Re: Pancreatitis - anxiety and worry for my boy
Hi there, I’m really sorry to hear a chonk has pancreatitis and I really hope he recovers. I had experience with this in June last year with my boy Murphy who is sadly no longer with me (not due to pancreatitis). He was 18years old when diagnosed and spent 2 nights in vets on fluids and pain meds. H...

Re: Pancreatitis advice or help needed!
He was in 2 days so been home since last Wed (8days) he was doing ok first 3-4 days then appetite deteriorated. We are now trying him on pain meds, Gabapentin as he can’t take opiods…they space him out. He is really drowsy with the Gab now but we need to try. Everywhere I read about Pancreatitis it ...

Thank for all the replies
He is still not eating great, I’m having to take it to him every 2-3 hours or I’m sure he wouldn’t eat. He had an anti nausea injection yesterday but no improvement. I don’t know what else to do.

Hi, I use Credelio tablets for my boy Murphy. I much prefer them to these spot on things. A bit more expensive though but worth it.

Re: Pancreatitis advice or help needed!
He’s a big boy at 7kgs and I know he’s not eating what he used to before this. I know what you mean about the dry food but I don’t think he’s getting enough calories. I just want him to look for food but he’s not interested. I’ll. e talking to vet in morning and asking what else we can do. Thank you...

Re: Pancreatitis advice or help needed!
He seems to be taking the dry over the wet which is really strange because he ha been off the dry food completely. Did Tilly have any meds to take? Murphy only had meds when in vets for 2 days, he is only getting enzorb supplement now. I don’t know what’s causing the inappetence…whether it’s nausea ...

He’s been on the renal diet a good couple of years…different brands. I just don’t want to give him anything to eat that could potentially aggravate the pancreas.

Re: Pancreatitis advice or help needed!
Yes I’ve to keep him on the renal diet but he’s not very interested in the wet, I have to take it to him and encourage small amounts. He is taking the dry from his bowl. I don’t know if he’s in pain or feeling nauseous…he is only on metacam for his arthritis.

Re: How bad is a fat cat, at this stage?
Mollycat Can I firstly say at no point in my post did I mention my vet. Murphy’s weight at 18 years old is not a concern to me. I also did not say SDMA was a better test, I simply said it was more accurate to evaluate kidney function. I get full blood work and SDMA done and have listed below some of...

Re: How bad is a fat cat, at this stage?
Three key attributes make the IDEXX SDMA Test more reliable than creatinine. • Biomarker for kidney function SDMA is excreted by the kidneys. SDMA more accurately reflects glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in dogs and cats.1-3,6 • Earlier than creatinine SDMA increases as early as 25% loss of kidney ...

Re: How bad is a fat cat, at this stage?
My Murphy is 18 yrs old and has been on a renal diet for around 3 years. He is a very large cat and has always weighed around 7kgs..over the years I tried all the different low calorie foods but nothing worked. He still weighs 7kgs and I feed him when he wants it as I feel at 18 it’s not fair to not...

Thanks for the replies First of all my Murphy is on cosequin (for years) and metacam for the last 6 months, he is doing really well and his pain is managed (he still manages to run around playing). I have never fancied the clay litter and find the corn based one I’m using is probably now too fine fo...

Re: meds online
I use Animed Direct and find them a great company and very reasonably priced. They are also very helpful on phone as I called before I placed my first order. My prescription is £21 from vet which isn’t cheap but still save around £8 on my metacam for my cat.

cat litter issues
Hi, I’ve been using World’s Best cat litter for a few years now for my 18yo boy Murphy. I use it as it’s soft, dust free, biodegradable and he likes it. I’ve had no issues at all up until a couple of months ago when he started getting wet after using his box. He has arthritis and I think he maybe si...

Re: Moving 180miles with an elderly cat? Help!
First of all my cat is 17 and I couldn’t imagine moving him from his home...so I just wouldn’t move! I also cannot believe your husband suggested putting your cat to sleep...that’s very sad. I refuse to decorate because I don’t want to upset my boy but that’s just me, I know everyone is different. P...

Murphy had a urine sample showing inflammation and vet thinks it’s related to the stress. He had 5 days of Metacam which made a big difference. He is also on Valerian compound to see it that helps. Has anyone tried it?

Re: Cat sick, blood test shows mast cells, not eating
So sorry your cat isn’t doing too good. I know exactly how you are feeling as we’ve all been through it with our cats at some point. I hope the steroids have made an improvement over the weekend and he has managed to eat some food. You could ask your vet for a food called Royal Canin recovery which ...

Hi there...sounds like you have a major problem with your cat, sorry it’s so bad. My cat Murphy who is 17 now has stress issues but not to this extent. He pulls his fur out and has recently had changes in his urine and vet has put that down to stress as well. I take it you’re not in the UK as your c...

Re: My Bumble has kidney disease
Glad he likes the food, my boy does as well...there are so many varieties now, hills do a stew in small cans which Murphy loves. I would definitely mention the Hypertension, it involves taking a few readings over the course of the day and the Amodip is very palatable ( Murphy takes it like a treat).

Re: My Bumble has kidney disease
Sorry to hear Bumble has kidney disease. My cat Murphy has it too, he’s 17 and was diagnosed around 2 years ago. He is on Amodip for his blood pressure which is monitored every 3-6 months. A lot of cats (around 60%) with kidney disease also have Hypertension which worsens the disease so if it’s cont...

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I’ve still not decided on a course to take. He is pulling more fur out all down the left side of his back and I’m not sure if it’s pain related or stress. Anyone have any experience of this? I have tried a few things ie: checked for food intolerances, stress me...
