Re: FOUND Black unneutered male - Enfield EN1 4NN - **NOW ADOPTED**

Thanks Crewella - and Mike, I know you meant well! I established after two weeks that I could pick this lad up without him even extending his claws - so after the statuatory period and collar & paper tag, advertising him locally and nationally, contacting RSPCA and local rescues (who forwarded his d...

FOUND Black unneutered male - Enfield EN1 4NN - *NOW ADOPTED*

Bobby.jpg This delightful boy (very definitely an unneutered male (has arrived at our 'Cat Cafe' for feeding every day since 28th Feb. He was initially very scared but ravenous. Now not so scared of us, but scared of coming indoors and has had a couple of run-ins with our Tom (who is neutered but v...

Re: Feeling depressed over my cats behaviour and need help

I'll probably be vilified for saying this Personally, although it's not an outcome anyone wants, I think MarySkater's is an understandable comment, particularly considering the physical damage Hugo inflicts. If he were a dog, the recommendation probably would be to put him to sleep if he randomly a...

Re: Nightmare with stray Maine Coon

I don't know anything about specialist rescues but I would take your vet up on the offer of a trap, and catch this beauty. For all you know he or she may be chipped and the mystery of ownership would be solved. There's also an issue of whether the cat is neutered/spayed or not - I would think imposs...

Re: Possible health problems with feral cats

I've had several ferals and ex-strays and agree with the others. In my experience, they're not very forgiving of failed attempts to trap them and get warier and harder to trap the more you try, but seem to forgive much more easily if you do manage to catch them and get them sorted. Sometimes, I thi...

I'll post not that I have any experience with new kittens but just to reassure you that as far as I'm concerned it's great that you're asking, and to say well done for taking such good and sensitive care of Milla and her kittens. From what you've said I don't think she's trying to kill him (or he wo...

Anna, I've posted to you by the other post, but in case you don't read it I'll copy here. I wanted to say that no-one and nothing will ever 'replace' Binky and she will always be in your heart, but I think once you've loved cats you'll always be able to love them - how otherwise would we be able to ...

Hello Platform38 and welcome to Catchat! Your lovely Mabel sounds quite a character and a very determined lady. I can imagine the likely first thought is that Mabel is finding it difficult living with a toddler, but I tend to think this is not the reason for her behaviour. I too let my girls out the...

Re: 'Death Row' foster cats

Well done for taking on these little ones - they must be so confused, particularly if they've never been outside. Yes, I think you're right about re0thinking your response to the family. It's easy for people to criticise on paper, but when you actually connect with people's lives you realise how dif...

Re: Vibes for Buster please

Poor little lad - he's definitely not feeling himself, is he. I hope the vet can give him something to make him more comfortable - it could be that he's in pain at the moment. I think you'll be at the vet sooner and he might need some intravenous fluids unless you can get water into him. x

Re: Toilet behaviour

Hi - agree with the posts about dominance - it sounds like he's a dominant and confident kitten and he's showing it by keeping his poops in full view (and smell). It also suggests he is confident and unafraid. I have five and there are changes in burying/revealing behaviour dependent on what's happe...

Thinking of you and Buster today. Does he like those creamy licky-sachets? They might get vitamins and some fluids into him. Headbutts and fusses to the lovely boy - so worrying for you but I hope it's just a blip. xx

So, so sorry to hear this. Poor darling little Lilycat. She was a truly beautiful baby. Her family must be devastated too. She looks so like my little black 'baby' Lara, who is so foolhardy and stupid that I've stopped her going outside now. Although Lilycat's life was short it was happy and that wa...

Re: Please help - cat with respiratory distress at our vet

SO glad you found a sensitive vet - and got the diagnosis you needed. So important to treat cats properly and talk to them! I echo comments about ex-ferals - my little Jessie hates all other humans than those she has bonded to and is terrified of the vet - so spends the consultation with her head tu...

Don't give up! Trapping really is the only way, and you will get some frogs before you get the prince - if you know what I mean. I've had it take 3 weeks, and I've had it take 5 months - but the latter was an exceptionally wily character who lived wild in the neighbourhood for years. We got him in t...

Re: cats arguing/being chased by younger cat

I agree with Crewella that this is a difficult one - you can rarely predict how dynamics will change in multi-cat households when things change or you add or subtract a member. And the relationships between each cat and the others can be totally different. I have five and there is some enmity betwee...

Has anything changed in the home recently, which might have disturbed him? Otherwise it sounds like he's just got himself a bad habit which, without anything else to interest him at that time of the night, he is perpetuating. Only two things I can suggest - one is to wear him out with active ...

I'm so sorry to hear what happened to your precious Chloe. You were doing the kindest thing for her and you must be so traumatised from what actually happened. What a beautiful little lady! I strongly recommend you get in touch with some of the excellent rescues in your area with a view to having them handle the finding of a new home whilst she stays with you on a temporary basis. There are links to regional rescues in your area on the CatChat Home page. T...

Poor Zig!! I don't know how things are going but I was following this post and hoping for some improvement for you. From the sound of the random passing whacks Elsie needs Zig to know she's dominant, but the fury she exhibits when she meets him outdoors is totally disproportionate. Sounds almost lik...

Yes, it is - in my mind's eye I see a tiger (a larger version of our felines) who when caged will never even know the pleasure of purring to the stroke of a hand. It's no way to live. The poem about the lost beloved is terribly sad too. :'( They are our 'beloveds' aren't they...

Thank goodness you've found her. Although she's an indoor cat, please get her chipped, in case the unthinkable happens again. She also should be neutered, for her health as well as to prevent unwelcome pregnancy if she escapes whilst on heat.

Glad you're reunited.

I think it will be fine. We have a microchip cat flap which we don't currently use as one of my little girls is a danger to herself and is not allowed out, but can prize the door up on an 'Entry only' setting - and I think if it's actually LOCKED, by getting her claws under the opposing edges, prizi...
