Re: I feel so guilty

I'm really sorry to hear about Milo, I can't add anything else than what has already been said - please please don't blame yourself. As he was obviously so stressed at going to the Vets, he would have just got worse and suffered. You made the kindest decision for him, I've been through it twice, and...

Re: Need a quiet, weather-proof catflap

I also have a Sureflap which is activated for Denver's microchip, and although it does make a click noise to lock, its pretty quiet. Its also very weatherproof as the lock keeps the flap securely closed even in high winds when the microchip isn't anywhere near it too. Plus no unwanted guests to stre...

Re: I think my cat is spooked from my washing machine

Hi. When I first adopted Denver, he was also spooked out by the washing machine - I used to have a very very old model which was very noisy. He'd always been frightened of noise - his old owners (my former next door neighbours) used to have the most awful shouting matches and it made him spook very ...

Re: Do cats love us?

I think Denver loves me all right - when I got back from holiday yesterday he wouldn't leave my side, and every moment he could since he's been on my lap, nuzzling, purring and mewing when I haven't stroked him in the last 30 seconds.

Re: DREADFUL GUILT AND LOSS AFTER EUTHANASING MY 17 YEAR OLD

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Furzo, but please don't feel guilty. You made the right and kindest decision for him. I still miss my Kitten (who I had PTS due to stomach cancer December 2012) and Mischa who was PTS February 2014 also with kidney failure. I also felt guilty - I'd been away at a work...

Re: Renal failure - terminal or treatable?

I'm sorry to hear about Portia. My only experience with renal problems was with my Mischa in February 2014 - I'd been away for a works conference and my friend who was taking care of her said she'd completely emptied her water bowl - unheard of. When I got home, a very miserable cat was waiting for ...

Re: can any microchip cat flaps keep a cat inside?

Sorry Mark, I misunderstood. Its true that if you don't program a chip into the memory the flap won't let a cat in, but the chip only works one way (entry) so unless you lock the flap for exit (which means Kylie, Domino and Kasper won't be able to exit either), it will still let the cat out. Its a s...

Re: can any microchip cat flaps keep a cat inside?

I have a Sureflap Mark, and it does have a 4 way manual selector lock on it (which on the "lock" functions overrides the chip system), so you can still choose entry and exit, entry or exit, or no entry and exit. Useful for when I have to take Denver to the Vet! They are a very good flap. H...

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Leo. It is always hard to lose a member of your family, especially suddenly like this. I'm lucky - Denver deals with his claws himself - but my last late cat Mischa (still very much missed) was completely different! As she was so old, she hardly went out so her claws needed trimming - but the only way was during her regular Vet visits as it took 4 of us holding her down while the Vet ...
