Re: Anyone have any experience with Destolit?

Thanks Carol.

He still isn't right. If he doesn't perk up, I am taking him in again. Not sure what else they can do at this stage though. He is still eating but seems uncomfortable.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Destolit?

I could be wrong, but I thought he said it was 10 now. He has asked me several times if I am finding spat out pills around. He does seem a bit brighter, but he has never been like a normal cat (whatever that is)

Re: Possible liver problems

That's interesting Desley. We only upped Laz's Felimazole dose form 3.75mg to 5mg a day 3 weeks ago. I wonder if his liver enzymes are taking a while to go back down,

Re: Anyone have any experience with Destolit?

The problem with Laz is that he is very particular. He won't touch any type of supermeat/pate food (except once in a blue moon, a Felix supermeat pouch, but only tuna flavour) Whiskas, any kind of real meat etc. At one time I had him on a mix of Felix Senior and AGAIL senior + his dry. He recently d...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Destolit?

Thanks everyone. Thanks for the link Helen :) I remember reading that obesity food can be good for liver issues re being low fat. Laz won;t touch any renal dry, including RC so unlikely he will eat the hepatic version. Anyway, he slept for a few hours and seems brighter now. Not sure if it is the Me...

Re: Cats, Slugs and Salt

We have a MAJOR slug and snail problem. Recently I have started collecting them up in either a cardboard container or a plastic one lined with newspaper (I lift the paper out at their new home and take the plastic container home) - either way, I line it with cabbage leaves and deposit in a derelect ...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Destolit?

Thanks Helen, I will give it a try but he will only eat fish flavour foods - apart rom the Sanabelle Urinary - which reeks of something - not sure what though :) I saw a site that recommends low cholesterol diet as apparently, most stones are cholesterol (although there has been no diagnosis yet) on...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Distolit?

Thanks Helen :), he is sound asleep now :). He had been lying down hunched up and not sleeping properly. Apparently Destolit dissolves gallstones, so I doubt the drug could have had any effect in a couple of hours?

Re: Anyone have any experience with Demerol?

It is just as well that I don't have to get up early for work! :) - I don;t know how others cope.

PS - I got the drug name wrong. It is Destolit. No idea where I got the Demerol name from :) - off to read up on it.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Demerol?

He has finally perked up a bit in the last 1/2 hour :)

Surely Demerol can't work that quickly? - maybe it is just a coincidence, but just happy that he is feeling a bit better. I was up with him until after 2am this morning as he wasn't comfortable at all.

Re: Anyone have any experience with Demerol?

Thanks Sarah :) I can only assume they are quite elevated (he said there were 2 enzymes affected) to suggest meds and tests? I seem to remember last year they mentioned one of the values being high, which suggested an issue with the gall bladder, but it was quite usual in older cats. This time he me...

Re: Anyone have any experience with Demerol?

He didn't give me any numbers, but he said that unless it improves in a month, the scn and/or biospy will be needed to determine if it is a localised issue or if the whole liver is affected. Laz is really down. He did say it is quite commomn for hyper-t cats to have liver issues.

Anyone have any experience with Destolit?

Laz had had still been acting odd despite altering his Felimazole dose. I took him to the vet today. They said his heart rate had gone down to 160 (from 180) so he was confident Laz was on the right dose. I said that I was concerned his pupil were dilated. The vet checked and said his retinas aren't...

I hadn't thought about it before, but as it's only for flea treatment....

If anyone questioned the date, I would tell them you are a rescue and someone donated some so you held onto it until needed :)

Re: Cat Excessively Drinking - Vet ruled out all but behavio

My cat Lazarus started drinking & peeing excessively a couple of years ago. He was tested for kidney disease. His readings were normal but my vet said it was early stages and started him on Fortekor. Just before xmas, I changed vets. My new vet ran a mini blood profile for the kidneys and the re...

It sounds like your new vet is more knowledgeable (and caring!) than the previous one. One of my cats survived 5 years from diagnosis, so there is always hope :)

Re: I could really use help and advice on further dealing w

Hi - I remember your posts on the old forum. Although I have a lot of experience in dealing with cats with CRF, I never took too much notice of readings. I can't really advise on anaemia, one of my cats was given B12 with something else in the later stages. Has your vet heard of a new CRF drug calle...

Poor cat. I hope he's on the mend. If you are still having problems getting him to eat regular food, there are a few dry foods that are similar to treats. Royal Canin 12+ even has a soft-centre like dreamies! :) http://www.vetuk.co.uk/royal-canin-cat-food-royal-canin-feline-food-c-62_1013_326/royal-...

I don't have any experience with this, but they have it on eBay (about £12 for 50 tablets)- sold as an AB for fish. I wonder if it might be handy for rescues, especially ones overseas that struggle to get supplies. What is the cat dose?

Have you tried your local CP, RSPCA etc?

Also it would help to add the area in the title of your post.

Re: How to keep kitty off the hot stove

I think those things only work if you have an electric cooker with rings - they are raised so they don't heat up. Pans of cold water or upturned plates are probably fine. We have an induction hob. It stays hot, but not a searing heat (as in taking the skin off  ) that you get with other electri...

My Laz has been spooked over the last couple of days. He has calmed down now the wind has died down. Poor thing is so fragile that if he goes outside, the wind blows him off his feet.
