Re: Should I give in ?

Talking of cats being shut out of certain rooms. I went away over night at the weekend leaving a friend to come and feed my three furries. When I got home, the sitting room door had been closed tight and my babies were upstairs and I could tell they were upset. I was very angry. My cats have ...

Re: Squamous Cell Carcinoma SCC Feline newly diagnosed

I am so sorry to read this. SCC is a beastly thing, I know because my beautiful boy, Dave had it on his nasal plenum. It started as a small spot and I was told it was ok. It started to get bigger and we tried all sorts until one of the practice vets suggested we try cryotherapy. It made not a scrap ...

Re: Recurring Fever in young cat.

Thank you Booktigger and Lillith. It’s nice to be back and seeing some of the names I remember. Bertie seems ok at the moment and is charging around as a 7 month old kitten should do. :P After my Dave was PTS a year last February, I decided to adopt again and I contacted the CPL and met brother and ...

Recurring Fever in young cat.

I have a seven month old neutered male. About a month ago, I noticed he was lethargic and miserable. Still eating a little (wet and dry food) and drinking. Visit to vet and he had very high temperature and she suspected a dose of cat flu. So Bertie had antibiotic and anti inflammatory injections and...

Dave Update.

Hello all. I haven’t been on here again much lately as my Dave took up much of my time and everything was neglected. Sadly, I had to have my dear boy PTS on Tuesday afternoon. The squamous cell carcinoma on his poor nose had spread and he was very poorly. His wonderful vets did everything they could...

Re: I don’t know what to do!

Thank you so much everyone. :) Dave had a bad day yesterday and when he has one, so do I; but I have to try and hide it and suppress the sobs so as not to upset him. But he had a good sleep curled up with me in bed last night. I will look for a holistic vet in Norwich as I honestly don’t think...

Re: Had to say goodbye to our Beautiful Boy

I am so very sorry for your loss, Bobbi. I know that all the things you are feeling are very normal when grieving. Guilt, relief, the what ifs etc. I know that all the wonderful people here will empathise with your grief and sadness, as I do. And you will be supported along the way. I have a cat, Da...

I don’t know what to do!

As most of you know, my Dave has SCC on his nose. He has had cryosurgery but I don’t know if it’s done much good tbh. The thing I’m now struggling with is when to have my boy PTS. He’s still eating well, washing and going out to the loo. But I honestly don’t know if he’s in pain or just in discomfor...

Prescription and ordering online.

As my vet charges over £25 for a medium bottle of Metacam, I was thinking of ordering online as I see it’s so much cheaper. However, I don’t know what the procedure is; do I request a prescription by email from the vet and attach it to the order, or does one use ‘snail mail’ and send the script by p...

As he is a white cat, I’d have a vet check your boy out ASAP.
Hopefully, it is something easily treated but I’d err on the side of caution.

Good luck and let us know how it goes with the little guy.

Re: Moving House - Advice Required

Hi Jewelz and welcome, When I adopted my cat Dave who was a stray, I was very worried about letting him out. So I kept him in for about a month. When I did let him out, I stayed with him and watched all exits to the courtyard (complete with a large sweeping brush  ) He soon worked out where he ...

Hi fjm in line with Red Wine Lady, sending you & Dave +ve thoughts & to let you know we’re thinking of you both. Booktigger posted support in your first post. Did the vet give any advice other than giving the diagnoses? Fusses to Dave. No, Mayday, to be honest it’s like they’ve seen that it...

Best food for Cat with cancer

Can anyone recommend a good commercial food (possibly a raw food) for a cat fighting cancer. At the moment, Dave eats Sheba or Gourmet or Whiskas but I want to give him the best. I have read that a high protein, low carbohydrates diet is best, with the very best being home cooked or raw food. Also, ...

Squamous Cell Carcinoma on nose

Hello everyone, I haven’t been on the forums for a while and I’m sorry for that. I’ve had so many issues to deal with in the past year. As some of you remember, I adopted Dave, a stray cat from Ipswich in 2014 and brought him home on the train. He’s been such a Godsend and so affectionate with me. I...

Dave's results!

Hi everyone. I got Dave's biopsy results back today, and apparently the lesion on his nose could be some kind of infection. But it could also be a tumour, however, the chances of it being malignant are very slim. So that sounds a bit positive. :) That sounds as though they're not sure what it is rea...

Dave has had biopsy.

Dave had his needle biopsy today on his poorly nose. He was such a good boy but his nose looks ever so sore now. :( I thought he would have to have been sedated or something but it was done in a jiffy in one of their treatment rooms. Anyway, he is now upstairs recovering from his ordeal, poor little...

I am sorry to hear that, Vic. Poor Daisy and poor you. I know how you must be feeling right now. You say the test results for the pancreas were clear and the kidney disease is minimal. So, I'm sorry to ask, but is it definitely a tumour? Or wouldn't they know without exploratory surgery. I ask becau...

That sounds exactly like my rescue cat Dave, Cassandra. He has always been very affectionate and loving, but like you, my chest and shoulders were covered in scratches in the early days. :? He would tuck his head under my chin with his paws around my shoulders. So lovely but often turned quite painf...

Well, the vet thinks the lesion is looking better and 'flatter' so that's good. I now have to put some mild steroid drops on his nose once a day as well as bathing it once a day. Oh, joy of joys!!! I have to do that for a week and if not much improvement, he may have to have a needle biopsy ...

Thank you folks. Yes, I thought that it might be the fleas last stand() making Dave uncomfortable. But the lethargy was a bit worrying.
I shall speak to the vet' tomorrow when he goes for his nose check. :)

Advocate and bad reaction

I used Advocate on Dave on Wednesday after buying from the vet. On Wednesday evening, the poor little soul didn't know what to do with himself. Scratching, twitching, licking and very restless. I was combing fleas off him at 3am. :o And for the last two or three days he has been very lethargic and s...

Thank you for your wise advice everyone. I think, after reading your posts and giving it some thunk, I'll give up the idea of a kitten. Because Dave was a stray and because he settled very well with me, I don't want him to feel ousted in any way. As you say, LittlePen, Dave is an Alpha male in tempe...
