How exciting
It's a difficult one, because you live in such close proximity to his old home. Normally I would say keep him 3-4 weeks so he has a strong sense your house is now his home but I'm not sure that would work with his old home so close.

I've also used white vinegar mixed with biological washing powder with success but that was on fabric.

You need to get Miinx neutered as a priority, this will affect her behaviour.

As Crewella says it can take a good week to get on top of URI's and sometimes longer so it might just be early days yet for lovely Morris.

Re: Domineering Cat
Yes I had a similar problem but in reverse with the new cat driving the existing cat into a very small area. I tried everything and in the end the only thing that worked was to make sure there were no flash points (I moved a water bowl and a litter tray as they were causing issues) and I asserted my...

Can you get the cat to the vet ASAP? It's clearly in a bad way and they would be able to check for a microchip too.

I agree I think something must have happened to upset Jeffery, as this sounds like redirected aggression. Is there another cat coming into his territory that's upsetting him, has he had a fright, has anything changed in his home, anything like that? Have you tried playing with them together, giving ...

Toby needs to have a strong sense that this is his new home given that you are so close to his old one, I would say 3-4 weeks.

Undoubtedly the hardest part of having furries in our lives. Someone once said on here better a day too early than a day too late, I was always thought those were wise words and when the time comes I'll be trying to follow that advice.

Re: New kitten help!
I think the existing cats is behaving as I would expect and I would leave them to sort themselves out and only intervene if they are actually fighting. Hissing and swiping is to be expected and the kitten needs to learn it's boundaries. Existing cat may also be feeling left out, I know it's difficul...

I would take the litter away and use something that's non-clumping and non-clay until you can get her to the vet.

Re: Should a one eyed cat be kept indoors?
He will adjust, I had a very outdoorsy lad who had to become indoor because of health problems (not blindness) and he adapted in time. It can be a pain with the doors and windows but we're all in a routine now and most of the time it's fine. I have mesh screens over my upstairs windows and have cobb...

Re: Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
That's really interesting Sally, I've never heard of it and it's never been discussed. The referral vet did test him for a lot of different diseases and viruses but I've no idea which and whether this was one of them. But he does tick quite a lot of those symptom boxes, I shall look into it further.

I'll certainly speak to the visit next time we're there. I'm actually pretty pleased with how is nose is looking this morning, instead of raw tissue there seems to be some new skin forming so the Aloe Vera seems to be working. When he comes out from under the bed I'll try and get another pic to show...

Re: Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
I've asked around on the Manuka honey as I was very interested in trying it on him, a scientist friend told me that you shouldn't use unpasturised honey on those with suppressed immune systems (AB's and Steroids both suppress the immune system and Hector is on both) so I would have to use the regula...

Wow that is impressive, I wonder if they still do that procedure today?
I have to say to Aloe does seem to be having a positive effect on the sore, it's shrunk a but and looks a little better.

Re: Cat VS Litter Tray
TBH I wouldn't tell him off it can make the problem worse. How many litter trays do you have? If you only have one try adding another, cats often don't like going for a wee and a poo in the same place. It might also be worth popping him to the vet to make sure there's nothing medical going on like a...
