Re: New member

Hi May, welcome to CatChat! I am slave to just one (Denver) but I know the joys of a multi cat house too - when my neighbours cat Mischa (who eventually adopted us) decided to have her litter of kittens on my mums bed at midnight we ended up with a grand total of 8 - 4 of our own, Mischa plus 3 kits...

Re: Cat flap - cats are too posh to push !

Denver also has one of those microchip flaps, but he is used to using it - but he's so funny, he doesn't push it with his head, he uses a paw! He keeps bashing it until it opens, then he sticks his head through with his paw holding it open! He also likes to look out to check its safe before going ou...

Re: Poo partly in and out of the litter box.

Sophie is a beautiful boy, Alan (how about just knocking the "E" off the end to make Sophi?)! One trick I tried with my elderly pair (now both at Rainbow Bridge) was to put a shallow "normal" tray across the entrance to the primary tray, that way, if they "missed" it en...

I'm so sorry Gemma, I know its much easier to say than to do but please try not to feel guilty. You gave Penny a wonderful home for 4 years with lots of love - many cats don't get that. Try to focus on your many happy memories of her, and as you say, its hard at the moment but it will get easier wit...

Re: I think her time is drawing near

These stories don't surprise me at all. My Mum died of stomach cancer in 2002 and in the 6 months prior she was in and out of hospital and the hospice very regularly, mostly having at least a week away from the house. Biscuit, my first much loved cat, a ginger/white tabby adored my mum. During the t...

Hi Jo, I'm sorry to hear about Cosmic. They haven't told Denver about the "affection" part - when he gets on my lap he really snuggles up high for a cuddle and he really loves a tummy rub when he wants it!! But I agree with most of the rest.

Hi Shawn, welcome to CC.

I would also echo the other advice to see what your Vet has to say, I've also had no experience with anything like that but it doesn't look very nice!

Hello and welcome from me too.

I'm so sorry about your cat, and that is a lovely way to remember him, don't worry about feeling angry and upset - when we lose our cats, its losing one of the family - especially one still quite young.

RIP dear puss, enjoy Rainbow Bridge.

Take care, Helen

Re: Lump on stomach. Abcess or tumour?

Hi and welcome to CatChat. I have had very recent experience with abcesses but I got my cat to the Vet before a lump could form, so I'm not sure if this would be an abcess or not (I lost over £300, so I sympathise with your credit card too!). My late cat Kitten also had a stomach lump which turned o...

Re: Will our cat become cuddly?

When my late cat Kitten adopted us, it took us 2 YEARS before we could even touch her - she had been dumped into the rain when her previous so called owners moved house without her and she came through the first flap she could find. I dread to think what her first few months of life had been like. S...

Re: To block the flap or not to block, that is the question.

I know you already have a flap but is Minnie-Moobles (lovely name!!) microchipped? I ask because Denver has a flap that will only let him into the house as it "reads" his internal chip. They are more expensive and you have running costs (batteries) but to me it is worth every penny for a c...
