Experiences with Locator? Looking for some tips

Having lost my precious girl twice and this time had her found by a wonderful person, I'm thinking of putting a Locator on her collar. Does anyone have experience of this? Are there options and has it been successful for you? They look very big on the packaging and my girl is very small and slim wit...

Re: Lost in Bramhall, Stockport. Missing Cat. 1 year old. F

I am SO happy for you!!! My baby went missing Wednesday morning and she is a confident outdoor cat, but my wonderful cat sitter found her on Thursday evening - she'd obviously been scared and disoriented and had wandered out of her territory. It's just so wonderful when they're home, isn't it! I'm s...

She is found! My cat sitter search for three hours and managed to get her. I am so relieved and grateful - she will be getting a gift when I return!

I hope Troy is feeling better and is eating something nutritious today. Give him a little 'fuss' from me.

Re: Forever Home needed

Dear Bimp, so sorry to hear about your trauma with Alex. How awful that you have now found ourself in the position of having to find another home for her because you are so scared. It does sound like something frightened her and you were experiencing redirected aggression, which was directed at you ...

Oh poor little Daisy! I'm so sorry to hear about this. I think you've summed up the situation very well when you said 'when I get her to calm down, the boys don't pay attention to her'. I have aha similar issue at home between two of the cats where the growling and hissing with fear is seen by the o...

Thank you, Meldrew. The awful thing is that I'm now on a train go goo the other end of the country for an important meeting with my precious still missing. I won't be back until Sunday night. I have done a leaflet drop of my immediate neighbourhood and instructed the cat sitters to look out for her ...

Re: I thought it was a grub on my cat's neck - now I'm perpl

Hi, This is a quick message as I've got to go to work and I've lost one of my cats yesterday - she hasn't come home - my baby - but it's good to try and think of other people's dilemmas as I feel so helpless at the moment. I'm glad Troy's got antibiotics and is being treated. It could well be an abs...

Re: Is the cat going feral or is it something else?

If there are no dwellings close where she could have actually established an alternative food source, and she' still coming for food, I'd be inclined to think that due to a combination of the warm weather AND her new security in that she will always be fed when she comes morning and evening, she doe...

Re: I thought it was a grub on my cat's neck - now I'm perpl

I think the idea is that if it's a grub is coming OUT not in, and eventually would drop off and pupate. However if it burst or didn't remove cleanly it could leave toxins in the cat's body which could in turn cause anaphylactic shock...

Re: I thought it was a grub on my cat's neck - now I'm perpl

Interestingly I've read that rabbits are often prone to this - and flies often lay their eggs around rabbit holes, so maybe this is not the first time your cat has visited the rabbits... If it can be seen it may be working it's way out having been there some time - but they can be very serious if th...

It sounds in description like a Cuterebra http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/parasites/f/FAQ_cuterebra.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; But at 1 inch wide and 2 inches long - well that is huge! Agree, get her to a vet straight away! The brushing is obviously irritating her sore skin and there are complex issues here - she needs to see the vet.

Re: Lost in Bramhall, Stockport. Missing Cat. 1 year old.

If she wandered into the park she might well find a fairly dense bush to hide under - unlike the popular idea of cats they don't generally climb trees when they are scared, they look for a hole to hide in or some other area they can defend against predators. So I would get over to the park and look ...

Hello Cookie - so sorry to hear your baby is missing - as she's only young and nervous but affectionate there's a VERY good chance she's strayed into someone's shed and got herself locked in. It was only yesterday morning, and if they open up today she'll probably be back by midday, all being well. ...

Re: Denzel burnt his foot on the stove

Oh poor Denzel and poor you! Little monkey - I wonder what the fascination is! I would get it checked out to be honest, and at the very least phone the vet. It sounds like it is healing and the tea tree will be good, but it's hard to stop a cat licking their paws and I suspect that cat's pads are ra...

Cills, Do look at the guide to regional cat rescues on this site and start ringing and leaving messages - be prepared that these people are volunteers and things are very busy... The other thing is that you may have to concentrate on homing one in the first instance as you may not find places with s...

My! 10 years of Fostering! That's quite an achievement in itself; I've read how hard others have found it - but to have seen 178 on their way to loving homes is amazing. Lot of heartache there as well as joy, I'm thinking. Met a woman last night I hadn't seen for years, who had been told I was now a...

What a lovely boy! Please make sure you personally check sheds and neighbour's gardens - if he's been stuck for a few days as it sounds he might be weakened and not respond if a stranger looks in a shed, for example - he'll need to hear your voices and smell familiar smells.

I do hope you find him.

Oh poor Holly! I'm sure you are, but please be very active in looking for her - there are lots of guides on here for lost cats, but I would say concentrate on 5 houses around yours in each direction and ask if you can personally check sheds and gardens. If she is anxious (particularly with her disab...

Yes please! Same thing with the male - get him neutered and he will not smell like a threat, behave badly, 'spray' if his territory is threatened or get testicular cancer... Males are often quite happy to be submissive to a female 'indoors' when they are neutered, even if outside they vie for territ...

I have NO experience of this at all, but it occurs to me that the blue eyes and interesting markings (they are gorgeous by the way) could suggest they have some special genes and it may be that they don't retain their birth hair but will grow new coats... Looking at this page about hair-loss in cats...

Hi and well done for rescuing this poor cat - sounds like you've been rewarded with two gorgeous girls who you love very much. To be honest with you I wouldn't worry too much at this stage, but I think there are some dominance issues going on with your two. Female cats become sexually mature any tim...

Please be careful to check the authenticity of people who offer to take your cats. It is important that they are really going to caring homes. Becky, you need to post with your location in the title and I would suggest to get in touch with the rescues in the area where you could offer your cats for direct re-homing - so that they stay with you until a home is found and vetted by the rescue. Pictures of your two lovely cats would help as we...
