Help!!!! I adopted a wonderful 6 yr old cat from my local shelter she has some problems, only 2 teeth, hip issues, and may have some neurological issues. We are going to the vet next week! But in the meantime she has started howling/meowing constantly, she is still super playfull and acts like she ...

Re: Puking food
Hiya and welcome, Is the puking behaviour something new? Has he always done it off and on? My current rescue boy 14 year old Spirit is such a food oriented cat that I actually have to split each meal into two.. so half a sachet.... wait half an hour the other half etc... If I don't he often will thr...

Re: Any Ideas ??
Sounds like it could be. I have been working hard with Molly on accepting some help with grooming, she is 15 and podgy and has a thick coat, so she is vulnerable to getting these patches in the same places. I have succeeded in getting her to accept a toothbrush with quite stiff bristles, as long as...

Re: Any Ideas ??
Those look very similar to a short haired cat's mats. Do you brush him? If you brush or stroke him firmly, do those areas give up a lot of loose hair and a little dandruff? That is also a classic area where older, fatter or stiff cats struggle to groom properly. Even if you can't feel a bump, if th...

Any Ideas ??
Just noticed today that my 14 yr old rescue boy Spirit has two distinct areas, one at the base of his tail and the second a bit further up his spine that have become lighter. Nothing has changed, still himself in all cheeky aspects. Anyone have any ideas why? I've had cats most of my life and not see...

Hiya...
It could just be something as simple as a hemorrhoid.
Hard to say in a 17 yr old cat.
If concerned I'd consult your Vet for peace of mind.

Re: First time pet loss
Lost our six year old rescue Carter last night, had to make the hardest decision to put him down as he was bleeding from his liver. Could have spent thousands stabilising and diagnosing him, but if (as the vet thought) it was cancer, the prognosis was bleak anyway. I was convinced we had made the r...

Hiya, I'm in the Fife region of Scotland.. I'd suggest calling rescues in your and surrounding area.. Due to covid a lot of the them aren't putting all their cats on their websites.. They may have different procedures re visiting etc.. My rescue boy that adopted me 6 years ago this summer chose me f...

Re: SUDDEN UNEXPECTED DEATH OF ELDERLY CAT
My sincere condolences on the loss of your furry family member. It is soooo hard when we have lost them even more so when it's unexpected. Almost 6 years ago now my 15 year old boy Feadan died quite suddenly and unexpectedly.. I had been at work.. nothing different in the morning both he and my then...

Re: Struggling to cope with sudden loss of elderly cat
I completely understand where you are coming from... Death of our beloved furry family members are NEVER easy. When it's sudden and unexpected it defintely makes it harder to understand/cope with.. In Sept it will be 6 years since I lost my very affectionate, loveable rougue of a boy very unexpected...

Re: My vet has heard a grade 1 heart murmur in my cat β should my cat have further tests performed?
Agree with others that have said I'd not do further workup unless it worsens and/or your cat becomes symptomatic. Grade one is the lowest on the scale and many cats have it without even being diagnosed . My cat Midnight was diagnosed as a 12 week old kitten and lived a long and happy life until age ...

Re: Heart Murmur - looking for reassurance please!
My wee black panther Midnight ( who has gone over the bridge last year) had a mild heart murmur from the time I got him as a kitten.. It never caused ANY issues. He was almost 18 when I had to have him put to sleep due to end stage renal failure complicated by him being hyperthyroid. His heart murmu...
