Re: Acute Kidney Failure
Aww poor Barney:( Today Jimmy slept a little but I can tell he is not feeling himself. Its just so heart breaking feeling so helpless. So far I managed to get his meds in him by mixing them with the lactose free milk. He seems to love the milk but I feel weird giving him it. Managed to get him to ea...

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
I finally got him in about 1am. I have not seen him sleep in 24 hours :\ he is on the back of the sofa fighting his sleepiness. Any idea why? Oh and I mixed his pate with warm water till it was of a soup like thickness and he ate a full tin:)

Re: Acute Kidney Failure

Took Jimmy to the vet about his mouth thinking it was just an ulcer but nope he has a Tooth lesions :( Its really bad and she said if he was younger then she would have it taken out but because of his kidney failure she cant risk it. Re: Acute Kidney Failure
Hi Joanne....my Barney suffers with constipation quite a lot, extremely bad, to the point he cries in pain, ....if you can get some warm water into his food, maybe with a little olive oil for tonight that will help......'Miralax' can be ordered through the internet which really helps Barney, though...

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
Jimmy seems a bit constipated. Any idea on how to help this? Going to take him to the vet on Monday as I think the hacking thing he does is because his mouth could be sore.

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
The hacking thing is confusing me:\ I have been trying to give him hi food without dreamies and he was okay then I gave him a few (I even crushed them up) and he hacked. So weird.

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
update. Jimmy still seems fairly bright but today I was giving him some dreamies like I give him everyday and he like made a weird noise maybe like a hacking noise and scared himself and hid under the table. Then again tonight I gave his food and added a few on top as this usually gets him to eat an...

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
So today Jimmy has been amazing! Spent a lot of time downstairs chilling with us. Also no idea why but we have all noticed how AMAZING his fur is... Even before his kidney disease his fur was scruffy, mattered and he hated being combed. Now it is SO SO silky and smooth! and he is just cleaning himse...

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
I agree with what everyone is saying about the stem cells. Plus I would never trust anything online that a vet did not suggest. A lot of meds etc that you can just buy are not even the real deal.
Really glad though that your cat is much better:)

Thanks guys. He is still very quiet. Hoping in the morning he will be better. Vaccine side effects always make me panic and hesitant to give vaccines to them.

Vaccine side effects?
My cat Ted was given a vaccine 3 weeks ago think it was for flu and other things. Then today he went back for a booster. The first time around he was totally fine. Today he is so quiet, sleeping a lot and refused his favourite biscuits which NEVER happens he is totally food obsessed. Should I worry?...

Re: Acute Kidney Failure
another update
Jimmy still spends a lot of time upstairs away from everyone however he spends a lot less time asleep, comes down to see us a lot more and till keeps adventuring out. His eating is okay, could be better but he has never really been a big eater.

Re: LOST CAT SMALLFIELD/HORLEY
I'm so sorry your little cat is missing still.. My cat went missing for 11 days and turned up on my doorstep just as I thought he was lost forever. Cats don't usually go far , normally in the same block that you live in. My cat had been locked in somewhere, he'd lost lots of weight but came home un...

Re Ipakitine - I have used it for cats with kidney problems in the past and I just added a level measure to all wet meals. Clapton loved fish and chicken - they are high phosphorus, but I decided not to deprive him of his favourite things, so even dusted those in it. I have always assumed that a le...

How is Jimmy? I'm sure the change in times of his meds won't be a problem. I know it's not ideal but at least he got them. Sounds like he is making good progress. Thank you for asking after ours (his name is Chugnut but it's such an odd name - blame my partner - that I often don't tell people!). Ch...

Re: Pregnancy?
Hi! I'm having a wee problem at the minute and I'm hoping to get some answers in time. I'm assuming I won't but I'll try anyway. We've ended up sort of rescuing 5 cats from a dodgy owner from down the round (1 older boy and a mother with an assumed son and 2 kittens that are now 1) and all of them ...

I have 3 cats and 2 litter trays. Jimmy is not fussy and will pee anywhere Erik I have never seen use a litter tray and Ted, well he tends to stick to a certain one.
