Re: Help

That's what I thought too, Crewella, when I wrote my original reply. But it does not actually say that on the tin. It only refers to soft furnishings needing to be dry before humans handle them (and not using on human bedding). Certainly best to get Vet advice before use.

Re: Help

I understand your anxiety. I felt the same about taking my old cat Misty to the vet the first time to get his injections done (he was 9 when I got him, very nervous and took a long time to settle in).

Re: Help

Since last reply have had a look on a new tin of Indorex. Only requires cat not to be in room whilst applying spray, but you must make sure the room is well ventilated whilst applying. If in doubt, I would still recommend asking the Vets or (as Kay recommends) a Vet nurse. I expect they will be able...

Re: Help

There ought to be instructions on the tin about how long you need to leave a room before letting her into it - these are the instructions to go by. Also, ask your vets, they will probably know.

Re: New cat owner, feeling a bit anxious

Hi and welcome to the ranks of worried cat owners, being worried about them goes with cat ownership! Well done for taking on an old black cat, I'm sure you won't regret it. Whilst it is a few years since I had an old cat (my current one is 6) from what I can recall, sleeping from 7:30 to 5:30 is no ...

Welcome back and congratulations on the new baby. Sorry to hear about Elsa. I too lost my 5yr old cat Badger last year (due to cancer). Its pretty devastating when they die so young.

Re: Cats fear of storms.

Reminds me of my old Misty, who disappeared into his igloo whenever thunderstorms were around! It would take him some time to get over the fright (same as fireworks). Regarding Dave's behavior this morning, have the thunderstorms gone completely? If they are still growling away in the distance, he c...

Re: grooming advice

I use a Mikki Matt Breaker on Tilly. It works OK as long as you catch the knots when they are small. For general grooming I use one of their slicker brushes. Don't know how they compare to other manufacturer's items as the local pet shop only sells this type. I have also tried a spray type shampoo t...

Re: Strorm Katie

It takes very bad weather to persuade Tilly to use the litter tray (like 2ft of snow, when the cat flap won't open). She made up for yesterday today, outside playing in the sun with next doors pair until the rain came.

Strorm Katie

So how have your cats coped with the return of the wild weather? Tilly nipped out first thing to do her business and was back in pretty quick. Looked out of the open kitchen window for about 5 min mid morning, but declined to go out and went back to bed. She hates high winds (as did Badger). Not wit...

Joe
I wish there was something I could do to assist. I have no knowledge of what is affecting Milla or advice to give.
I know only to well what you are going through as I also could do nothing when Badger died last year.

Crewella - great photo of Daz and Paddington, where they "helping" with the filing? Joe- sadly I now only own one Maine Coon (Tilly) as Badger died of cancer last year - I still miss him. They cost £700 for the pair of them as 13 week old kittens 6 years ago and I would not part with Tilly...

Re: Home for a rescue / retired adult Maine Coon

As a Maine Coon owner, I can't imagine anyone giving one away! However, if I remember correctly from the research I did when I bought Badger and Tilly, Maine Coon breeders do sometimes have retired Queens (c 5yrs old, I think) for sale, so try contacting Maine Coon breeders to see what is available.

Glad to hear the spaying went well. I'm trying to remember how long it was before Tilly was back on her feet after being spayed, pretty sure it was more than 4 hours. Great photo of Kala.

Re: Bookends!

My contribution - at least Badger and Tilly match in color, even though there wasn't any room left between them! They were 9 months old at the time and already nearly a yard long. Six months later they could each fill the landing without help from the other.

Re: Do your cats love watching TV? Kala sure does

No TV, so Tilly doesn't get the chance to watch it. However, when she and Badger were kittens, they loved to watch a DVD of "Walking with Dinosaurs" - seems like dinosaurs appeal to the young of other species than humans!

The short answer is yes, cats do eat hamsters. I know this because a friend of mines cat caught and killed his neighbors hamster when the latter escaped from its cage.

I agree with both Meriad and Marla. Tilly sometimes behaves like this when she gets a hairball (in spite of my dosing her with anti- hairball treats) and gets carted of to the vet whenever it happens.

Since her illness at the beginning of the year, I've been giving Tilly Thrive Chicken breast or Chicken breast and liver and sometimes Ocean Fish. She adores it! Hope things have settled down between Pugsley and his sister. A bit of spatting in this situation is not unusual, or so I was told. I'm sitting here tickling Tilly's tummy, but its only something I do when she wants me to!
One of our local garden centers had two cats which were liable to bite anyone who tried to stroke them. There were large signs up warning all customers!
