I am so relieved for you!

She sounds so much like my Squeak who was a farm cat. Luckily she has accepted a domestic life, but things could all so easily have been different. We had 18 months of semi feral life with her sleeping in the garage, and I used to dread her not coming back.

Well done and thanks for helping all those cats.

Wish there were more like you. Makes me feel rather ineffective with the 6 I have helped (although I have kept them all so it's probably a good job I don't foster :D )

What a worry Mark. Before reading your post about condition of Laz's retinas I was going to query whether you were saw he saw at all. Tip's eyes look 'normal' although her pupils are often larger than most cats. They do react to light. She sometimes even follows tests like moving objects in front of...

Joe, I am so sorry to hear this.

It it totally normal to feel sad and stressed. Don't beat yourself over it. You have had to make one of the worse decisions possible. Take each hour and each day at a time. I know it is a cliche, but time is a great healer.

Re: Young kitten nursing on arm

My first cat I had after I left home used to suckle on one of my chunky knit jumpers that students used to wear in the late 80s. She did it as long as I can remember but only when she was tired. It became her comfort blanket after it got a bit too worse for wear (literally!) Some friends have a cat ...

Re: How do I cope with losing pets - long read, I need hep :

Hi Joe I joined the older version of this forum when my cat Luna was diagnosed with lymphoma. I found it very strange posting personal stuff on a faceless forum, but I was impressed with the way members literally immediately gave me lots of sound support and advice. The forum helped me through the d...

Re: Should a one eyed cat be kept indoors?

I have a totally blind cat who has access to a large cat proof garden. I also have a friend with a one eyed cat who has unrestricted access outside. Both are totally happy and I have no reason to believe that either option is better than the other, but for any cat that has previously had outdoor exp...

Re: Moving to a new house with a blind cat

I have an 8 year old blind cat. Haven't moved with her, but we have significantly renovated the house. I would keep your cat in one room to start with, and 'show' her obstacles by tapping them, and add extra rooms one at a time. Ours has access to a secure fenced garden. We use 'watch' in the same w...

Hi Kev Thanks for being so caring for your lad. I for one would have done the same and most of us here would agree. I have a totally blind cat (who has access to a secure garden) and does very well. I am sure that things will settle down once the smell of the vets subsides. Good luck to,you all Val

Re: Thinking about getting a cat, need advice!

Hello and welcome to CC I have four cats. We have cat proofed our garden to give them safe outdoor space. It is fairly easy to do by putting angled brackets on top. Two of our cats are ex farm cats and are happy enough with this. Are you planning on getting an older cat or kitten? You could start wi...

Re: cat words

I think cats have some key words they understand much like dogs. If our blind girl Tips is heading straight at something we say 'watch' and she slows down. Our first cat used to know the words 'Orph' (her name)' she, her, the cat....... I think they are as smart as dogs but less bothered to be obedi...

Hi Welcome to CC. Sorry to hear your news. My cat Luna lost her fight with lymphoma a couple of years ago. She only had a short remission and did not respond well to chemo after that. Hopefully because your cat has previously responded well you will have more luck. Fingers crossed to you both. It is...

Hi Diana Tips was the same. And because she wasn't eating we could not sneak it in with food. It was a real battle getting the meds down. The IV did help, and much as we hated leaving them, certainly helped. Henry took a linger to be his old self but they are both fine now thanks. Hope Evie is feeli...

Hi Diana

Just catching up with this.

It sounds very similar to my Henry and Tips who were both hospitalised a few weeks ago.

Vet thinks it was a nasty virus. ABs and antacids eventually worked but it was a worrying time.

Hope she picks up soon.

Fusses to her

Re: Cheyenne going AWOL

Hi Mick I hope you don't think I was in any way being critical in my suggestions. My idea that you keep the cupboard available was as she seems to be doing - that it's there if she needs it. Sheds are useful for truly feral cats who have nowhere else warm and dry. By keeping feeding her indoors mean...

I am trying to think of words not to make this sound like it does.

We have never used a cattery mainly because of Tips our blind girl. But Henry and Tios were recently hospitalised - they had their own beds etc and were fine.

I am sure your gang will be too.

Enjoy your break :D

Re: Cheyenne going AWOL

Hi Mick It sounds like you are being reasonable with your girl. I think Anna's idea if keeping food in the house and trying to get her coming in is a good one. I recently read a book called 'Tilly, the ugliest car in the shelter' by Celia Hammond. You might find it an inspiration that cats who appea...
