Re: Landywood - Staffordshire

Hi, welcome. Has this lovely little chap had his ear tipped? he looks like my ferals that have had their ears tipped so we know they’ve been neutered. Here is Cat Chat’s found information: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-missing-lost-found#found Also, see the latest Lost Cat reports (from Pets...

Re: I’ve had a difficult start

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear that things aren’t working out with your adopted cat. Usually though if you adopt a cat from a rescue then they would prefer you contact them, if for any reason you need to rehome the cat, that’s been the case for all the cats I’ve homed. Have you been in touch with the...

Re: Help! Neighbours crying cat.

Hi and welcome. This sounds really upsetting and I personally would contact the RSPCA to get them to check it out. I certainly wouldn’t leave it because it sounds like the cat is deeply upset about something. I know that some cats are very vocal, such as siamese cats, but if the cat isn’t used to be...

Re: Poop Panic

Hi and welcome, something must have caused this, either from his past or something that’s happened that’s giving him this anxiety for some reason. I wonder if he’s been scared at some time when using his tray? How long have you had him and how long has it been going on? Meanwhile this link may be of...

Re: Cat noisy since it's companion died

Aww my heart goes out to her as it sounds like she's grieving, so sad :( I would consider a companion I think. We’ve never lost relative cats, but we have lost companion cats. I’ve never actually had a cat suffer like this and I really do feel for her. I’m not sure a kitten would be the best thing a...

Re: Cat coughing

Hi and welcome. We had a cat who suffered nasal problems including a cough on and off. He never used to cough when I took him to the vets though. What I did was video him coughing with my phone so the vet could hear the cough and she said it was probably due to him having had cat flu when he was a k...

All my lot will eat beef, not sure how much they like it, but one of my ferals especially absolutely loves beef, that includes beef flavoured cat food, and bits of beef steak I give them as a treat.

Poor Beaker. I don’t know anything about the product you mention unfortunately, although hopefully others will. But have you tried mixing his normal food with the prescription food if he doesn’t like it? Or even better, is there another food you could try because vets will try and sell you a particu...

I have all my cats ashes at home although like yourself do wonder and very much hope they are mine. I have them done through the vets I’ve used for 30 years who told me they are so I trust they are truthful.

Re: Really feeling good

So glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. I lost a cat tragically, briefly the story was she went missing and I found her, I didn’t know how she’d died until the dog got one of my ferals as well, and I saw that, so tragic. I’ve lost lots of cats now, but that was the worst I suppose because of h...

Re: Clingy, anxious cat.

Hi and welcome. This is a difficult one, as you don’t know anything of her background. It could be that she misses her old owner, and was used to just being with him all day, as a lap cat. Some cats just do take a long time to settle e.g. I’ve adopted lots of old cats and one took a year before we f...

Re: Advice for adopting shelter cat

People say that cats choose you, well my current cat did that, she left her home and kept coming to us because she must have preferred the environment. We ended up taking her on and she’s very loved here. However, we didn’t intend getting another cat for a while, having lost a few cats in recent yea...

Re: In dire need of advice about cat not using the litter box

Hi and welcome. It’s a real pain when this happens, when I fostered, one cat was the same. However, once a home was found and he could go out he was fine. So the first thing that comes to mind is - can your cat go out, and if not is she wanting to? Similarly if she can go out and there is something ...

I think that that the way you’ve decided to move on from this is a wonderful, to now help others as you can empathise with how they feel. You are right the pain of loss does takes time to heal and helping others like yourself, I think, will also help you.

Well only you know your cat, but from what you say, and if she’s still surprising you, it doesn’t sound like the time is now. I think you will know when that time comes. She will pick up on your stress, and you are looking out all the time for signs. I would try and relax for now and just be there f...

Re: The right thing to do

Hi, sorry for the long post, I took my beautiful 16 year old Onion to the vets yesterday after finding a lump in her abdomen. If I hadn't found this, I would never have suspected that anything was wrong, other than a bit of constipation. I feel like we're in limbo. Should I keep an eye on her and s...

Re: Outdoor cat

Well one thing I can suggest for the Snugglesafe is straw, my ferals love that. Don’t use hay as that can mould but straw is well lijked with my lot, it’s not dear and lasts a long time. I now have an outdoor wooden shed for my ferals, with lots of soft bedding in, but they do still like the Snugs w...

Hi Julia, I’m so sorry to read this. You really did the best you could for Merlin, it’s just so unfortunate that this was to happen, but you prevented him from further suffering, as Ruth has said, the best option the ways things turned out. Re: My cat keeps waking me up really early and sleeping all day

If you don’t want a cat flap then I would train your cat to go out when it suits you. For example, I could let my cat in and out all day, but when she first arrived at mine she started chasing the ferals who’ve lived in my garden for years. The 2 lads stood up to her, but the female runs off. So I h...

Re: Dilemma - 20yr old cat with dental problems

Hi and welcome. I can only give my experiences with this, but I have had lots of elderly cats have dentals, because I’ve adopted lots of cats with issues, over 15 years. One of my cats was over 20 when she had a dental, with no known issues, other than a few tummy problems, but these seemed to clear...

Re: Anyone ever find blood in faeces?

I've seen this a few times and mercifully it's been nothing to worry about - but of course it needs investigating. I once saw it in a very hard motion - took a sample to the vet along with the cat - and I've sometimes seen a splash in diarrohea. I think often it's a case of the sphincter being irri...
