Re: Naughty Cat

I have always been at home as I am retired and I have been shielding all along. When my partner went to work again she used to wait at the door for him to come home. She really comes to life when I am about to go to bed and plays naughty games, I know this is normal behaviour for a cat but she has c...

Naughty Cat

Dappy is just over three years old and previously she has been a model cat, even living in a cage for over six weeks when she was injured. I am not sure if this might be to do with the with lockdown as we are at home, but she is being very difficult. She is jumping on work surfaces, on the dining ta...

Re: My cat is caged for six weeks; both feeling desperate

Thank you for your replies, it is good to hear from cat owner who have faced similar issues. I went to the pet store to get an attachable water bowl today and Dappy worked out how to drink from it with her cone straight away, even the vet was impressed. I have put a toy in the cage with her on other...

My cat is caged for six weeks; both feeling desperate

Our year old female had a run in with a fox or dog a fortnight ago. She had surgery for wounds and dislocations and has been prescribed six weeks cage rest. Prior to this Daphne was an extra active cat with a wide territory for a female. She is finding confinement difficult, she is eating well thoug...

Will a new kitten catch calici virus from a young cat?

One of our neighbours called around and asked if we would consider taking on a young kitten. Our young cat, 10-11 months came from a rescue group and she was found as a feral, the rescue people never told me she had calici, even though she has been spayed and had full vaccinations. One of the vets f...

Re: Sky wants to eat but wont

We are having something similar with our 14+ female cat Whitby. She stopped eating last week, nothing has shown up from blood tests are Xrays. She has started steroids and has been eating a bit. She is slumped and not moving. The vets have no clue, she had tooth calcification and I was wondering she...

Re: Cat noisy since it's companion died

The 6 months female kitten has settled in with Whitby well, but unfortunately Whitby has become seriously ill. The vet isn't sure if it is a virus and might be from the kitten who is from a feral background. Hoping that there is a happy outcome.

Clicky teeth and red gums

Our new kitten is around 6 months and is having problems with her teeth/mouth. Some of her gums are red and she is making a clicking sound, has been pawing with her feet, licking around her mouth and has some bad breath. She is eating, sometimes eats less than other days and is playing okay. I was t...

Re: Cat noisy since it's companion died

I don't think there is a problem with her thyroid as she had a lot of blood tests not so long ago and this was one of the conditions that was checked. The crying and clinging happened immediately Ruby died after Whitby saw her, the rest of the night she pressed herself on the pillow next to me. We h...

Cat noisy since it's companion died

Prior to her daughter suddenly dying of illness, Whitby, who is now fourteen was very quiet and easy to manage. Almost immediately her behaviour changed, she only made a noise if she went in the carrier, now she is yowling, especially in the night. She comes into the bedrooms several times in the ni...

Re: Getting a new cat/kitten with old cat

I am getting cold feet about this, but Whitby is making a lot of noise in the small hours, looking into the chimney where Ruby used to hide and she is very clingy. I am concerned that she will find an older cat more of a threat than a kitten. Whitby was ill when she had dental work in the summer but...

Getting a new cat/kitten with old cat

Our beautiful tortoiseshell Ruby died suddenly recently, she was 13 and her mother is 14, we would like to have another cat or kitten. I have read the advice on the web page, which is very good, but do we get a kitten? Whitby the cat we still have has seemed fairly laid back when neighbours kittens ...

Re: Dental and other problems

Whitby is slowly recovering, but is still very under weight, I will not be happy until her condition improves. Her eating is variable and both she and her daughter have become more fussy about what is put in front of them. They originally ate James Wellbeloved Senior happily, now they a meoiwing for...

Whitby has had a good poo in the litter tray. She really wants to go out to poo.
She has also worked how to get to her bum over the comfy collar!

Re: Dental and other problems

We are still having problems with Whitby. On Sunday I had to take her to A&E as her bum was so sore and swollen I thought it might be a prolapse. The vet said it was just inflamed, she was still having problems pooing. Whilst she was their she passed a poo and one when she came home, but hasn't ...

Re: Dental and other problems

Whitby has had a pretty unpleasant time there was evidence of resorption and she had two teeth removed but the vet thinks she will require more treatment. She seemed pretty bad in the night and was passing diarrhoea where she lay, so I was surprised to hear my partner (who was up early) say she was ...

Dental and other problems

I took both cats, aged 13 and 14 for dental work last week. They didn't do the older cat as she had lost weight since she was last weighed at the vets. They took bloods and sent these away for analysis. The vet telephoned my partner and said that the test showed slight indication of kidney disease a...
