Re: New cat stealing other cats food

Thanks for your replies. What he does is come in (through a faulty catflap which i'm currently trying to fix), eat everything in sight, then fall asleep on the sofa for hours! He's only been around a few months, and I think I agree he's still in "stray" mode & not sure where the next m...

New cat stealing other cats food

I've just adopted a stray boy but whenever he's in the house he eats everything he can find, and I mean everything! My other 3 cats are quite upset, as they're used to free feeding and there's dry food down for them at all times. I'm having to put the stray outside overnight, so as to give my other ...

Foster cat with issues

Hi, I'm fostering a cat who's been through a horrible experience - her owner killed himself in front of her and she was stuck in the room with the body for 24 hours or more. Then she was roughly grabbed and taken to the vets after the body was found. She's been in a cage at her vets for about a week...

Panacur granules 1.8g sachet - kitten dosage

Hi, I'm fostering a small kitten - about 800g in weight. She's not gaining enough weight at the mo so I think she's got worms. I only have Panacur granules in the house, can I use this on her food and if so, how much should I use? Thanks

Re: Kittens not weaning at 7 wks

A week later, one kitten's eating solids, one's sort of interested but only in 1 type, the other two are still terrified of food! Tried the mince, no interest at all. I was told by the people I foster for to force-feed them with sloppy mousse and a little spoon, which I've done but they're still not...

Re: Moving home with a newly blind cat - advice needed

Moving house with a blind cat These are not definitive rules, but common sense guidelines. For the most part they are similar to settling a sighted cat into a new home - starting with one room and expanding this territory over time. For a blind cat, you will need to take extra care that the surround...

Kittens not weaning at 7 wks

Hi guys, I'm fostering mama moggie and 4 kittens. Kittens nearly 7 weeks old, but not interested in solid food yet (except for one who will lick a bit of Whiskas kitten food). All they want is mum's milk! I've tried just about everything including baby food, sardines, kitten formula, baby rice, 3 ty...

Re: Cat intros

Over a month down the line, Eddy's gone back to the rescue and got rehomed almost straightaway (YAY!). Meanwhile, the once-sweet and quiet Ozzy has turned into a very rough-playing kitten who loves to rugby-tackle the old girls! They obviously hate it but for some reason they don't retaliate, they j...

Re: Cat intros

Well, it's now 3 and a half weeks, and the four have finally met in the living room last Friday. At first, it didn't go too bad, there was a lot of suspicious looks from my girls who were sat at the top of their cat tree and looking down at the new boys. They were too busy exploring the room to both...

Re: Cat intros

Thanks for your replies. To answer your queries yes, all 4 are neutered, and the girls have 2 kitty litters indoors. Will not keep them in tho, I think that will stress them even more, plus they cannot go far as the garden is secure. It's now day 8, and things are improving slightly... the girls hav...

Cat intros

Oh dear.... just added 2 young (less than a year old) moggie boys to our family 4 days ago. My two Ragdoll girls (11 years old, sisters) are showing their displeasure by staying out in the garden from morning to night time when we physically bring them in, apart for quickly coming in a couple of tim...

Re: Dilemma

Thank you for your helpful replies. I've now made my mind up, won't bother volunteering with them as this is totally against my principles, and will defo tell them why when I contact them. This is the London branch of a major national charity, they used to rehome FIV cats but have recently changed t...

Dilemma

Hi, I'm in a bit of a pickle - I've been accepted as a volunteer cat carer at a rescue shelter in London. However, chatting with the shelter manager, I've discovered that they routinely put to sleep any cats that test positive for FIV. This has shocked me, and am now wondering whether to start volun...
