Re: We need an unnuetered male

Please consider what this could do your girl. Giving birth is so painful that cats cry in pain. Some cats require a C-section. Some die. The male could carry a disease that could infect your girl and the kittens. Thousands of healthy cats and dogs are being killed in the UK every year because there ...

Re: Brushes

Congratulations on your new kitty! This is a really nice brush which all of our cats love to be groomed with: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denman-D6-Shampoo-Shower-Brush/dp/B000J1AD52" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You can get a lot of hair off with this. Re: litter tray problem!!

If it's just a matter of missing the tray and not a health issue, the Van Ness High Sided Cat Litter Tray is very good. It comes in different sizes. We went for "giant".

Re: litter tray problem!!

Is she squatting in the tray but the wee is spraying over the side? Our boy used to do this and high-sided litter tray really helped.

Is she otherwise healthy? No limping or arthritis that might keep her from squatting down?

Re: Any know very well about persian cats color genetic here

My "critical" reply was based on receiving many calls from people unable to find homes for their cats for various reasons, some valid (death of owner), some not, and not being unable to find a single rescue place available anywhere in the UK. The rescues are FULL. I understand liking a particular br...

Re: Any know very well about persian cats color genetic here

Most UK rescues are FULL - not taking any more cats. People are dumping cats on the streets. Why would anyone want to bring more cats into the world while we're in this situation?

One-Eyed Cat Needs Home in Chapeltown, Leeds

We advertise on Cat Chat and get a lot of calls from people who think we're a rescue. I had a call on Monday from a man in Chapeltown, Leeds. His cat had an eye injury (thinks someone might have thrown a stone at it) so he took it to the vet and they had to remove the eye. The cat is fine now but hi...

Re: Underweight cat

It's good news that it's something that can be treated. Hyperthyroidism is very common and there are many of us in this forum with hyperthyroid cats. Our cat's thyroid readings were "crazy" too. What's important to know is that a high T4 result doesn't necessarily require a high dosage of medication...

Re: Underweight cat

I'm sorry to hear your cat is losing weight. I agree with the others about doing blood tests including thyroid and trying grain-free cat food. If it turns out she has hyperthyroidism, it's very easy to treat with Felimazole twice a day (starting out with a very low dose). As others have said, bloody...

Best wishes for the journey. If you have the type of carrier with door on the end, wrap a luggage strap around the carrier to hold it together and keep the door from popping open.

Re: A new adopted cat 10 years old

I wasn't completely awake when I posted. If she hasn't eaten anything in 1½ days, you need to put food, water and litter tray in her room urgently . That's way too long for a cat to go without food. You'll want to keep her on the food she was used to at your neighbour's until fully settled. I hope s...

Re: A new adopted cat 10 years old

It's lovely you've adopted your neighbour's cat! :) She needs time to adjust to her new surroundings and trust you. She also needs food, water, litter tray, etc, in her room. I found these articles really helpful when we adopted our 3rd cat: http://www.catchat.org/bonding.html" onclick="window.open(...

Re: Buying a cat from a breeder

I can't see any reason to buy from a breeder when there are thousands of lovely cats languishing in rescues and being put down simply because there aren't enough homes. Rescue cats are just as loving and beautiful as any pedigree cat. For those who absolutely have to have a pedigree cat, there are a...

If he's that young, you might even be able to use a finger toothbrush like this:

I wish I'd been more diligent with this when they were younger. Hindsight!

Re: Wet food and cats teeth

Two of our cats were fed dry food only for the first 9 years of their lives. They both had to have a couple of teeth removed during that time. About 8 years ago we switched them to a raw diet and since then they have both had to have a couple more teeth removed. Our vet said that some cats are pre-d...
