Thank you, I'll try contacting the charity again and see if I get any joy this time.
I'd hate to just throw it, if it could help a cat out.

Food question
Sadly I lost a cat last year to urinary tract problems. I now have some royal canin urinary s/o food left. Am I alright to give this to my other cats that don't have urinary issues. I hate wasting food. I tried donating it to a local cat shelter but it ended up being more trouble than it's worth. An...

Glucosamine?
Just wondered if anyone had any experience in using glucosamine for their arthritic cats? Our girl is 16 and walks stiffly. Vet suggested metacam but stressed not to use it long term. Due to it's connection to kidney problems I think. She can still jump on to the sofa and run up the stairs, however ...

My heart aches for my little lad Jareth
I had to make the terrible choice and have my 1 year old cat put to sleep on Friday night. It was so traumatic seeing his little eyes look at me as I left the consultation room. I'm afraid I couldn't bring myself to be strong enough to be with him whilst he went, but my partner stayed with him throu...

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
Just in case any one has been following this story: Last night we had the terrible decision to make and he was put to sleep. I'm absolutely heart broken but he was uncomfortable. Not blocked but tender and passing blood. I couldn't see him carry on like that. We'd ran out of options and despite all ...

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
He's not overweight. He has the most athletic build ever! We've brought him home but he's passing blood. The vet said there's little we can do anymore. Think we're going to go back tonight and put him to sleep. Thank you for everyone's support this last week. This forum is fantastic. I don't want an...

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
Crewella he's called jareth.
He started with it 21st may, has been catheterised 4 times and also had his bladder expressed by the vets a few times too.
I wish I knew what stressed him out if that's the case.
I'm at the vets again right now!

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
I've no idea if it's stress related or not. I wish I knew. Unfortunately I can't be around all day to monitor him as I have to go to work. I just wish he understood when I said to him that if he doesn't stop this it will kill him. I've been giving him extra water and his special food arrived today. ...

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
Thanks for that advice crewella. It's so reassuring to know someone else has been through all of this. Touch wood he's alright at this minute. But that's how I feel we're all living minute by minute! He's on a high dosage of hypovase whereas before he's been on a low one when he's blocked. I'm going...

Re: cat not eating wet food
One of my cats refuses wet food completely however he does drink plenty of water alongside his dry food. I find the others go off whiskers and then I buy Felix which they wolf down and then they decide they don't like the fish ones and then next week they do. I sadly pander to them and keep going fr...

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
Is that still the case if it's presumed ideopathic cystitis?
I'm totally bewildered by everything at the minute. I get the feeling it very unclear as to what causes cystitis but seems to be on the increase

It was discussed however I don't think he has the crystal type. Think it's more to do with muscle spasms.Meandmymunki wrote:Such a terrible situation for youhave they not put him on the diet to prevent crystals forming?

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
He is insured but we've nearly got to the total he's insured up to. It breaks my heart to think its perhaps going to come down to a financial decision. I genuinely believe our vets have gone the extra mile with him but its like he doesn't want to respond to any intervention. He blocked pre op when h...

Re: Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
Update We had him back at the vets again this morning and he was blocked! I didnt think they could get blocked after they had Perineal Urethrostomy?????? We were prepared for the worst. They managed to get him to wee without general anesthetic which was good news. They did a blood test and his kidne...

Post Perineal Urethrostomy/Litter obsessed cat
Please can anyone help we are at our wits end over our boy. Hes a 15 month old moggy who mainly lives inside. However he has access to the outdoors when we are in, so this is every morning, all evening and all weekend. Up until he was a year old he was on Royal Canin dry kitten food. However we have ...
