Re: Cats glucose levels
My 11 year old cat was diagnosed with diabetes . My wife and I took him to the vet yesterday and the vet attached a freestyle Libre glucose monitor to his back and we brought him home . Mr kitty does not like to ride at all , nor is he too fond of vet trips . Highly stressful for him . When we got ...

definitely there is a reason that we don't know about and wish you find it soon . my piece but i don't know whether it applies to you or not : sometimes bathing a cat with shampoo makes her smell funny and cats know each other from the smell , i did it before to 3 young kittens and there mom recogni...

He's a lot better, thanks for asking. He has no more fluids in his heart/lungs and the doctor said that the danger has passed and that he's satisfied with the results. We have a follow-up check-up next Friday. He was on Prednisone/Synulox injections for 3 days, which have ceased and Furosemide &...

Did not mention anything about dyalisis. Is that an option? We were supposed to take him to the best vet in town but its a 35 min drive and i was scared so we ended up taking him to a 24/7 er vet so the other vet is cancelled. The vet appointment was supposed to be in 90 mins ,so not even yet. And ...

Re: Possible pulmonary edema
He has liquid in his lungs and the doctors tried draining it but could only manage half a ml. They did a ECG and some blood work. Only ones outside the norms are Cl- 131, BUN 56, K+ 3.59, CRE 2.6 and Na+ 168. Now hes back on oxygen. Shouldnt draining the liquid be the nr one priority or are the med...

Re: Possible pulmonary edema
I agree with molly and fjm, you need to be sure 1st and have an accurate diagnosis, if it was a chest problem lasix could dehydrate her and complicate the condition, you also need to do some labs to check renal and liver function, they could be the culprit causing generalized edema involving the che...

Re: Breast cancer starting to ulcerate
Be kind to yourself in the days and weeks ahead, when your heart is a lead weight and your eyes burn from tears and restless sleep. You gave Nans everything and when there is nothing left to offer you gave her the ultimate gift of selfless love, to let her go in peace and free from pain, in your ar...

It is the last, the kindest, and the hardest gift we are able to give the animals we love. I am so sorry - you did everything and more to keep her comfortable, but were brave and loving enough to hear her when she told you she was tired, and suffering, and ready to go. We never lose them completely...

Re: Breast cancer starting to ulcerate
I'm glad the x-ray seems like it hasn't spread to her lungs, but I still wouldn't put her through removal even for palliative, putting aside the fact that only removing the mass rather than the whole strip isn't the best idea given it has recently spread, it is very tough surgery to recover from, m...

Re: Breast cancer starting to ulcerate
I'm sorry to hear that her cancer is progressing, but I wouldn't put her through surgery, especially now you say she has a lump on the other side - when they remove mammary cancer, they tend to remove the whole strip of nipples, as it tends to just affect one side, but if she has lumps on both side...

Nans my cat , developed breast cancer when she was about 16 years old , it started as a pea on one side , but since she was a senior cat , thyrotoxic , diabetic with elevated liver enzymes the vet and us agreed on not doing surgery. Re: wet food
Wet food moisture is about 80% , so 80% is water and thats explain why he is eating much more . You could try various brands of both wet and dry food , but if you are gonna go for the dry one i would better stick to royal canine , it is much healthier i think . My cat used to eat friskies dry food b...

Re: Cat with terminal hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (heart failure)
It is not just the clot tara , once diagnosed with heart failure it means he is sick , and you might not notice but he is suffering , he can't play as before , he might find it difficult to breath . A clot formation means the heart can't pump blood efficiently anymore so blood stagnates and more clo...

(Breast cancer) what to expect !!
My cat developed a breast cancer last year beneath her left most upper breast nipple , she was 17 years old and the vet adviced against surgery due to age and other problems such as liver , thyrotoxicity , weak immunity and diabetes . Almost a year passed and the mass progressed from a pea sized to ...

urea tends to be strongly correlated with hydration level too . whether molly is prediabetic or not still the protein diet is the one preferred in my opinion , you can change food and follow up the urea/creat level to check its effect . btw nans ate a piece of plastic bag as usual and vomited afterw...

Re: Cat will starve but will not eat cat food
lots of cats like the smell of olives very much and when she smells it she will act as if aroused or someone is cuddling her . i wish my cat was like yours in eating proteins only , as cats are pretty much carnivores , and proteins is a much healthier food than a cat dry/wet food , my cat after 10 y...

Re: Molly's mouth
Yes it's the distress it causes them, especially now we are not allowed to go in with them. Thankfully I have a very understanding vet and we agreed there is no appointment to check her, just one appointment she goes in has everything done and that's it. Did you check the UV lamp against other thin...
