Re: Good Bye and I Hope to See You All Again Elsewhere

Thanks Ruth, more tears! It will be very odd not having CC to check daily, even though I'm also on Purrs. Will be sad not to see you Molly, with all your wisdom, but if you do need a fix, there will always be a welcome at Purrs. I've hidden Metacam in Primula cheese, that was the only way I could ge...

Re: Forum change on 18 December

Purrs has been very inactive for quite a while, so admin may only check in infrequently - hopefully a mass migration from here will bring it to life again I did notice when I checked it out no recent posts that I could see. Hopefully you're right and it will kick start it.😊 That's what I loved abou...

Oh No, Why? I really love this forum it has been a great place to talk about things. Everyone here has been so friendly and understanding, I'm going to miss you all. Is there an alternative site that people frequent? I post on Purrs in our Hearts, set up by an ex CC member. I have to say this news ...

Re: I lost my best friend yesterday

So sorry to hear this, I've dealt with this in rabbits, and if it's any consolation, this happened to one of my neighbours rabbits the day before she was going on holiday and the vet did suggest something, but warned there was a slim chance of survival, which required debriding some skin and we had ...

I walked in this morning to this lovely sight - sadly Coco only stayed there for 5 mins, and was then a proper grumps when I swept and mopped the room!

Re: Coco and Chanel dilemma

Another little breakthrough yesterday, I went to sit with them earlier than normal while I was running a bath, and Coco was on the rocking chair, so I sat on the floor, she half lifted her head, looked at me, yawned, gave her paw a wash then settled back down. Had to leave after 10 mins to turn the ...

Re: Coco and Chanel dilemma

There certainly are Molly - I actually don't think they'd like to have access to the house all the time, and they feel safe in their room. Funnily enough both have been better with me today, Coco was the least hissy she's been all week (she's even been popping at me this week), so I was brave enough...

Re: Coco and Chanel dilemma

Well, I've had the girls for 5 years now, still no closer to touching them, Coco still hisses at me daily. I do think Chanel would come round if it weren't for her mum, even though she's 5 now, she's still got some curiosity, but it only extends to sniffing my finger. Although the other week when it...

Re: Inflamed intestine and mild pancreatitis

I agree with Mollycat, while Lucy's aren't quite the same, renal food isn't supposed to be used for cats with hyper-calcaemia, but the vet had a very similar view to Mollycat's, kidney issues are going to affect her quicker than calcium ones, she can't tolerate too much renal food though, when we di...

My Lucy was sedated for bloods etc earlier in the year, I did pick her up earlier than vets normally allow cats home, got her home about 12.30, was nearly 4 before she was walking normally and she wasn't back to her usual self till 6.30pm the following day, and like you, I did feel guilty about doin...

Lucy was diagnosed through SDMA, I just changed her dry food to renal and gave her a couple of pouches of renal wet food a week and it did reduce her SDMA, think it went from 16 down to 10. Good luck

Re: Annual Vaccination

Lucy's were delayed this year so we could do them at the same time as her bloods, the vet nurse said there is a 3 month period before they would need to be started again. I know years ago a vet said there with the dual vaccination, one offered protection for 18 months, one for 12, so they went with ...

Re: Indoor cats

If he's a hunter, he's likely not going to be the kind of cat that will cope with an indoor only life, regardless of stimulation, I've found that the cats that tolerate it best are ones that have lived on the street fending for themselves and are grateful for somewhere safe with regular meals - I ev...

Re: I Have the Best Cat In The World Because ...

That is so true, Ruth, one of our directors was asking me how many cats I have the other week and when I told him I have two untouchable cats, he was like 'why would you want cats you can't touch' - obviously it wasn't a choice, but I couldn't abandon them, and there are little things that mean they...

Re: I Have the Best Cat In The World Because ...

Because she chose to accept us. Maybe a bit of an odd reason, but every time Freyja comes demanding some fuss it makes me reaslise how happy we are to have her and it is a real boost to my self esteem that she is happy to come to me and not to run away (most of the time) As for my boys, they are ju...

Re: I Have the Best Cat In The World Because ...

Lucy is good at making me relax - if I tell her we are having a sofa day, you have to make sure you have food and drink at hand, as she will lie on you for hours (normally I have to make her move when my feet start burning). Also love when she lies gazing at me lovingly. No idea about the girls thou...

Re: Poorly cat with ibd

I missed the year on the original post and was just thinking the exact same thing Molly - I'm sure when I looked into it, the mean average for not treating intestinal lymphoma was months, so I'd be very surprised it is with the length of time, unless it has recently progressed. From my reading, they...

Re: LOW BLOOD PRESSURE & HIGH HEART RATE & hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

I don't know anything about heart treatments unfortunately, but am curious why she's been put on gabapentin, that's often used for arthritis in cats, although can calm them. And that's an incredibly high dose, how heavy is your cat? My cat is just over 5kg, and when we use the tablet form, she has 5...

Have you had a urine sample checked for an infection? Some vets will let you just take the sample, which would make it a bit cheaper for you.
