Hi Grace, sorry to read about Bertie’s issues. Agree with Desley & Lilith bloods a good idea. And hi ladies. Haven’t forgotten about the great folks here just that time gets away. Thankfully no issues with the Famous Five from Oz other than Snow & Pebbles still dislike ea other. Keep us post...

Re: 1 year old cat mystery ailment
Hi & welcome to this great forum. So sorry to read about your little fur babe. I’ve become addicted to a vet show here “Vet on the Hill”. Scott’s an Aussie based in the UK & has 3 practices with the main one in Richmond. I love it as he explains everything so well & so do the specialists...

Re: Advocate and bad reaction
Hi while I’ve not experienced adverse effects of flea treatment & I’ve not used Advocate, I know others who’ve used it & they’ve experienced reactions including loss of fur where treatment was put on. Hope Dave’s feeling a lot better. Flea infestations are horrendous.

I’ve been giving the Famous Five from Oz the beef, chicken & salmon as well as chicken & turkey. So far so good. Haven’t tried the Sensation Sauces. They get fresh meat & chicken necks at the weekend.

I’ve left mine for a couple of days. Left extra litter trays, gave them a good dinner the night before, gave them breakfast as well as leaving extra dry food & water. Some people I know leave a radio on for company but as we have electrical storms I’m hesitant to do that.

Re: 3mo Kitten - Grade 4 Heart Murmur
Mayday had a murmur don’t know what grade & I had her for 21+ years. She used to cough a bit. Harper also had a murmur as a kitten but as she got older it stopped. You must do what you feel is best for the kitten & you. Sounds +ve if the breeder’s going to keep her as well as retiring the qu...

Hi are you able to organise a payment plan with your vet. We have an organisation here Vetcare I think it’s like a credit plan but interest rates less than credit cards. Good news about Tiger & yes vets do cost but we do it for our fur babes. Vivian

Re: Tragic death of my cat
I just read Kay’s post & wise words to you & thought of a saying a prominent radio announcer says of someone dying .. “No one ever dies unless the memories fade”. I think this can be applied to our fur babes. I’ll never forget my avatar, Mayday. I sometimes think of the verse in Annie Lennox...

Poor boy .. they get themselves into situations. Thankfully the vet found out what it was. I worry about smallish, stringy toys such as mice which can be chased & tossed around. Keep us updated on your fur babe. Vivian

She certainly had a good fuss. Re the platforms, I’ll let others with more experience but cats are the greatest escape artists. Maybe worth watching. You have a lovely garden for them. Is that Hendrix on the rhs? Vivian

Re: Cat vomited this morning and still not eating!!
Hi just after I got Bentley he didn’t come for his dinner. Very unusual. That afternoon I noticed his 3rd eye was up but thought he’d been asleep. I thought he’d escaped & panicked. Found him under my bed looking dismal. Took his temp & it was high. Put him in carrier with ice block wrapped ...

Hi there thanks for caring for this little cat. I too live in a hot climate. Agree with Ruth’s comments. I’ve posted about Cat Netting - is an outside enclosed area possible...just a thought. This would keep the cat & birds safe. Vivian

Re: Tails of the radioactive cat (or Mouse.) Radio-iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism
Hi Mollycat no personality change. Mayday was a Tortie but not naughty unlike the Tuxedo terror, Harper, who I’m sure thinks her name is “Naughty Girl” And Mayday had the softest fur. Miss her to this very day. She definitely left paw prints on my heart. How’s Molly going?

Cat Netting
Hi know a few folks have enclosed areas for their furbabes. Having a 3mx2.4m pergola enclosed with cat netting with a cat flap in my security screen door with a zipper opener/closer. And it’s snake proof-a concern of mine. This gives the Famous Five extra space. Looked at various options to enclose ...

Hi Chloe what a worry. Hope you get the cat flap sorted. In the meantime can you keep your fur babe inside. Strange that other cats can get in if it’s a chip reader. Don’t know anything about them. Can Cat Mate send someone to investigate? Keep us posted. Vivian

Hi Folks been a while since I’ve posted but I’ve not forgotten the lovely folks here. Been catching up on the hyperthyroidism & strange appetite posts. Glad Molly’s home. My Elsa had radio iodine treatment & was at the clinic for 3 weeks. She too was stressed on the way home .. panting. As f...

Hi Desley sounds Chanel’s coming along heaps & bounds. Maybe she know she’s has her furever home. You’ve had snow & up North Qld, Townsville, floods - one in a 500-yr event our premier’s calling it. Alas while the farmers out west needed rain after 4yrs drought they now are suffering stock l...

Re: New landlord doesn't allow pets -- can they force me to get rid of my cat?!
Hi the rescue organisation I’ve an involvement with asks for a landlord’s written agreement that cats are allowed. Unsure if the letting agency can dictate over the landlord. And of course if the holding is sold to anew landlord this may override any previous agreements. Think Lilith’s advice on con...

If considering a Maine Coon check gene lines, medical history as apparently they can have heart defects resulting in disastrous consequences when the cat is still quite young.

Well done Georgie. I think they’re very intuitive. For the past 2 weeks Snow has been a bit “motherly” to me. Seems as though she knows I’m feeling down & is trying to reassure me. Usually it’s TC who picks up on my moods perhaps he doesn’t understand while Snow being older perhaps does. Then Be...
