Re: I keep dreaming of him

I very much believe in dreams being signs or messages. Maybe that sounds a bit airy fairy, but oh well ;) Perhaps Bertie was't refusing to come in. Maybe he wanted to but couldn't because it's not possible to be with you physically anymore. Either way, he wouldn't be angry as you did what was best f...

Re: Doubts about cremation

Everyone is different when it comes to death and griefing. Some people want to keep hold of something "physical" and others don't feel the need; neither is right or wrong, we're all different :) When my boy Charlie had to be pts, I couldn't bear not to bring him home. I didn't want to bury...

Re: Stage 4 kidney disease and diet

My Charlie persevered with the Hills KD food for quite some time, but he kept losing weight and was clearly not eating as much as he should. In the end I mixed half the renal food with normal senior cat food and that made a difference. It wasn't ideal for his kidneys, but I reasoned that if he was e...

Re: Gutted and nesting support

So sorry for your loss, Lowkey. You did your very best for Oscar and at the end he was comfortable and peaceful. A truly selfless act. I had to have my boy Charlie pts on new year's day. Like you, I'd had a few years of being back and forth at the vets with tests etc. I never expected to lose him so...

I can't add much to what has already been said. I'm sorry for your loss and like everyone here, I relate to your pain. I lost my beautiful boy Charlie on new year's day, albeit under difference circumstances. Like you, there are days when I feel "okay" and yet I feel I'm betraying him beca...

Re: Cat started peeing on carpet

There could be many possible explanations as covered in the link that Janey provided. Seeing as he was possibly in a car accident a few years' ago it may be necessary to rule out anything neurological. Either way it doesn't sound like he's a happy cat at the moment so as Janey said, I would take him...

Re: Sudden Personality/Temperament Change in Cat

I'm not a cat behaviour expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have to monitor the behaviour of people as part of my job and see what the triggers might be to their different behaviours, some of which can be very aggressive. I guess there could be a number of things affecting your cat's ...

Re: Had to say goodbye to our Beautiful Boy

Hi Jo, Thanks for your reply and so sorry for your loss. Time does indeed fly. Finding your cat's whisker is a precious thing. I found a couple shells of Charlie's shedded claws and put these in a little box along with some bits of fur. I'm getting more used to Charlie not being around, but it doesn...

Re: Had to say goodbye to our Beautiful Boy

Today has been difficult, perhaps because it's the weekend and I've not got work to distract me. I woke up and fed my dog, took in the silence of the house and started crying. I did go out to see a friend today and it was nice to chat to her, so that was a distraction. I also took my unopened cat fo...

Thank you but there is no problem with him outside to per. I don't need a litter tray. Thats not the issue here. The issue is for him to be able to go outside and enjoy himself when he wants to e.g. early hours of the morning he likes to go outside not necessarily to pee but to chase insects and hu...

Re: Cat flap issue

Welcome Katrina :) I can't give advice on the cat flap I'm afraid as my boy Charlie would just sit by the back door and meow when he wanted to go out. In the eight years I had him I only ever saw him pee in the garden once . He would always go back into the house from the garden to use his litter tr...

Your kitties are gorgeous, Sue. How old are your kittens?

My Charlie never seemed bothered with our Christmas tree. I suspect climbing it would have been too much effort for him

I'm sorry for your loss, Issi. I'm early stages into my experience, but I totally agree that we all grieve differently. Thanks so much, Issi. Yours and other people's responses are really helpful. I love the image you conjured in my mind of sliding a yorkshire pudding to your Gandhi! Your Tommy clearly had good taste in meat! Bless him! I'd left an empty pizza box on the floor in the kitchen once as I needed to break it up to fit it in the bin. I came back into the kitchen a little while later and all I could see is Charlie's rear end poking out from the box. Luckily it was empt...

Had to say goodbye to our Beautiful Boy

Hi everyone, it's my first time here. My husband and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to have our beautiful cat Charlie put to sleep yesterday. Not the start to 2018 that we expected. I got him as a rescue cat in 2009, so we're unsure exactly how old he was, but we think he was about 13/14 y...
