Re: BARNEYS ILL WITH BLADDER PROBLE YET AGAIN.....SO MISERAB

Thanks Julie. Yes I can see there's definitely a pattern forming!! However I'm hoping that Fluffy might be turning a corner so all we need is for Barney to be ok now :) Xxx

Re: BARNEYS ILL WITH BLADDER PROBLE YET AGAIN.....SO MISERAB

Poor boy. It will have taken it out of both of you! At least he sounds comfortable now. With something like this if the vet says he needs to see him then you have no choice :( I know you'll be dreading it but at least Barney doesn't know about it yet. Hopefully he'll have a good nights sleep which m...

Thinking of you tonight Julie and will be in the morning too. Hope Barney is more comfortable. It's such a terrible worry for you. Let's hope the vet can get it sorted Xxx

Re: BARNEYS ILL WITH BLADDER PROBLE YET AGAIN.....SO MISERAB

Oh Julie!! Poor Barney and poor you. Do you have any metacam in? That can be useful to relieve discomfort or pain associated with cystitis. You could give him some rescue remedy to help calm him down as I know he gets distressed when he's straining. It's going to seem like a long time to wait until ...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Hi Shelly, thanks so much for that :) . I really appreciate the research you've done. That's very helpful. I had no idea about aspirin being an antiplatelet. Very interesting what it says about fish oil helping the effects of aspirin. Fluffy chose the best part of the day to be out on the decking as...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Hi Eliz Thanks so much for your advice and concern. Yes it's been an upsetting time and a roller coaster of a ride. Your foster boy has very similar problems to Fluffy. Poor lad. That website is a wealth of information. I refer to it whenever I have another issue that arises with Fluffy. Sometimes I...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks Mark I'll look forward to getting them in the post :) I've opened the second tin of Thrive and she's already had just over a quarter. Phew! I'll keep going til bed time with the little and often routine. It'll be great if she finishes another one. The support you're all giving is definitely s...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Well I am pleased to report that the little girl has finally finished a whole tin of Thrive chicken :) :) . Very small amounts each time, warmed up and handfed. I will be daring to open another one later. She's trying her best to improve! Mark I can't promise Fluffy will eat them but she is so unpre...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks again for your good wishes and suggestions. Sarah you made me laugh. I wish Fluffy would take note! Just a quick update. She has had two spoonfuls of Thrive chicken. On two separate occasions that is. I warmed them up each time and with a little encouragement she managed it. She's not in dist...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks again for your encouragement and suggestions Xx Mark I don't have a co-op nearby but if the Thrive doesn't work then I might have to ask a friend to go and get some cooked chicken. Nearest one is about 10 miles away or so. Fluffy doesn't like the pate type foods. You'd think she would as ther...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thank you all so much for your support and for thinking of us. Well she hardly ate anything over night. She woke me by being sick around six this morning. Seemed bright in herself though. I've handfed her some sardines. Had to give it her in very tiny amounts, almost rolled into a ball before she wo...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks for thinking of us Val and Sue Xx Well she isn't doing as well as I'd hoped tonight. I'm even struggling to get her to eat cooked chicken. Will have another go soon at some handfeeding. I'll have to switch to the sardines if the chicken doesn't work. She's sleeping a lot. Seems to be going fr...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks so much Julie for your offer. She definitely isn't keen on the chicken and pumpkin :( I ordered some Thrive chicken last night so it should be coming tomorrow. I ordered two packs. Forever the optimist :) She's retreated to behind the tv now which is a place she goes to when she's not feeling...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Awww thanks so much Shelly :) Well I've just tried her with some of the Applaws chicken and pumpkin. She needed quite a lot of tempting which I was surprised at. But she finally allowed me to handfeed it to her. She's only had a small amount but at least it's something. I've got the Applaws sardine ...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks for thinking of the little girl Sarah and thanks for your suggestion. I specifically asked about her going on fluids etc for her kidneys. He said ...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Hi Julie. Glad that the lovely Barney likes Thrive Chicken. Thanks for letting me know. It certainly sounds promising. Fluffy has just had a little bit of warmed chicken this morning and is now resting on my bed. She is drinking and weeing much more these last few days. I don't know if that is down ...

Re: My senior cat has diarrhoea

So sorry to hear about your lovely girl. It is the hardest decision ever and it never gets any easier no matter how many pets we have had over the years. Lisa was a lucky girl to have you look after her and to make this decision for her to end her suffering. What a beautiful photo you have of her. S...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks all for your encouragement. Really appreciate it! Helen and Mark I think Fluffy might have proved your theory to be true. Her preference today has definitely been the chicken. I tried to vary her meals by giving her some sardines but she needed a lot more tempting with that than she did with ...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks Helen and Jill. I tried her again on a different brand of cat food earlier. A very strong smelling one that she has liked in the past (I have a cupboard full of almost every variety). I warmed it up and tried to make it as tempting as possible and then attempted to handfeed her. She took a ti...

What great photos Helen :) That is one settled and very happy boy. He's doing great with his weight. Glad he's getting more affectionate and learning that laps are nice places to be. What a transformation!! He probably thinks you are very kind to put those ladders there just for him :D

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks Val. That's interesting about Luna. Fluffy will often go and sit by the place where she knows I will put her bowl down but when I put it down she walks away. I don't think I'll waste precious time in waiting for her to eat normal food if she's not keen.

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thank you all so much for your replies. I really appreciate your suggestions. I will be making a list of them all so I have plenty of options. The little girl is definitely more perky this morning. I'm sure that is purely down to the fact that she now has food inside her (sardines). She is more voca...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thanks Sue. It was sardines in tomato sauce that the vets suggested for Fluffy last year. They suggested it because it's so stinky!! I bought some more today and she's had a little tonight. Chicken is the only other food that will tempt her at the moment. Poor Tommy. Sorry he's losing weight. I reme...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Thank you for your kind words of support and advice. It's such a worrying time. I just want to give her as comfortable a life as she can have for whatever time she has left.
