Re: Good Bye and I Hope to See You All Again Elsewhere

Beautiful sentiments Ruth, a small state of grief indeed. The end of an era. I shall feel very sad removing CC from my start-up tabs. Thank you all for your help with Boo and Moggin (Bobby and Molly) and Ruth for our lovely T-shirts, fjm and others for sharing food samples for fussy cats with condit...

Oh no! I came here as a refugee from another rather judgemental forum and have loved getting to know members and cats. It's my first stop in the mornings. CC will be very much missed.

Re: Persistent diarrhoea in both cats

The only time I ever had a cat on Fortiflora it made the Dire Rear 10 times worse. It doesn't suit all cats. Has the vet ever given an injection of vitamin B, or suggested trying Cobalaplex? Have you given pumpkin, or Pro-kolin? The trouble with antibiotics is that side effects include diarrhoea, an...

Re: In from the cold?

I feel largely the same about Sooty. I don't feel comfortable asking his legal owner for funds if needed when he has barely seen his cat for two years, I just hope he doesn't rack up any serious bills on my watch. If Felix has a warm place to sleep he is that bit less likely to need help, hopefully,...

Re: Resident cat still afraid of kitten after 2 weeks

Sorry to read this. Although some cats will never accept others, allowing them to be free in the same room after just two weeks was probably too soon. Introductions can take months, made up of small steps and giving them several days to get comfortable with each step before moving on to the next sma...

Re: In from the cold?

As we had our first proper frost this morning, an update is due. Sooty began to use the old cardboard box from last year around the corner sheltered from the wind and passers by but exposed to the rain, still with the old pillow I put in it for him, but he also liked the big pile of dry fallen leave...

Re: Death of a Healthy Cat

Sorry for your loss, such an awful shock for you. Only a post-mortem might give you an answer, but that is costly and of course it won't bring him back. Twitching and even the whine can happen after death, it's possible he may have died instantly before he was picked up. It does sound more like a br...

So sorry for your loss, it is never easy no matter how right the decision.

I am so glad your son was able to be part of it right to the end, and that his first experience was able to be beautiful, peaceful and gentle, and to see himself what we mean by a kind release. Gentle thoughts are with you.

Re: will stray cat adjust to home? when?

If the cats get on well in the house in every other respect, then to be honest I would look at how you are feeding rather than keep them separated I think. A lot depends on how you feed your cat - do you free feed or are there set meal times? I'm not selling anything but I resolved issues around fee...

What a sweetheart. I once had a cat who had a similar looking scabby nose. I don't recall cost but in her case treatment was a simple one-off "skim" of the top layer of cells from the nose planum, and I do know it did not run into a four figure sum, I would have remembered that. We had no ...

I am sorry, and wish you all kindness and gentleness for her through her ninth life. It was that time again! Having figured out that Molly's problem with the carrier may have been pain from the way we used to grab her and chuck her in quick before she could use her mackerel tabbiness to slip out of our hands, I picked her up much more gently and properly. There was a vocal protest b...

You could make your own apple sauce, just stew up a little apple for her with nothing added but a little water. Funny tastes like that can be really useful if you ever need to medicate her! I'm currently giving mine metacam in a tiny smidge of mayonnaise every morning. I don't think apple is harmful...

Hi and welcome to the forum, so lovely that you want to give this little one a good home. Just waiting for definite confirmation but a kind lady at Felini says they should be able to send at a price, because postage and duty costs are high. We did ask a friend in Belgium but the cost on onward transmission is ridiculous. That said needs must and Molly needs so I must. Fingers crossed.

Could a black spot be linked to FORLs?

Molly used to have a black spot under her jaw on one side. A bit under 2 years ago she had a dental and two FORLs were extracted. Recently I noticed the black spot has gone. In the words of a certain satirical magazine, are they by any chance related? The spot seemed like a stain on the skin, it was...

I could only regurgitate what is freely available on the web but my understanding is that FCoV is rampant and only a small minority of cases mutate to cause FIP. Your vet should be able to advise and be bang up to date as well. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that a new treatment offered bette...

Ah now thy all have long-hair genes, what long-haired cats lack is the gene to tell the hair to stop growing.

Awful, I'm so sorry. Badgers are notoriously bad tempered creatures so I can understand them posing a risk to cats at close quarters. I take it you have tried all her usual irresistible naughty foods? That is quite early and sudden, though some cats can successfully hide ckd into quite advanced stages. Hydration is key to accurate tests though, so you may find an adjusted diagnosis once the tests have been done properly. Also some of the results can be affected by other factors, even something si...
