Re: Overwhelming grief

Tracey, I have my old girl here at home and she is being cremated next week. Its weird but her being here is comforting to me. I even thought about having her freeze dried but decided this wasn't for me. Someone was telling me yesterday they have a 3D photo of their passed over dog which helps him f...

Very early signs of kidney failure

My 18 year old cat had her bloods done this week and they have all come back pretty much ok. I cant really remember what the vet said as I was so happy but one thing I do remember her saying is that my cats bloods were one number down from the very early stages of kidney disease. So she doesn't have...

Re: Overwhelming grief

Tracey, I too have depressiona and was thinking about topping myself when my cats went. I lost one two weeks ago and have one old girl remaining plus a stray boy. What I have found by reading this site, is that some people feel just as we do, but getting another cat seems to help them. I have two fr...

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Thanks Cussypat, I agree with you. It was easy to have her pts. Still dont know why she started walking with her back legs splayed - very weird to watch - my vet had never seen anything like it before. But it was a peaceful end for her. The cathetar was already in - she just faded away - it was so l...

Re: My cat pawing at face and nasal noises

Thanks Kay, but I had to have my Tezzy put to sleep last week - she had two teeth out and the anaesthetic or drugs she was given made her ataxic and stop eating. She had kidney failure and I am just worried about my old girl Oody here. I am going to have her bloods done but even if she comes back cl...

Re: My cat pawing at face and nasal noises

Shes also been dribbling slightly from one side of her mouth for the last two months. I took her to the vets a few weeks ago and they couldnt see anything wrong - they looked in her mouth and saw nothing wrong apart from elderly teeth.

My cat pawing at face and nasal noises

When my cat Oody eats something, she starts to grind her teeth - its as if she has something stuck between her teeth and she cant close her mouth properly. She sometimes gags and paws her face and Ive noticed she is making slight nasal noises lately. She also seems "off". I am going to tak...

Re: How successful are IV drips for cats with kidney disease?

Thanks everyone. Have decided my old 18 year old will not go on a drip if her bloods come back next week and she has kidney disease. I don't think so anyway - never know until the time comes do we but I'm pretty certain.

My cat seems a bit lost without Tezzy.....

My current old girl Oody never had much time forTezzy (now passed over), but since Tez has gone, Oody has been very needy with me and seems down. I am taking her for bloods next week to make sure all is ok with her.....but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this and if so, how long did ...

Re: Cat had teeth removed 2 mths ago - old problem back

My Tezzy used to do this a lot. She would paw the side of her mouth and gag. Took her to vet and an x-ray showed a hairline fracture on her jaw. The vet wired her jaw together for 6 weeks in the hope that the bones would gel together but they never did. Ive never heard of the disease mentioned in th...

Hi Wanda, I read part of your story on here when Tezzy was ill last week. I wanted to ask you - do you think you can love Molly as much as your boy? I cannot ever imagine feeling as I do about the old girl I have left now Tezzy has gone. I thought about getting an old girl from an animal rescue plac...

Re: How successful are IV drips for cats with kidney disease?

Oh yes Ive got it now - thanks a lot.

Unless I hear of success stories where cats have lived healthily for at least a year or so, Ive decided not to put any of my animals through an IV drip again. For me, its not worth it to give them a few more months I dont think.

How successful are IV drips for cats with kidney disease?

I've been reading about feline kidney disease and see a lot of cats are put on IV drips for a few days to see if it can help. I wanted to ask - how successful are IV drips for cats with kidney disease - has your cat been on one and come off better and lived a fruitful life - or, has it made matters ...

Re: What to do when your animals are all you have?

I wonder why they sometimes dont show themselves in full. I often hear about people glimpsing human ghosts out of the corner of their eyes. Weird, but we know very little I think - and we are all energy and atoms. I dont understand it but I know there is definitely something out there HUGE that we d...

Thanks Crewella. I have my ex stray FIV boy to care for and my other 18 year old girl. I learnt some hard lessons from Tezzy's illness. I wish she had never been on the IV drip but if not then I would never have known. Love her and miss her but got to be strong.

Re: Weak back legs, now front-Sugarpuff the Hufflepuff

Hi Alexandra, My almost 18 year old cat had two teeth out last week and either the anaesthetic or the meds might have reacted with her because she became ataxic walking with her back legs splayed out and then flopping down. I realised about 5 months ago that she was deaf and am wondering if she had ...

Re: Potential conflict with vet

Hi Nellie, My 17 year old cat (almost 18) had to have two teeth removed last week and when she came home she had some sort of weird effect from the anaesthetic. We did bloods AFTER the op and it showed she had kidney failure. She was on a IV drip for two days and nights and I had her pts yesterday. ...

I hope animals' do live on - selfishly I hope mine are all around me in spirit, or just happy wherever they go. I have seen a human ghost but never an animal ghost. I hope my Tezzy is happy. So up and down again today.

Hi Sue, So sorry about your loss. It is so freaking difficult isnt it. Not sure Im up for volunteering yet though. It did cross my mind to get another cat last night but the other old girl Ive had for 18 years would not like it so I think maybe best not to. Mental health education needs to be reasse...
