Re: Dave has had biopsy.

Hi Grace, Sorry to hear Dave has had to have a biopsy and crossed fingers that the results are good. It always seems an eternity to wait for results, but they often come through quite quickly these days...I only had to wait a couple of days for most of Daisy's bloods. Sending my best and Daisy sends...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Thanks Lileth, your message is also a great help and it gives me some reassurance that I am doing the right thing. I find it reassuring that you too would not opt for surgery - the reasons you mention are the same that I have thought of. I just have to be strong - for her, for me and everyone around...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi Ruth, Thank you so much for your message - I have found it a massive comfort. It is massively hard to accept, even though if I am honest with myself, I expected this conclusion when we first had the problem. Sometimes you just don't want to listen to your gut instinct - we are all humans after al...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi All, Well I just heard from the vets and its not good news. The results for the pancreas are fine and the kidney disease is very minimal, so this all means that it must be being caused by a tumour. The options are: 1. Put her to sleep. 2. Surgery to take a biopsy to give a confirmed diagnosis. Wh...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi All, A little bit worried this morning as despite having the regular cerenia last night, she was a little sick this morning. Only a very small amount of clear liquid with a tiny bit of food....I am worried because controlling the symptoms is a big part of this and I'm worried the cerenia has now ...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi Vivian, She is fine in herself - the vomiting has been the only problem. She is eating, drinking and seems normal and happy. She was being her normal 'naughty tortie' self last night scratching and climbing in the blinds. She is currently asleep - buried under a duvet cover - she loves to wrap he...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi Lileth and All, Sorry for not updating on Daisy sooner. So, I got some of Daisy's blood results late yesterday. The vet said her blood showed very early stages of kidney disease, but urine was normal, so not too worrying. Her electrolytes, absorption levels and glucose were all fine. Thyroid fine...

Re: When to go to the vet advice...

Hello Lanie, I have been in a similar situation recently with my cat, Daisy. Although her symptoms are different, I have had to play around with her food for different reasons. All the suggestions others have made above are good. I would also suggest trying to tempt her with something different or m...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hello All, Well talk about an emotional rollercoaster! Daisy's anti sickness injection wore off about 11am this morning and I came home from work at 415pm and she had not been sick. The vet gave me cerenia antisickness tabs for her to take from today - 1/2 tablet per day. I'm assuming these only wor...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Thanks AlanC My persistent googling continues and this time offered me hope, as I stumbled upon a page about pancreatitis which explains her symptoms perfectly. Yes, it can still be very serious and hard to treat, but is far better than the other option. I'm grabbing at any hope I can currently. My ...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hello All, Well today has been beyond difficult to say the least. Daisy went in for her procedures and currently things don't look good. I really struggle to absorb everything the vet says but the main point is that the ultrasound showed up some inflammation inside in the pancreatic area - this coul...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hello All, I have been reading your comments and they are all a great comfort :) Well today's update is as follows..... Firstly, Daisy and I got a good night's sleep...I can always rest when she has had the anti sickness injection. I was dreading coming home as the injection would have worn off abou...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hello All, Thought I would give you an update after my visit to the vets today. I had a good chat with the vet and he suggested that we carry out some more tests. He said this has been going on for over two months now and something needs to be done. So on Wednesday, she is going to be put under for ...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Again thanks everyone for replying! Everyone makes me feel so welcome and supported, which is just what I need at the moment. I have spent much of the day crying :( Since I posted this morning, we have had more sick and we are now up to 9 times since 0630 yesterday morning. I had a plan to make an a...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Thanks Kay and Ruth B, It is great to get some others thoughts and perspectives on this. We have read an article about changing the food around and this is something we may have to seriously consider, even if it goes against what the vet is saying. I hit the point a long time ago where I am prepared...

Re: Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi Ruthb, Thanks so much for your reply. In answer to your questions, Regarding drinking, she typically drinks a lot - That is why initially I thought she could have kidney disease, but this has been ruled out. She is an indoor cat, so I can monitor her litter tray and throughout all bouts of sickne...

Re: Very sick kitty

Hi Sarah,
I can see your post is over a year old now, but I am interested to learn whether you were able to find a resolution to the problem your cat had, as I am going through a very similar experience as you with my cat now and am also at breaking point!
Many Thanks
Victoria

Persistent Vomiting...Support & Advice needed!

Hi All, I am new to the forum and have joined in order to seek support for a problem that is ongoing with my cat and becoming incredibly distressing for me. We rehomed an 11 year old female cat from a rescue centre at the end of April. During the first couple of months, she vomited a few times, whic...
