Re: Is my kitten fading?

I can't help I'm afraid but I couldn't just scroll on. A couple of days without eating or drinking is serious especially in such a young kitten, keep up the fluids and feeding and as for meds and diagnosis, that is for the vet. Keep in close contact with the vet. Kittens are normally weaned by the m...

Grumpiness can be a symptom of HT, so is vomiting.

If she is not taking the Vidalta any more is she having anything else or is her HT now uncontrolled?

Re: very worried about my girls eyes

This is the trouble with the internet, everyone's an expert even though they have no medical training, have not seen your cat and don't have access to all her test and exam results. Potassium isn't needed if it isn't low. I'm sure your vet has reasons for giving the treatments given. If you're unsur...

I would agree with Ruth, go back to basics introductions, maybe if you can hang on that long after kittens are gone and mum spayed. I have no experience of cat mothers and limited of multi-cat households, but there are many many examples of sibling cats who suddenly and violently fall out. Often it'...

Re: Feline herpesvirus?

My boy was a retired Ragdoll stud, as I understand it it's very common in breeding circles and often shows up in young kittens. Mine would sometimes cough and had runny eyes and occasionally the sneezes. We had him checked out many times over the years and all vets ever said was his upper and lower ...

Re: Help!!! 14 week old kitten scared of tumble dryer

Slightly strange response coming but here goes. First off, you should really have one tray each plus one for the number of cats, so 3 cats 4 trays in total. Second, I think I'd be happy if my cats were scared of the washing machine and tumble dryer. I have known one of each be fatal to cats and I am...

My angel boy Henry too, he was 14 and in his prime, struck down with this horror 2 years ago. I knew nothing of it until he came in one morning looking like he might have had an argument with a car, within 10 minutes we were at the surgery. To top it all the vet was so insensitive and I was in such ...

Be especially careful not to overdose beef liver as that is especially high in vitamin A and vitamin A is toxic in high doses for long periods.

Could be as simple as if she hasn't eaten as much because of the heat so the drug irritates her empty stomach, but if she is not herself a call to the vets is the right thing to do.

Not sure I understand the teaspoon, I thought that was a teaspoon of the new wet added to the old wet and gradually increase the proportion? I have never had to do this so can't help with that. Mine have always eaten it or not eaten it and I've never had to introduce anything gradually. Well, except...

Re: Introducing new wet food

Well, I know it's easier said than done, but perhaps rubbish food isn't really that bad. It does meet minimum standards, even if those standards are low, and it's wet which is positive. It may not be what you want for them but at this stage of triaditis surely something familiar that you know will b...

Any time things are not going well, go back to the previous step. This process can take months but it's time well invested. I'm told boys are much easier, girls apparently are much more reluctant to accept new arrivals, not that that's any help even if it is true. Keep at it but any time your girl i...

Depends what it is about beef, it's a strong meat whereas veal is lighter than for example lamb and much more on a par with pork. If it's the species that is the issue then veal will be the same, if it's the richness of the meat then it should be fine. I do understand your reluctance to try though. ...

I did think the same Ruth but more to do with dogs running around in places livestock and more so deer have been. Ticks definitely can and do get on cats but now you mention it my grandparents who lived in the south of France were forever pulling ticks out of the dog, like several a day in the main tick season, but never the cats. Perhaps it depends on the tick species?

AHA yes that would explain it! My cat loves the stuff but I can't stroke her when she has it, we have negotiated that she can give my finger little love bites though. Interesting one. I think I would be tempted to observe more, but when he is alone for the safety of the other kittens and you. Could you take him into another room on his own and observe what happens when he is alone with one or more stuffed toys? If you can do this it might be a good idea to film t...

Ours was also deaf and blind, and got very thin too. The worst was the standing at the foot of the stairs and yowling. But she was a happy little soul and if she hadn't been we would have done something to help her along.

Hoping for someone to come along with suggestions for you though.

It's quite common for cats to associate a litter tray with pain and avoid it, but his choice of alternative and the fact he does it when you're there sounds like a protest for being kept indoors to me!

I've just been reading this, several small meals are also supposed to help stabilise urine pH through the day as well apparently.

All depends how advanced his kidney disease is, his age and your outlook. If he is in early stage and middle aged, I would give whatever treats you have always given that he loves. If his CRF is more advanced and/or his age younger, he could benefit from closer management but depending on your own f...

Neutered cats can still spray but anyway a cat's anatomy is that if he doesn't crouch the pee will go out horizontal. I'm sorry to say it's very likely your yelling and making a scene has caused him a load of stress around using the tray and is making him confused and fearful and making it worse. Yo...
