That is an option I hadn't really thought of. I'll add it to my list of possibilities. Thank you.

Re: Time for a new start...

My goodness, you're all so lovely, and so very wise. I actually ordered a new cat tree the other day in preparation, then cancelled it today. I really don't know what to do. The thought of a single kitten is comforting, but for some reason, the thought of two is quite intimidating, maybe because I g...

Re: Time for a new start...

Well, deciding to have more cats in my life has brought unexpected sadness. I've coped well with the loss of my girl, I think I did most of my grieving before she died, but today I've cried a lot. I'm crying now. I guess it's the thought that I'm finally moving on, without her, like she's watching m...

Time for a new start...

Hi, I'd like some advice please. I lost my beautiful girl in May and the house isn't the same without the thunder of paws. I'd like a new bundle of hell and I definitely want a kitten. The thing is, I only really want one, but I work full time. My old girl was a sweetheart, and well adjusted, but my...

She was 13 then.

Re: Some thoughts on letting go.

I got a lovely card from the vet this morning. It had a little packet of Forget-Me-Not seeds in it that I'll plant and sit next to her favourite spot on the window sill. I shed lonely tears for my beautiful girl today. https://scontent-ams4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/61705625_10217669371713365_33304901...

Re: Some thoughts on letting go.

Split seconds are painful. Roasting a nice chicken and for a split second I think my girl will probably like some of this. Traveling home after work in the sunshine and for a split second I imagine my girl will be sunbathing on the blanket box in front of the bedroom window. Waking in the morning an...

Re: Some thoughts on letting go.

Thank you all for your kind and wise words, they mean a lot to me. It's a comfort to know I'm not alone, and I'm not the only one to feel such terrible loss, even though it's sad to know there are so many who have lost. This moring was terrible. Coming downstairs and not having a hungry little soul ...

Re: Some thoughts on letting go.

This last stage has been very strange, not at all like I thought it would be. I imagined I'd be a total wreck, wailing and cursing the stars, but it's not been like that. So far. Early days I suppose. I seem to have periods of calm, where I'm functioning as normal, and I go about this most awful of ...

My beautiful girl passed away today. She was so gentle and brave. I'm exhausted from crying but I see her things everywhere in the house and it kills me.

Re: Some thoughts on letting go.

It's been a good few months since I last posted and my girl is still with me. Up until these last few days she's been soldiering on. Eating well, sleeping comfortably, using her litter tray regularly. Basically being herself. So much so that I'd begun to doubt her diagnosis. Things have changed quic...

Doubts about cremation

My girl is still with me, and she seems to be doing okay. Currently stretched out and dreaming. I've been thinking about cremation. In all these years, I could never imagine having a pet's ashes, not because I think the idea is silly, or morbid,I don't, but because I always thought that it wouldn't ...

Re: Some thoughts on letting go.

This darling cat continues to scare me and shock me. I have been tearing myself apart trying to decide if it's the right time to let her go. We've only spent one week and one night apart in 16 years, one holiday, and one night at the vet following some tooth extractions. In 16 years. I know my cat l...

Some thoughts on letting go.

Sunday afternoon. My girl is lying beside me, fed and washed. She was so quiet this morning, so I made the decision to finally let her go tomorrow. Yet I am still having doubts. I know she will never get better, only worse, so I have been having a talk with myself. A lot of people torture themselves...

Time.

I've decided to put my girl to sleep tomorrow. She's still eating and washing, but she's quiet, and there's something in her beautiful eyes that saddens me. It's been a rollercoaster this weekend, and my heart is tied to her. When she perks up my heart lifts and some of the sadness goes away. When s...

Welcome to the forum, I'm just sorry it is under such circumstances. It is the hardest time of all, knowing something is wrong and trying to work out when is the right time to act. I've been through it a few times now and the best you can do is to watch and try and judge what they are telling you. ...

Re: The right thing to do

Hi Julie and welcome, though I'm sorry to hear about Onion. I think you're doing the right thing, playing it by ear. Last August my Emily (avatar cat) left me after being diagnosed with kidney disease in the previous February. The day before she deteriorated she was lively and demanding, ate three ...

Re: The right thing to do

I just found a video on my computer of my baby getting fussed. My God, she was so solid and beautiful, with such sleek shiny fur. I can hear her sweet meows and her chirps when I say 'treat'. She hooks my hand with her paw and guides it to her head for an ear scratch. My poor heart is breaking, and ...

The right thing to do

Hi, sorry for the long post, I took my beautiful 16 year old Onion to the vets yesterday after finding a lump in her abdomen. If I hadn't found this, I would never have suspected that anything was wrong, other than a bit of constipation. A scan revealed that she has cancer that has spread to her kid...
