Re: My cat doesn't want to live here anymore

Did you say he WAS neutered? There is no getting away from the fact that a cat that is not neutered will stray - & make a big nuisance of himself fathering unwanted kittens left right & centre. It will also get into fights with other males. How often do you feed him? Divide up the daily allo...

Oh, what an excellent tail - sorry, tale. I admire your endeavours & applaud your success. The poor little mite has obviously found an absolutely perfect home. Long may you both thrive. Can we see a photo or two?

Re: The UK law concerning fences, walls and gates

An interesting summary! Regarding your neighbour - is this adjacent to a highway (little excuse there, it seems) or on a fence separating your properties? Is the fence yours or your neighbour's? I'm assuming they are aggressive about spike removal. If they are unco-operative & you can afford it,...

Re: the perfect litter tray

You might well have solved this by now but there are quite lot of different designs of corner box (that's what they tend to be called) available now. I agree that most doors are readily removed. If you find something that looks right, you could ask the maker about that. Carbon filters are commonpla...

Maybe digital cameras are better at picking up rainbows but if the light strikes water at the right angle, the light will split into all the colours of the spectrum. I remember, years ago, lying back on the South Downs to rest after an early morning walk, & looking sideways to see the dew on the...

Re: advice wanted

So, I think we are dealing with a couple of strays who visit your garden. Are you feeding them? I imagine so, if you are their favoured person. Cats readily take to almost any sort of outdoor wooden house, which is waterproof & provides easy access. My cats have serially occupied a craftsman-mad...

Have a look online at Mynwood Cat Jackets. I've my 3rd on order & they are very good. Lots of colour choice & they'll be made to fit your cat's measurements.

Re: When should I let my girls outside?

I do agree about not letting them out if they are not neutered (they are already old enough to have an interest in the opposite sex & a male will hare off towards the scent of an on-heat female) nor, of course, until they are vaccinated, which I imagine has already happened. It won't be harmful...

I do understand your annoyance & frustration over this & hope your current progress is successful. I've had a similar problem with a couple who live in the close adjacent to mine. The cat in question accesses them via a path along which there is no escape from marauding dogs. They feed him ...

Re: Outdoor cat became indoor cat

Why worry? I wouldn't. The cat has been neutered & re-homed. His personality is likely to have altered as a result. It seems to me that everything has gone swimmingly. There's no desire for him to be outside, is there? If you live in an apartment, he needs to be inside, I presume. As for fearin...

Re: Kitten chaos

Having a small kitten sized healthy treat might be an inducement. I thought that with my own cats but it turned out that having eaten the treat & snuffled around for more, they'd jump down & get on with whatever they were doing before. It might help them get used to being handled, though.

Re: Question on Spaying

Making sure she has plenty of whatever she wants to drink might help. Fluids passing through will help remove traces of the drugs. Poor her & poor you! Is she a thin cat? Thin cats can take longer to recover. Fat can absorb the drugs & allow them to be broken down or excreted more slowly. Th...

Yes, those are the ones I use. If a different cat approaches, the "right" cat tends to withdraw & so the lid closes. It is possible for a really sneaky cat to stand behind the bowl & attempt to hook out pieces of food but that's about it. And yes, they do rush to the sound of the o...

Don't worry, SuttonRider, your cat is normal. His food sounds perfectly adequate, too - very similar amounts to my own, although they demand variety  I imagine your cat is fairly young. They mouse more when young although some do it permanently. A regular worming is fine but keep an eye on hi...

Re: 5 week old Kitten

Ideally, kittens stay with their mothers until they are 12 weeks old. It takes that long to for weaning to be complete & them to become confident & accomplished in everything their mother has to teach them. So, check: this one seems a little too young to be removed as yet. Also, do ask your...

[*][*] No, your cats aren't safe. Wash the places you've used it. Check Safety Data Sheets online before you use products. This is the Raid version https://www.thamesmeadonline.co.uk/downloads/JW1063.pdf The active ingredients are permethrins, all of which are EXTREMELY toxic to cats: Cypermethrin 0...

That's a rotten thing to happen to you & you have my sympathies. No sympathy for the owner, though: that cat should have been neutered & then would have been less inclined to stray. It sounds as if she couldn't care less. If you are in the UK, you might advise the RSPCA & ask if an insp...

UK cat deaths from dog flea products

https://icatcare.org/permethrin I'm sure everyone here knows that dog products are not for cats but apparently there have been a lot of UK cat deaths caused by dog flea products containing permethrin. Even to the extent of a treated dog snuggling a cat (it does happen!) & thereby poisoning it. ...

At 11 weeks, she is rather young to be without her mother. Ideally, kittens stay with their mother until they are 12 weeks old but this did not seem to happen for KiKi. She might not have been fully weaned & her diet might be responsible for her distress. You can buy food designed for cats unde...

There is a system with the RSPCA where they will issue codes for vet treatment for any suffering animal. If you can catch one of the kittens, keep it maybe in a cat carrier, then ring the RSPCA & explain it is sick, they will give you a code to give to a vet. You take the kitten to the vet, the...
