Re: Cat collars (yes or no)

All my cats have had collars - flea type, reflective, with elastic section (I always had them quite loose) and medallion with address and phone numbers. I did try a fast release one once but it kept coming off. The one cat that got lost didn't have a collar at the time and after that I put one on. I...

Re: My cat is missing almost 2 weeks now

Have you tried the local cat rescue charity and the local vets in case they have taken her in ? She may be ok cats usually find some kind person to feed them. One young cat I had that was quite timid disappeared but came back home after 3 months ! If your cat is timid it may have panicked and got lo...

Re: Should I let him out?

hi - could you may be in a morning give him his food outside in the garden and stay with him - will he walk around the garden with you to confirm that is his territory? Or may be better to take him out with you before he is fed when he is hungry and then tempt him back in with food after a while. Ju...

Re: Anger, denial and longing.

So sorry about your cat it is devastating when they leave you which ever way that happens. I cried when I read your post. You received very wise replies which will be of great help to you I'm sure. I'm just wondering if a talk with the vet to explain to you in more detail in response to your worries...

Re: How do I stop my new cat peeing on carpet

I found "Thomas Cat Litter" the best and easy to empty the used bit of litter as it clumps very well after a half hour. Agree if you can't sort it almost right away then 2 trays would help. I had two for my cat and she used one to pee in and one to poo in ! Even though it wasn't left for l...

Re: taking a cat on holiday in UK

Thanks for that - yes it is so true it could be the luck of the draw - I have been lucky in the past - the first tabby cat we had I took her on holiday where we stayed in a cottage and I took (or she took me) round the back garden on a lead first day until she got used to surroundings - 3rd day we l...

Re: taking a cat on holiday in UK

Thank you for your reply - what a nightmare for the cat and you! That guy shouldn't have any cat to abandon. Getting a dog has been suggested to me before but although I like dogs and enjoy taking a family dog long walks I love cats more. I am a cat person and think a dog would be too tying as I liv...

Re: taking a cat on holiday in UK

thank u for your replies - I was thinking of getting a Bongo camper van as now retired want to get around UK and don't want to be leaving a new cat behind as circumstances are different now as neighbours have passed or moved away - I've taken Felix away to stay in holiday cottages (but many seem hap...

Re: can't forget not with her at the end

Thank you fjm -I have found this article very interesting and helpful - and it also rings true with me that I haven't felt guilt as I didn't choose not to be with Felix but that I have had overwhelming regret in that I didn't make things happen differently - as time passes that torture is becoming l...

Re: Abandoned tomcats - RSPCA not doing anything!

Just seen your post as new to cat chat - I am interested to know what eventually happened about the cats you talked about in your post - did you give them a home. ? I'm sure the owner would have been happy to let you take them in ?

Re: can't forget not with her at the end

Thank you so much for your reply and all the things you say - you are right that I had been saying goodbye to Felix for sometime. Your words are helping me to come to terms with what happened. I was with one cat while she had the sedative - it was a very quick, gentle procedure, and not at all trau...

Re: can't forget not with her at the end

Thank you very much for your reply - it has has given me a little reassurance in your knowledge of the effects of sedation and why most vets do more procedures without the owner being there although I will always believe Felix would have wanted me with her. I would have been calm while I was with h...

can't forget not with her at the end

I had to have my cat Felix put to sleep 3 weeks ago - she was nearly 20 years old and I had always promised not to let her suffer at the end by letting things drag on. So I was determined to be strong for her. I asked if she could have a sedative first and the week before the vet I spoke to said it ...

I am new to this forum so just seen your post - I wonder what has happened since August ? I hope you have the cat back if not I do hope you will find you are able to give another cat a lovely home as you are obviously so caring. I had a similar situation a number of years ago. A cat from the top of ...
