Re: Cheyenne still nervous

Sarah may be onto something, I am sure my ex-feral Pip (also black) learned something from seeing my other cat snuggling in my lap and sleeping with me on the bed. But after she'd settled in I did also force contact from time to time, mainly because I didn't want her to associate being picked up wit...

Re: Lily's Kitchen...?

By dry weight, Lily's Kitchen contains more protein than Nature's Menu. Just going by the % on the pack doesn't tell you much, because the amount of moisture in wet foods varies. I think both Nature's Menu and Lily's Kitchen are good foods, I especially like that Lily's is organic. I buy both (and o...

Re: weight question

Unless the vet is concerned I wouldn't worry. All cats are different and will grow at different rates. Providing he is eating well and growing (which it sounds like he is) I am sure he's fine!

Re: Help !!!

Do they all use the litter tray? Some cats don't like using the same one for both types of 'business' so it might be worth trying two to see if it helps. I can see there's a territorial aspect, but it may be that if one is toileting inappropriately the other is spraying in response, and if you can g...

Re: Help !!!

You say you've tried everything, but without knowing what that encompasses it's hard to know what to suggest. Presumably you've tried Feliway? Have you tried contacting a behaviourist? How many litter trays do you have? How big is your home and do all of the cats have access to outside? Are there pl...

It sounds very much like the sequence of events when Pip has a seizure, fingers crossed in Molly's case it's a one-off and the infection/low potassium can be easily treated to get her back on form soon.

Re: Urgent advice needed for cat who was blinded yesterday

So sorry to hear about your cat, do you know what happened during the operation? My cat Pip suffered nerve damage that affected her eyes and hearing during a particularly traumatic dental a few years ago; when I got her home one pupil was huge and the other was tiny, she looked drunk for weeks. Thin...

Holiday furries

We've just been away for a few days and for the first time my two furry troublemakers were looked after by a cat sitter (usually they go to Mum and Dad but that wasn't an option). I came home to two contented cats and four sides of notes taken over the cat sitter's six visits. A very positive experi...

Re: advise needed stray cat in bad way

I don't know, but I would hope they would treat the cat whatever the cause, a flea allergy can be horribly unpleasant for a cat. Well done for helping this little one, I hope he/she can be captured and restored to full health.

Re: Hyperthyroidism in elderly girl.

Coming late to this...my little lady is on Vidalta, and the first fortnight was really tough, she struggled to eat much and was sick a lot. Over the next few weeks those symptoms slowly subsided and she seemed to get used to the meds. She's had the dose upped a couple of times since and I was really...

It's the same price on Fetch, Ocado's pet shop...they do loads of cat foods, including prescription ones, and at present it looks like they're doing free delivery for a £10 spend.

Re: FIV and fits ?

Not something I've heard of before in an FIV cat...has anything else happened to your puss recently? Injury, dental surgery, other health problems?

I do hope Hal improves, one of my cats has seizures and I know how upsetting it is to see. Gentle fusses to Hal.

Re: Fluffy needs an operation!

You are definitely doing the right thing. Besides the fact she is clearly uncomfortable, left untreated, dental problems can cause all sorts of health issues, including heart and kidney disease. It is always worrying when our furries go under anaesthetic, particularly when they are older and/or not ...

Re: Several weeks in and 'Homes Offered' still showing 0 pos

In fairness, I'm not sure why many people would post on here about wanting to offer a home when this forum is attached to a network of rescues, all you have to do is click on the main Catchat.org logo above to see rows of lovely cats seeking homes. People are much more likely to post looking for reh...

Re: coping with blindness

I adopted a blind cat a while back, he'd just lost one eye and his sight (as a result of cat flu) and it did take him a bit of time to get used to it. A couple of times early on he ran full speed into the wall (getting overexcited about his food), which was quite upsetting to see, but his whiskers g...

What was the program? The YouTube link has been taken down... Re: Peaches hurt

I have to say, that the time I spent 'hassling' her after she came to live with me really paid off yesterday. I've got cats that don't like being picked up, and I usually respect their feelings, but with Peaches being a 'feral' I felt she had no concept of human contact, so I did pick her up now an...
