and much braver than her mummy would be ! She's got to have Loxicom for the next 5 days to keep her free of pain and just generally not overdoing it or rough housing with her brother. Trying to k...

Re: Spaying
Hi Gill, glad everything's fixed up :) That's interesting about the tail; I once knew a cat with the same sort of tail - it went right over in a roll like a lizard's, though it could straighten out if she wanted it to. She still went out, though, and got up on high fences; the tail never seemed to ...

Re: Spaying
So we have been to the vets tonight and Lexi is booked in to be spayed next Friday. They have told us her teeth are not quite alined so are going to look at them whilst she's under anaesthetic and possibly she may need some out if they don't right themselves. What was more upsetting to hear however ...

Re: Felix grain free? Massive diarrhoea issues!
I think some cats can just be intolerant to certain foods, my older cat started to become intolerant to fish based foods for example and would be throwing up so we took him off it and now only feed him meat biscuits and wet food. He also can't have whiskers as it gives him the runs.

Re: Spaying
Thanks for all the replies, think we will call the vets early September and see what they say as they had said at her last check up she needs to be 5 months old but they may do it slightly before. I am wanting it done the first week in September so I can be home with her as I go back to college duri...

Spaying
Our new little girl will be 5 months on the 19th September. I was hoping to get her spayed before I go back to college at start of September as my schedule when I go back is going to be hectic and my partner works. Just wondering if we did take her at the start of the month how likely would they be ...

Re: Integrating new kitten into one cat household
Hi, reading my post on here regarding exact same issues may help you as people given me some really good advice. I also wanted to get a kitten as a companion for my 3 year old male tabby as I am soon to be back at college again 4 days a week and my partner works full time. We have feliway friends di...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
Our Buttons (male, neutered) does exactly this to Fidget (female, neutered). He would bite her neck, stand over her, pad his back legs but not actually be doing anything to her. Several times a day, we would have to tell him off. We got him neutered at about 6 months when he was literally dumped on...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
Hi Gill, yes, I've known neutered males do this to a female in call, and they've shown no interest after the girl's been spayed. Your girl's a bit young to be giving off sex pheromones or whatever they call them - but you never know. I once had a Siamese who started calling at 4 months! I'v...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
So we are now completely convinced this mounting and pinning behaviour is sexual aggression as he is becoming aroused after he does it and he's not being nasty he just mounts her in the position they would for mating which she hates and will squeak loudly, he is neutered but I know from doing my res...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
She's been to the vets and vet said she's doing fine also recommend we get feliway friends diffuser so we've ordered one. Said if that doesn't calm things down then go down the route of making him indoor/outdoor.

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
Sorry Gill, I never saw your post on Monday. Yes, it does sound like a dominance thing, and also I feel at the moment he sees her as a toy, or almost, dare I say it, nearly prey, especially in view of his trying to carry her off. This isn't too unusual; I used to breed Siamese and one of my older o...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
Major setback today after relatively peaceful day yesterday in that older cat attached agressivly for first time and was really going at kitten kicking her with his back legs. We are now considering make older cat who only goes out when we let him permanent indoor/outdoor as our hope is it will give...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
Wow. He IS rough, isn't he? And just look at little missis enticing him, little baggage :D However, she will grow - and he'll get a shock, because if she's this bold already, she's going to become as big a thug as he is. Also, in the second video you can see him grip her neck - and then pull back, ...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
Thanks for all the replies really helpful, that's what we are hoping that as she gets bigger she will give as good as she gets. It's funny you should mention about her going back for more as my partner picked up on this that sometimes she will gode him into it and wiggles her bum then kind of pounce...

Re: Older cat and kitten advice needed
What happens if you don't shout at him to let go? If she squeaks at him will he eventually release his grip on her? It does sound like they're getting on well though :) Not immediately no hence the shouting which he then see's as he's done wrong and will get off. We are using a spray bottle now too...

Older cat and kitten advice needed
Hi all, firstly apologies if I ramble on as I've only just joined today. We already had a 3 year old resident rescue cat named Mully who we have had since he was 10 weeks old and after much debating ( we were going to do it last year but decided to wait a year) we decided to adopt a little female ki...
