Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Thanks Crewella. I have my ex stray FIV boy to care for and my other 18 year old girl. I learnt some hard lessons from Tezzy's illness. I wish she had never been on the IV drip but if not then I would never have known. Love her and miss her but got to be strong.

Re: Weak back legs, now front-Sugarpuff the Hufflepuff

Hi Alexandra, My almost 18 year old cat had two teeth out last week and either the anaesthetic or the meds might have reacted with her because she became ataxic walking with her back legs splayed out and then flopping down. I realised about 5 months ago that she was deaf and am wondering if she had ...

Re: Potential conflict with vet

Hi Nellie, My 17 year old cat (almost 18) had to have two teeth removed last week and when she came home she had some sort of weird effect from the anaesthetic. We did bloods AFTER the op and it showed she had kidney failure. She was on a IV drip for two days and nights and I had her pts yesterday. ...

Re: What to do when your animals are all you have?

I hope animals' do live on - selfishly I hope mine are all around me in spirit, or just happy wherever they go. I have seen a human ghost but never an animal ghost. I hope my Tezzy is happy. So up and down again today.

Re: What to do when your animals are all you have?

Hi Sue, So sorry about your loss. It is so freaking difficult isnt it. Not sure Im up for volunteering yet though. It did cross my mind to get another cat last night but the other old girl Ive had for 18 years would not like it so I think maybe best not to. Mental health education needs to be reasse...

Re: What to do when your animals are all you have?

Thankyou Jillyvillyvoo, bobbys girl and Mayday21, Jillyvoovoo, so so fortunate to have these babies, but right now I don't think it has been worth it. The pain and loneliness is right in the pit of my stomach. You all know how it feels. bobbys girl - I hate therapists that make you go over the past ...

What to do when your animals are all you have?

Had my Tezzy pts this morning and I am beferft of course. But the thing is - I was never close to her like I'm close to my other cat. I think my life is so unbalanced and with no security and they were the two constants in my life. Now Tezzy has gone, I feel a great big void. I am depressed anyway a...

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

She is gone - and it was surprisingly easy to do. I didn't want her like that and couldn't wait for it to be done when I got there. I have brought her home with me as I like to know for sure my animals are gone before they are put in the freezer. My little darling I love you so much. Big kisses from...

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Thats good news. What I would give to ber in that situation. Looks like I might have to have Tez pts tomorrow.....so hard isnt it. Went to see her today and she looks perky in the eyes and she tried to stand - bloods are still the same but vet said that would be the case until tomorrow when we have ...

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Please let me know how she is and if she can come home. My girl will be 18 in June but she is young for her age - well up until this anyway. Always racing around and getting into mischief. 12 isn't that old nowadays so I hope she will be ok. I have stress tummy at the moment.

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Hi AndyMac, Does Jet have kidney failure too? When I say "failure" I really mean "not working at full capacity". Tez is staying in tonight and I am terrified she will die without me there. I spent £350 on her teeth and overnight stay on Tuesday this week and now this. I will get ...

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Hi and thanks for your replies. Just had a call from the vet and Tez is a little perkier.....she is still ataxic (they dont know what has caused this), but she did a long wee which is the main thing. She also seeems a bit perkier but isnt out of the woods yet. She is staying in overnight again. My v...

Cost of overnight care.

Just been told if I wanted my cat moved to an all night vet surgery with vet care throughout the night (monitoring) it would cost £500-£600 pounds for a cat on an iv drip. Does that sound about right to you? I am fuming and at the moment am wondering how the heck they justify that price. Fuming.

Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.

Hi all, My 17 year old girl cat was fit and healthy - or seemed to be - until a few days ago when she stopped eating and pus was coming out of her mouth. I took her to the vets and she had two teeth removed within the hour. To save money I didnt have her bloods done - my bad. She came home after a n...

Re: Feeding raw BARF foods.

Hello Cussypat, Oh God where do I start!! My girl has the bloods of a nine year old apparently (she's 17). Shes very active and playful. She was the runt of the litter and when she was a kitten she had diarhea. I controlled that by feeding her Coley (fish), on the advice of a cattery owner (all vets...

Re: Feeding raw BARF foods.

Thanks. :) I've tried her on Natures Menu but I think she has a chicken allergy and all their products contain chicken. Just rang Natural Instinct and the woman I spoke to said the bones are finely ground so feel like grit. This is what I am looking for. There are only three flavours though and two ...

Feeding raw BARF foods.

Totally long story but my 17 year old girl cat needs to eat raw cat food. I have read so much about this diet and when I tried it, it does help to control her bowels. But I need finely ground bones because a common problem with basic ground bones are the bones get stuck in their teeth and gums and m...
