Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Well, the mackerel tabby is one of the dominant coat patterns, so not surprising. Although when I saw the first pic of Mabel and Jasper I think I said I thought they looked special, spotted? It's that flat, short, shiny coat that breaks the pattern up; my Molly sometimes looks the same. (I've alway...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Interesting Here is a photo I took today of Jasper and Morgana. Morgana has exactly the same Mackerel markings as Jasper with very distinctive body stripes, ring tail and spotty belly. 64285935_2291569831105779_6834595326574198784_o.jpg My knowledge of genetics is limited - very limited but I find i...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

:o ! A marvellous offer - but one I think you're wise to turn down - I would have thought a one to one home would be needed for that Bengal, to bring her round and regain her trust; not the right cat to join an evolving multicat household where group dynamics are only just settling down ... I can i...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi Dave I’ll let more experienced posters on Bengals comment. I understand though they like to be head honcho in group dynamics. Vivian The decision has already been taken - NO (sadly) Unfortunately this little lady was acquired as it was a "fashionable" cat with little thought about what it needed...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

As expected this past week has been a difficult for everyone. The heating engineers were scheduled for 2 days but it took 3 in the end which Mia did not like at all and the kittens spent most of the time confined in the bedroom. Hendrix was a superstar though acting as baby sitter most of the time a...

Re: Looking for a cat trap for local stray tom

Hi and welcome

Try contacting the local Cats Protection agency or another rescue organisation. They are quite likely to have traps and also the experience to trap the cat.

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi Dave no need to tell you but as those little uns are young & you’ve netted your garden they’re safe aren’t they? Pebbles has Oriental in her & she’s very talkative with a demanding meow & very much the observer. Another reason why I had my pergola enclosed with cat netting was if I had trades in...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

This pair certain "talk" and their mum - and Jasper in particular - have a very strange voice. There was a suggestion that there may be some Bengal in there somewhere but I am not that sure. Morgana is the interesting one to me - Her eyes are totally different to the rest of the litter and her Mum a...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

There's only one word to describe that - AWWWWWWW!!!! :D Those little darlings have definitely got Oriental blood - the ears ... :) Hendrix has really been a superstar and has been baby sitting while the heating engineers have been here for 3 days! Oriental??? any suggestions? they certainly make s...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Aww, they're all so gorgeous! :D Good luck with the engineers and I hope they're considerate about keeping outer doors closed and not leaving booby traps for the cats (such as raised floorboards.) Be firm! :) thankfully no floorboards have to come up but they will be in every room in the house with...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

What a happy update! It must be a huge relief to you too, to have them all so comfortable together. Happy update and a good start particularly after Hendrix got over his own self importance! Many challenges ahead though as we doubt the 2 kittens will stay as close as the first 2 weeks. We now often...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi Dave I’ve caught up on Mia Ch3.. those kittens are gorgeous. Reminds me of when I bought Harper home. She & TC bonded immediately & I often found TC asleep on the lounge with Harper curled up in his arms. He often washed her & still does. I always smile when I see them & Bentley together. Alas S...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

The kittens are now 12 weeks old so they went back to the vets yesterday for a health check, second vaccinations and a discussion about neutering. They certainly have come a long way in the past 3 weeks with Jasper putting on over 600g while Morgana Violet has put on well over 400g. Jasper has visib...

Re: Cat Proofing

ThorpeDave and Kay - I missed those photos - those gardens look great :D I recognise the coir mat - B&Q, yes? They've got quite a range starting at £7 if I'm not mistaken, which is pretty cheap compared to conventional pet products ... and my 'new' staircarpet, which is beginning to look a little w...

Re: Large cat flap selective on exit needed

Just a long shot - have you contacted SureFlap to ask if the dual scan pet door is in the pipeline?

Their customer service is excellent and may be able to offer you a solution. I had a custom built cat flap made by them but now need a pet door as my 11 month old kitten is rather large!

Re: Cat Proofing

that looks very neat Dave - I reckon they'll soon sort that out when they all have access - I think you will find they will want to lie in the shade more than the sun, and I have found simple decking slabs make cheap and popular place for mine to lie on, and scratch too a water feature would give t...

Oh the coir mat, the coir mat! Turned upside down I'm presuming, for claws to get a better purchase?

Just a good quality doormat the right way up - but a very well known DIY store does this one

Re: Cat Proofing

I put trellis panels diagonally over two corners in my enclosure, which allows me to put a high cat climbing tower underneath without fear of escape, and also allows me to grow clematis up the fence and over the trellis, which provides nice dappled shade for the cats Any chance of a picture? Re: Cat Proofing

After cat proofing our garden, I quickly realised that the cats felt as though they were imprisoned. So I started to think what I could do to ease this feeling. Both Mia and Hendrix like to get high so, I put in some platforms and some catnip plants :D The platforms allow them to see over the bounda...

My cats have always, always had the run of the house, and they go wherever they please and sleep wherever they please. It is, after all, their home as well as mine.

My cats allow me free run of the hose too - It is THEIR house and I just live here and serve them the best I can ! :)

Re: Next Door's Cat Eating Our Cats' Food

As mentioned by others, getting your cat micro chipped and installing a microchip controlled cat door would solve quite a number of problems. Quite simply their cat could not enter your house and steal food. I would also strongly recommend that your neighbor has their cat neutered. This will reduce ...

Re: Problems introducing kitten to older cat

I will also add that while Feliway can help it is not the miracle cure some of the adverts make out. Agreed and I don't trust the slight burning smell. Our vet recommended the Pet Remedy spray and plug-in and I felt it had more effect. Also it burns at a lower temperature and doesn't give off that ...

What a difference a week makes! Jasper and Morgana Violet continue to do very well. Growing, playing and exploring. Both have gained over 300g since their arrival with Jasper developing in other areas too! The kittens continue to go in their pen at night for their own safety and they still do not ob...
