Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Hi everyone, My beautiful 16 year old Ragdoll, Shelby, has been diagnosed with the above illness. There was talk of oral chemo, but it would mean travelling quite a way to a specialist and I just don't feel I want to put her through that, being prodded about etc. My vet has prescribed Prednisolone t...

Re: My Bumble has kidney disease

Thanks guys I cannot believe how much he likes both Royal Canin renal dry food and the Hills kidney health dry food. It’s so lovely to see him crunching away. Vet was pleased with him yesterday and gave him more fluids. Today he’s eaten well. Back to vets 2pm tomorrow. It’s so weird not going in wit...

He’s no longer keen on the wet food, just pushes it around the plate. I’ve ordered both wet and dry renal food. Vets at 2pm today xx

Re: My Bumble has kidney disease

Mine our all indoor cats so thankfully, I don’t get presents like that. Good job as I’m vegan and animal mad. So Bumble is home but not particularly happy. Very nasty to all the other cats. He ate a little food last night but really not much and not much today either. I think the tooth problem is re...

Re: My Bumble has kidney disease

Hi
The vets are doing all checks and he’s in good hands. I will mention hypertension though but I’m sure they’ve checked that. They’re very good He will be on a special diet for the rest of his life. Just waiting for the next update call. Xx

My Bumble has kidney disease

Hi Hope everyone ok and staying safe. So Bumble was admitted on Saturday. At first we’d put his lack of appetite down to teeth problems and sure enough when the vet checked, he looked like he needed 5 out. However she was concerned there might be something else going on so took bloods. His kidney re...

Re: Dilemma Time

Vespa smaller.jpg Hi everyone Thanks for your comments. So little Vespa has been with us for nearly two weeks now. She's a right little Alpha Female and giving the boys a run for their money. Spike, I think, is quite taken with her, although does get a bit over zealous in the playing department and...

Dilemma Time

Hi Everyone I haven't been on for a while. Sadly Pickle went to Rainbow Bridge on 3rd September. He went to sleep forever under our bed sometime during the early hours. Heartbroken as he had been doing amazingly well. Miss him so much. Our number of cats has now decreased to four and we have been th...

Re: Pickle

Hi Well, the change in Pickle is amazing, he's eating loads, the special high calorie food Simon the vet gave us seems to have him wanting more and he proceeds to get in on Bumble and Spike's food also, I'm sure he'd get to Shelby's too if she wasn't eating hers in another room!!! He doesn't seem to...

Re: Pickle

Hi Took Pickle to vets on Saturday. He said it could be an infection due to low immune system but it could be the cancer. He gave him a couple of injections and also gave me a couple of tins of prescription food which is high in calories etc as he has lost a bit more weight. He did manage to eat som...

Re: Pickle

Hi Well, Pickle perked up again and was eating his food normally and whoever else's he could get to! However, what I am now noticing is he sounds like he's got a cold, very snuffly through the nose and this sometimes has an effect on his eating :(. Anyone heard of Vidalta or steriods having cold lik...

Re: Pickle

Hi everyone Well, the steroids have certainly helped to reduce the lumps, however on his last bloods check his thyroid levels are still too high, so they have upped the Vidalta dosage. He was doing really well, taking his tablets in a ball of cheese - he loves cheese which is pretty apt considering ...

Re: Pickle

Hi We agreed that going forward with the dental was a good option, he had two very large infected molars and he seems so much brighter now they've been removed. Also without doing the biopsy it meant that he was under for a shorter period and thus, less risky. The vet was very pleased with him and s...

Re: Pickle

Hi Everyone Just to let you know we made an appointment to see the vet before the procedure today, this vet is one I'm more familiar with and is more decisive than the one that has been treating Pickle, she was unavailable when I originally took Pickle in. She is pretty certain that the mass in his ...

Re: Pickle

Thanks for your replies. His thyroid level is now 102 which is down from the level it was when he was diagnosed. But apparently normal levels are under 60! I think biopsy is the best route. Anaesthesia is risky at all times but to leave it longer I think, might be a mistake. The lumps under his chin...

Pickle

Hi everyone It was less than a year when I was on here so sad about my Ollie and his passing after a very quick and sudden cancer. Now I'm back to talk about Pickle, Ollie's brother. He's been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism - that's ok - I know all about it and know it's treatable. However there is ...

Re: Ollie

Thank you all for your kind words. When he fell asleep in my arms I felt peace but now the pain of loss sinks in. Not seeing his cheeky face peering over the bannister when I return home, not the gentle swipe of a paw as I run a hand over his head and back. I'm lucky to still have 5 cats to love and...

Re: Ollie

It is with heavy hearts that we sent Ollie on his journey to Rainbow Bridge. He was up against something that he was never going to win and it was evident today that he wasn't himself. Knowing he would deteriorate we had to do the decent thing and let him go with dignity. He was comfortable and went...

Re: Ollie

Just spoken with vet. He says he's quite bright this morning and has eaten 70% of his breakfast.

This makes it worse. Am I jumping the gun. But vet thinks I'm doing kindest thing. Doesn't seem it though when he's eating again.

Heart wrenching pain. Xx

Thank you Julie It is through tears that I read your post. I hope you have Barney for a long time to come. I'm so heartbroken about Ollie. His brother Pickle must wonder where he is. Sad news I'm afraid. The scan confirms an aggressive tumour. The vet says he is comfortable and there was no need to rush up there now. I'm so distraught. But I don't think it's fair to bring him home and watch him deteriorate. I'm sad to say I think it will be kinder to send him on his journey tomo...

Re: Please spare us a thought.....

One of the options given to us yesterday was a CT scan. We have decided to give him that 5% chance, as the vet was 95% sure it was a malignant tumour. He said Ollie was stable this morning and a lot more comfortable than when we arrived at Dick Whites yesterday. Ollie is having the scan today at abo...
