Re: Cat doesn't eat well after teeth extraction.
cats are well known for trying to eat dry food after having teeth extracted, although 28 is a very major event have you tried soaking her usual dry food until it's completely mushy? it wouldn't give her the texture she wants, but the taste would be familiar if her mouth is going to be sore for a whi...

Re: Chronic Upper Respiratory Infections for almost a year
I found this Q and A which might be helpful Hi Bisolvon has been very helpful in treating my Persian cat who suffers regularly from blocked nose and sinuses which makes breathing very hard work for her. When asked our vet advised it was possible to keep her on Bisolvon on an ongoing daily basis, whi...

Re: For those who feed their cats Felix, has anyone noticed that their cats have stopped eating it?
after years of feeding the cat who lives outside in my garden chicken, Gourmet and Felix AGAIL, and him leaving loads for the slugs and magpies, I find he eats up every scrap of tinned Tesco own brand and Whiskas in jelly - which is saving me a fortune and I am relieved not to have a bin full of unr...

Re: Cat sneezing
did either vet mention chronic rhinitis, as this is what it sounds like to me it's fairly common in cats, and not serious - if the discharge thickens or turns yellow or green, then a course of abs, or injections, will be necessary,, but the condition is incurable you might find she needs food which ...

Re: Suspected oral squamous cell carcinoma
I have no experience of this particular cancer, but lost a cat to soft tissue sarcoma 6 years ago. It presented as a tumour in the pelvic area, which made removal very difficult. Because he hated leaving the house, I decided I would avoid all vet visits after the diagnosis, and concentrated on keepi...

I'd trust the vet on this one too - urinary crystals and kidney disease are both very common in cats, and every vet should be experienced in treating both.

Re: Help with adopted semi feral cat
What a lovely story. 6 months isn't that long for a cat to settle after such a long period of living alone outside. She is young enough to change quite a lot in the months and years to come. I'm not surprised she still feels at the moment uneasy sometimes if she things someone is getting too close, ...

my rule of thumb has always been the noise they make - growling accompanied by hackles raised is true aggression, and a danger sign, but hissing and pawing is warning without danger

you've done wonderfully by this cat - no cat could ask for a better rescuer
and I would look on the room you had him in as ready for another desperate cat, should one call out to you for help - believe me worse than the loss you feel now is being unable to help a cat in distress

could his mouth still be sore from the dental work? Does he seem to want to eat but can't? If the treats he eats are hard, I would be inclined to try him with a small kibble dry food - a kitten one perhaps - experimenting with kibble will be less wasteful and you can leave it down for longer my 12 y...

I have a litter tray in my sitting room, and use a very fine silica litter https://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter/silicate_litter/502945 advantages are it's very lightweight, so easy to handle, I have never smelt anything left in it, it dries out poos which I flush away, doesn't track too mu...

They seem to be content with their lives - I must admit I have had to revise my opinion on what cats need to be happy, since I got Penny - she spends 60% of her time in my bedroom, alone, and goes out into the enclosed garden only once or twice a week for 10 minutes max. She is very bonded with me, ...

there used to be a scheme whereby certain vets offered neutering for only £10 at certain times, as part of a scheme set up by Cats Protection - you could try asking your nearest branch if it still exists, and if they can help if you could get the cat to the vet with help your mother would be unlikel...

my suggestion in these circumstances is to take out a new credit card, with as long an interest free period on purchases as you can find, and keep it by in case of a big vet bill if you do incur a big bill, the payments to clear the card would very likely be less than insurance payments and any exce...

I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to Charlie - the pain does fade in time, but the scar always remains I would just say though that before getting another kitten I would wait a month or so to see how Lola reacts to being an only cat - it is not at all unknown for a cat previously aloof to become a...

looking at it from her point of view, I think it is better the kittens don't alter her usual way of life more than necessary, so allowing her to come and go may be best would it be a good idea to let the kittens out separately for a couple of weeks, so as not to overwhelm her? and you may find it ea...
