Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi there Dave, sorry I've not been about much owing to personal chaos but the cats are fine. Good to hear about your guys. Any photos? I'm curious about Morgana's coat pattern - did those tabby markings persist? Fusses to her, and Hendrix and beautiful Mia too :) Morgana's marking are certainly sti...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Well it certainly has been a long time since I last posted, for which I apologise. To be honest there has not been a lot to report. Morgana Violet has now also been spayed with, thankfully, no problems MIA - continues to amaze. Not only is she more settled she is now playing with Nendrix and the 2 k...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Jasper was back at the vets yesterday for his first check-up and they are happy with the wound and how it is healing. Jasper and Morgana were both also wormed. His second and - hopefully - final check-up will be next Friday They will be back in another month for worming and, probably, a pre-neuterin...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

I can understand that sometimes you have to wait, there was one time when a dog was rushed in choking and had to go straight into emergency surgery and they had to call another vet in to cover. However the surgery used to run to time very well, I can only think they were very good as working out ho...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Poor lad it seems he has been really put through the mill with it, hopefully he will be feeling more himself and calmer today. A good vet is worth their weight in gold. When my parents retired and were looking to move and downsize it came down to a matter of they were I think we are getting there n...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Oh no, poor guy - and poor you. I've no direct experience of this, but I've heard of cats reacting to anaesthetic/sedatives and becoming manic. I hope it's leaving his system now. Your vet sounds very thorough. But what dreadful luck on top of that worrying operation - hope things are calmer now an...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Had a really bad night with Jasper. When we got home with him he was very weak and could not stand up properly. He had refused food at the vets. After a small amount of food he started to pick up then had a larger meal later and he seemed OK but then got very agitated. Normally when we put him in hi...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Ouch! Poor chap! I believe it's fairly common - I once heard of a cat who had lost one down his trouser leg ... Let's hope the only harm is to your wallet, but he's young enough to bounce back, bless him. Fusses and love to him and to the rest of the gang. :) It affects 1 or 2 in every 100 cats and...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Poor Jasper I find taking cats to the vets for Neutering a very stressful process following the trauma we went through with Stealth in 2017/18. After Jasper had been at the vets for less than an hour the phone rings and my heart sank - it was the vet Jasper is suffering from the genetic condition &q...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Good old Mia - I confess to being on her side; she is Senior Cat and Hendrix and Co are there by her gracious permission. Kittens going out ... since your garden's enclosed that's not too much of a worry - yes, I too have had to escort intruders out; sometimes they've had the intelligence to use th...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Nothing majorly significant to report this week and all seems to be going in the right direction. MIA - Mia continues to progress - slowly - and something is brewing with her. There is never a sudden change with Mia and everything happens very gradually. Since the kittens have arrived, Mia seems to ...

Re: Cat Proofing

Still not had an escape BUT we have had a break-in the Cat that originally bullied Mia out of her home managed to get in, Rolled around on the cat nip then spent 4 hours trying to get out and couldn't! Mia and Hendrix were acting very strangely on Wednesday morning but we could not see anything. The...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

If that coat pattern persists she will be quite a cat! I once knew a rescue worker who did just that; all her cats were rescued, many ex-feral, and, I don't know how it came about, she had contact with an agency and her cats modelled cat flaps and that sort of thing and even did a little television...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Well, the mackerel tabby is one of the dominant coat patterns, so not surprising. Although when I saw the first pic of Mabel and Jasper I think I said I thought they looked special, spotted? It's that flat, short, shiny coat that breaks the pattern up; my Molly sometimes looks the same. (I've alway...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Interesting Here is a photo I took today of Jasper and Morgana. Morgana has exactly the same Mackerel markings as Jasper with very distinctive body stripes, ring tail and spotty belly. 64285935_2291569831105779_6834595326574198784_o.jpg My knowledge of genetics is limited - very limited but I find i...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

:o ! A marvellous offer - but one I think you're wise to turn down - I would have thought a one to one home would be needed for that Bengal, to bring her round and regain her trust; not the right cat to join an evolving multicat household where group dynamics are only just settling down ... I can i...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi Dave I’ll let more experienced posters on Bengals comment. I understand though they like to be head honcho in group dynamics. Vivian The decision has already been taken - NO (sadly) Unfortunately this little lady was acquired as it was a "fashionable" cat with little thought about what...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

As expected this past week has been a difficult for everyone. The heating engineers were scheduled for 2 days but it took 3 in the end which Mia did not like at all and the kittens spent most of the time confined in the bedroom. Hendrix was a superstar though acting as baby sitter most of the time a...

Re: Looking for a cat trap for local stray tom

Hi and welcome

Try contacting the local Cats Protection agency or another rescue organisation. They are quite likely to have traps and also the experience to trap the cat.

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi Dave no need to tell you but as those little uns are young & you’ve netted your garden they’re safe aren’t they? Pebbles has Oriental in her & she’s very talkative with a demanding meow & very much the observer. Another reason why I had my pergola enclosed with cat netting was if I h...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

This pair certain "talk" and their mum - and Jasper in particular - have a very strange voice. There was a suggestion that there may be some Bengal in there somewhere but I am not that sure. Morgana is the interesting one to me - Her eyes are totally different to the rest of the litter and...
