I'm pleased to say I now know where my visitor came from and am waiting to hear if his owner wants him back.

The one I have doesn't seem to be yours, tail straight and no collar (though he may well have lost one - he has a serious scrape right down his back and various other places and looks as if he got locked in somewhere and dug his way out). I've found a friendly and talkative B&W cat. Very hungry. White bib, paws and upper lip. Has a partly healed scrape along back, but no signs of distress or infection.
