Re: Lost my cat at the vet. Please help.

Please don't feel guilty. You absolutely did the right thing by taking him to the vet.

The vet clinic should be helping you find him. I would also use social media in that area to try to locate him.

I hope you find him soon.

Re: Unhomable cat - out of ideas :(

I echo Sniper1's comments about your commitment and care.

As this kitty craves contact, I don't think an outdoor run is going to be a good solution for him or you.

Re: Companion advice

I'm sorry you lost Leela. :( It doesn't sound like your remaining girl (sorry I don't know her name) is craving a companion? It sounds like she's enjoying the undivided attention and lap time she's getting from you. It's possible she wouldn't welcome another cat. I still feel guilty for adopting a "...

Re: Is this fur balls?

Our cats really like raw egg yolk, but it might be difficult to control the portions, so I've just purchased egg yolk powder to see how that goes. I read somewhere that adding egg yolk powder or egg yolk lecithin to wet food might be easier and less noticeable than a raw egg yolk. They both have to ...

Re: Is this fur balls?

I agree about contacting your vet to determine the cause. If your cat suffers from hairballs, this article about using egg yolks and egg yolk lecithin might be of interest: http://www.foodfurlife.com/how-to-best-manage-hairballs.html I'm only mentioning this because our long-haired cat suffers from ...

Re: Ten year old cat pooing outside the litter tray.

Have you changed the brand of litter you use? Some cats are really fussy about the type of litter and they often don't like the scented ones. Also, check Beaker's paw pads and between his toes. One time, Teddy cut his paw on a cat toy but we didn't realise it until we noticed him going beside the li...

Re: New Kitty possible drop off

Congratulations on your new kitty! Some horrible people dump cats or move away and leave them :( but sometimes cats jump into vans and end up very far from home. So please get him checked for a microchip if you haven't already.

Has the green stool stopped?

Hi Gabbi,

A lot of people who post here don't subscribe to the thread so don't see replies, so you may want to click on Ash's profile to email directly, if you haven't already.

Good luck! :)

Re: Cat keeps coming in my house...

Because the cat is so comfortable coming in your house, he's probably a lost or abandoned cat. Please have a look at these suggestions regarding found cats: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-missing-lost-found#found I agree with the suggestions of giving him shelter and checking for a microchip....

Thank you for looking after this little one. I hope the vet keeps trying the owner - they could be on holiday. Did they give you any more info like the cat's name or where his owners lived? What does the collar look like? Is there a logo on the collar clasp? It's a long shot, but I'd like to check i...

Hi Marg, I don't recommend it. We feed wet food now but when the girls were little we fed Burns dry food. Because it was marketed as hypoallergenic, I thought it couldn't be the cause of Flo's digestion problems. She was scrawny and frequently had bloody stools. I called the company and they were ad...

It's nice of you to look after this kitty and check for a chip. Microchips are inserted by vets, rescues and individuals who charge for the service. Some of these insert the microchip and give the paperwork to the owner to register themselves. (However, the last time we had a cat microchipped, the v...

Re: Nottingham lost black & white cat

I'm really sorry that Mitzee Moo is missing. You need to get the details on the microchip checked/updated asap and also ask the microchip company to mark her as missing. You'll need her microchip number. If you don't have it, the vet that inserted the microchip should hopefully have it. If you haven...

Re: I do not have such a stupid cat

A couple of possibilities:
- If it's a static water dispenser as opposed to a filtered water fountain, you need to change the water every day.
- Some cats don't like the taste of tap water, but will drink bottled still mineral water.

Adding an FeLV section sounds like a good idea.

The focus of the site and the forum is Rescue & Rehoming, so that's probably why that comes first, followed by Health, Lost & Found, etc.

General Cat Chatting is for everything that's not covered by the sections above it.

Re: Cat peeing on doormat

Cats sometimes wee on an mat inside the door because they smell another cat outside, especially if male cats are spraying near the door. If there are any unneutered male cats about, you could encourage the owners to get them neutered. If they're young enough, it can help reduce spraying. Do you have...

Our previous two cats really enjoyed drinking and playing with water (taps, bath), so we got them a fountain and they loved it. Flo used to dip her front paws in and then lick them off - so cute. When they got old and drank a lot of water, the fountain became really important. Our current two cats a...

We fed a homemade raw diet for many years because Flo needed a grain-free diet for her IBS and there weren't any/many grain-free foods available at the time. I think what you're describing might be damage from urine and doesn't wash away.

We disinfectant weekly with Safe 4 disinfectant (I like the clear version), leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse and dry.

I'm sorry to hear that Ares isn't herself. A change in behaviour like this needs to be investigated by a vet. She could have an infection or injury that you can't see.
