Re: Which breed would you recommend?
Just a point, I have found male cats to be more affectionate than female cats (when neutered anyway). I suspect many exceptions to that can be found, however.

Re: My Poor Toothless Lad
Poor old chap. Still, I'm sure I read somewhere that toothless old cats seem to survive quite happily. If he carries on hunting, maybe he will do as my old Honey did to the only mouse she ever killed and squash them flat (Honey was a bit portly)!

How old is he and how big? Norwegian Forest and Maine Coon cats get pretty big quite quickly, so if he is mainly one of those, you will find out fairly soon! He is a handsome chap whatever his origins.

Re: Under siege
Hi Kay. Having a cat mad neighbour is very useful. We have arranged that if either of us dies, the cats go to the survivor. Seems much the best arrangement as they will be with someone they know and with cats they know. Today Tay and Toto rather chanced their paws when I cam home today, though. They...

Re: Under siege
They have a cat flap Lilith and yes, they were round this morning demanding breakfast! I think Tay and Toto would like your neighbor fjm, though I doubt if a cat bowl big enough to stop them emptying it in 5min has ever been made! Booktigger, Tay has me well trained to carry him to his own front doo...

Under siege
I'm on feeding duty for the cats next door. No chance of my forgetting as my house has been under siege by the pair of them since 2.00pm, Toto at the back and Tay at the front. Feeding time is 5:15pm if I can hold out that long.

Re: Pancreatitis Special Diet?
I have not had to give Tilly a special diet to keep Pancreatitis at bay. With Tilly, build up of fur balls seems to be the trigger, so regular grooming to remove loose fur is more important than diet. That Tilly gets Thrive and Catagan chicken with various things or fish has more to do with what was...

Re: Post Acute Pancreatitis Problems
My Tilly having had several bouts of Pancreatitis, I can sympathize with your worries. I am a bit surprised your vet let Goobbee home before she was eating properly. When my Tilly had her last bout of Pancreatitis a year and a half ago, she was kept in until she was eating (she had to be fed via tub...

Re: At the end of my patients
When Tilly is being a bit of a Madam and refusing to eat her dinner (happens every now and then), I have had success with putting one of the 50g Gourmet Mon petit sachets on top. She then eats that and continues on down into the food she refused to eat 10 seconds earlier.

Re: 3YO Male Cat has Cancer
I wish I could give you some hopeful advice, but my experience of cancer in cats has been uniformly bad. My 5yr old Maine Coon Badger was diagnosed with cancer of his spleen 4.5 years ago, having, like your lad, been thoroughly examined by his vet about a month earlier. He showed no symptoms other t...

Re: Drastic behavior change
I agree with the others, this needs a full investigation. An exterior examination cannot always reveal what is wrong. My Maine Coon Badger showed no symptoms that could be seen from outside even the month before he died of cancer. (Badger didn't show any personality change, either, he remained the b...

Both Hills and Royal Canin do a hypoallergenic cat food which might help. Not sure though whether they are not so bland that most cats would never eat them.

Does Molly like fish? Thrive do an all fish complete food (which Tilly loves). I think duck is a bit fatty, so probably not good for the calorie count.

Tilly spent the evening upstairs, sleeping above the radiator pipes. She wasn't too perturbed by the fusillade of bangs from out the back, but showed no inclination to go out after they started! Better than my old girl Sally, who spent most Fireworks nights in the bottom of the wardrobe. Misty used ...

Tilly is very annoyed with me as I have shut her in already. Not risking there being any chance she is out when fireworks start going off, but she does not appreciate that and won't until the bangs start.
