Vacances and older cats
Henry and Tips are now 16.5 years old They have unlimited access to a secure garden, but very rarely go into it. When we go away, my mother in law comes to live in and look after them They have had their boosters religiously every year, but given their very sheltered life, I am wondering whether the...

Blind cat and hearing loss
Our cat Tips is over sixteen years old. She has been blind since she was a kitten and has never let it stop her from having a great life. We have a large secure garden which her and her litter mate Henry can access (not that either of them do much these days) Recently Tips seems to have had more dif...

Re: Young cat now blind
I have had my girl Tips since she was 6 weeks old (we adopted her and her mummy and litter mates en masse!) She could certainly see when she first came to us. A few months later, she went through a brief period of being spooked. We assumed it was because we had friends staying. After that she settle...

Re: diabetic - help !
I would get started straight away too.
From what I understand, inirially the key is getting levels correct which can involve regular blood tests.
However, your vet is the best person to advise.
Can you find someone else to help when you are away if need be?

Re: Raw diet/non fish food
Henry has never been sick with his food before. We switched him to lily’s a while ago - all meat flavours. He had a spell of being sick after food. Noticed that he is not sick after some flavours - which are the ones without fish. In an ideal world all four would get the same food to make ordering a...

Raw diet/non fish food
My Henry is fish intolerant. He has been sick after eating meat flavour food. Looking through the ingredients there is fish or fish oils in many foods. I was considering a raw diet as a way of being sure no fish is included. I have a couple of questions - is anyone aware of food brands that are grai...

Re: Recent diagnosis of diabetes
Sarah's boy Edgar is diabetic.
I will ask her to post any advice she can give.
What I would say is that with support and treatment, there is no reason why your kitties shouldn't live a normal, healthy life. Edgar certainly does.

Hi everyone Can I pick brains??? Anyway, to cut a long query short, I was wondering whether anyone was aware of an id...

I have a flock of 11 girls and Boris our boy! They are a mixed bag of size, age, colour, rescue etc. I volunteer for BWHT on local rehome days - very rewarding!! Re: My feral cats - further advice needed!
I would also be inclined to keep things as normal as you can. Providing the kitties can't bolt and escape into danger. As Alice says, try to keep the children calm when around the cats. Can you treat them to a visit to a local park to let off steam? The cats are likely to find a place where they fee...

We put uneaten cat food out for the birds too. Our main diners are the crow family - jackdaws, magpies, rooks .......

Re: Chemotherapy for GI lymphoma
Hi Luna's appetite was very up and down while she was on chemo. On bad days we would give her anything we could tempt her with. Her weight actually increased at one point while the chemo was working and the tumours were reducing. Cats react differently to chemo. It doesn't make them loose fur or sic...

Re: Chemotherapy for GI lymphoma
Hi My girl Luna had lymphoma - we tried chemo. We were guided by the the feline advisory bureau - who said that chemo can give a good length remission in 1/3 cases and felt it was worth a shot. Luna coped amazingly well with the treatment - and our vet was excellent and discussing everything with us...

Re: Advice on caring for a blind cat
Hi Julie My ten year old girl Tips has been blind since she was about six months old. We have made the house and garden as safe as we can for her - put barriers in front of drops, cushions in front of objects she used to bash into etc. The garden is securely fenced. Other than that, we speak when we...

Tips loves a really old Next carrier. It 'lives' at the end of her play tunnel. She runs through the tunnel and charges into the bag which makes very loud noises! We do not dare take it off her!!!

Re: I think Milla is trying to kill one of the kittens
Our Henry and Tips came from a rescue with their mum Luna. We first met them when they were five days old, and would visit a few times a week until we were ready to take Luna and the babies. I remember visiting a couple of times and be quite alarmed watching Luna doing similar things to the kitten/s...
