Re: Cat hates my new rug!
Mrs Kane, if it makes you feel better I use ceramic bowls for all my gang - mostly heavy pottery with bright glazes. I do get the odd chip, but mostly they last very well and are healthier (I once had a cat prone to feline acne, where they recommend not to use plastic bowls, and I've never changed ...

Re: Memes that sum up owning a cat
So I did the ironing today as part of my Saturday chores. Sofi was on that pile like a shot while I took a shower.

Re: To get or not to get? what to dooo... :(
I think it's really important to know if you're ready for a cat, even if you've owned one in the past. I spent a lot of time deciding if I wanted one and researching if it was a good idea. I think I made a good choice but it doesn't come without its problems. At the moment I think you're looking for...

Re: Cat hates my new rug!
If you like the rug I'd keep it. As mentioned, cats can be truly fussy things. I recently bought mine a new food bowl because she'd bashed hers to bits from wanting food when I was out and I was worried her was going to cut herself (it was ceramic, an enormously stupid thing to buy on my part but it...

Re: Elderly lady cat meows very loudly at night!
Perhaps a silly question seeing as Holly seems fine apart from her slight dottiness, but is her litter tray very high at all? I know with my Sofi sometimes she believes she's in the litter tray from squatting outside it, but sometimes she is not and ends up piddling everywhere (she has her spots, po...

Re: Elderly lady cat meows very loudly at night!
As sad as it is I am prone to thinking Holly probably has dementia, as mentioned by Meriad. Tbh for this there is no viable solution. She's think night is day, day is night and any change is well beyond her comprehension. If your OH allows I'd seriously recommend leaving the lounge lights on, and po...

Lilith, I was never really a TV person once I started working because everything I really wanted to see I was always working through. (That was the joy of being a manager, your free time was seriously limited, just forget about being home for prime time) And I've always hated Daytime TV with the exc...

Re: A lost cat poem
Thanks Bobbys Girl and Lilith! I'm just so happy she's better! She's using every opportunity to curl up on my lap nowadays and it makes me think that I only had half a cat before compared to now. She's also WAY more active and happy during the day. I'm not sure whether the drooling thing is down to ...

Re: A lost cat poem
She's much better! Thankyou Lilith :) She was behaving oddly for a while and then started pulling chunks of fur out of her neck. I was terrified she had a really big problem. (google searching didn't help my fear. I was convinced she had cancer for about 4 hours) We took her to the vet and it turned...

Hahaha! That video fits my Sofi to a tee! Every time I need to do something on the computer that's important she manages to get her bum in the way! Although the jumping in the bin thing reminded me of this video my sister sent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYnvrzKCssE" onclick="window.o...

Tbh as much as I know you'd hate to Mrs Mac, I'd get friendly with them. You can't change their ways but perhaps you can make Rosie important to them. I'm guessing she's sort of important to them right now, to the extent that if she didn't come over you'd receive a phone call saying "is she oka...

I would also vacuum all the fabrics that you can't wash: IE, sofa and all cushions and then throwing the excess out immediately in an outside bin or pouring either salt or hot water over it. My sister had this problem in July when her idiot of a roommate put their long haired cat (Luna) in the garde...

Re: Neighbours continue to let my cat into their house!
I understand your dilemma Mrs Mac. For years my Granny's cat used to go around and visit people in the block they lived in and my Gran was always terrified that something had happened to her, even though it was just in the building. (Annoyingly, as a kitten Fritz learnt how to open the front door an...

Re: Cat=Human names
When I used to work at the Co-op (seems like eons ago now) I used to get a regular customer whose cat would walk with him to the shop. She was quite out of the ordinary, very much like a dog. She used to sit outside and wait for him while he got his daily paper and other bits and bobs. My colleagues...

Thanks guys, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has had a 180º cat. Tbh it does hurt an awful lot. I love Sofi so much and now she's acting like this it makes me feel really quite sad and depressed. She's never been perfect and I can forgive that she never likes being picked up and cudd...

Helping with cat training/just getting along
Hey guys, I haven't been around a lot. And I'm sorry about that. With work picking up so drastically I haven't had a lot of time to be here and still make time for Sofi. However I would really like your help: Lately, Sofi has become... difficult. She doesn't like to be stroked anymore. Even attempti...

Hey Ishy, I'm glad you're moving along at the adoption end. It makes me happy to know a kitten is going to such a good home :D On a not so nice subject: I want to say something that may call me a downer on some level. But if you come back and say something like this and I don't say it now I don't th...

Re: Occasional toileting around the house
Has your cat shown any aversion to your baby? IE confining themselves to certain rooms when the baby is near or urinating near or on where the baby sleeps? Cats are very easily upset by change and could be upset by this new arrival to the household. I'm surprised you haven't had problems previously ...

I'm still not sure if Sofi loves us, but she does come and sleep with us at night and paws at the bathroom door when I'm in there. She generally also wants to be in the same room we are. I'm not sure if this is love or just keeping an eye on us

I know how you feel Ishy. I wanted a cat for years and my parents never approved of them. After I moved to Spain, never before owning a pet whilst living independently, I was determined to do it right! (Which is why I'm here coincidentally) So I did months and months of research trying to find the r...

anyone else found little and often works better? The little and often technique is working quite well for me atm. I may be feeling optimistic but I think she's looking slightly thinner. She's definitely been more active in the past 2 days. A lot more like the cheeky cat I remember in the Spring. I ...
