Re: How to not burn out rescuing cats (mostly me venting)

In today's times centres cannot be like that. Not just because it looses them donations, etc., but because they are the forefront of advice for animal welfare. I am in no way saying we should be praising people for giving up their animals. What I am saying is we need to be understanding and non-jud...

Re: How to not burn out rescuing cats (mostly me venting)

I don't know an easy way to deal with the harder elements, other than have a like minded friend to vent to. I'm fortunate that I've never found it hard to let them go to their new homes, although there has been the odd ones, I've fostered over 200 cats /kittens. I prefer to focus on the positives,we...

Home needed for Laurence

I picked up a stray on Saturday, a lady has been feeding him for over 12 month, but didn't get on with her cats, so asked for help. When I took him to the vet, we found a chip. Couldn't get an answer, so after work, I went to the address. I've had a phone call saying they were his ex wife's cats and...

Kittens have been called Rosie and Chester, they have been to the vet tonight, they are better but still very poorly and Rosie may need an operation on her eye. The vet said it could take at least two months till they are ready for homing

Thanks, we've posted on our Facebook page. Just a shame the cats they have used obviously haven't had numerous litters, wish they'd used 'scrawnier' looking ones.

Re: Anyone got cats over 14 years old?

Buster is officially 18 this year, but he acts a lot younger than that, despite his various health issues. Molly and Zia were both 21 when I lost them. I personally recommend yearly bloods for senior cats, if you can pick up on things early enough, they can be controlled much better, and not all cat...

I'm so sorry that the news wasn't better, seems so unfair. How can they tell what kind of tumour, and how long do they think he could have before it comes back? I know where you are coming from with his other health issues, but if it's the easy one and he could have a decent amount of quality time, ...

Thanks guys - took them to the vets for the day again, and the vet nurses first comment was that they are much brighter than yesterday - this morning the little boy was trying to play with his sisters tail!! He is the bigger of the two.

Poor little kittens

We took two kittens from a multi cat household in this weekend, they are so full of flu they have spent the day at the vets and they are going back tomorrow. We were told they were 8 weeks but they are more likely 6-7 weeks. I'd post pics but they are upsetting. Fortunately despite being tiny and wi...

Hiya, I've also lost a cat to oral SCC, he had no symptoms, it was picked up when we took bloods (he also had hyper -t) and I noticed blood round his mouth. He was still eating the day I lost him. I think your doing the right thing, not operating, oral SCC doesn't have a good prognosis and with her ...

Buster has supplements for his arthritis, as the only has one kidney, we are staying off Metacam as long as possible. The vet said seraquin are the most palatable, he's gone off those now though. My neighbour noticed a difference using Hills JD diet for her arthritic cat and both her and Buster get ...

Re: Droncit vs Drontal or Milbemax

The two main worms in cats are round and tapeworm, and Droncit only does tape, which is normally associated with fleas rather than hunting, so as yours hunt a lot, I would Milbemax/Drontal them to be on the safe side.

Boris has kidney issues & won't touch renal food on its own. However we're having great success in blending a pouch of renal & a pouch of Felix Senior together. We also hide a little renal dry into the mix. Currently he wolfs half the mix in the morning & half for his tea. The last coup...

Re: Tommy update - advice please!

Renal dry seems to be a lot more palatable, I've had a few needing renal food and all have been fine with various dry brands. Wet food, Royal Canin has always been the most popular. As renal is so expensive, I feed Buster a mixture of renal and senior wet and renal dry.

Re: Are cats responsible for 99% of illiteracy?

That's one advantage of a kindle, you only need one hand to read. When Molly was alive, I gave up reading in bed, she'd wait till you were ready to turn the page, then put her head on either your hand or the book, and she got away with pretty much anything
