Re: Dinner is served milady

Sometimes things work out for the best, but in ways we didn't quite expect, whether you decided to keep her or not, she may have help heal you so in time you can decide whether to take in another cat or not with out the grief of the loss rearing it's head, just happy memories. One thing I did want ...

Re: Dinner is served milady

Hi Issie well done for opening your home to this little Siamese. Pebbles’s is the first oriental I’ve had - & shes’s Xd with something else but has the oriental traits, talkative & follows me everywhere. Now does this little girl have a name? If her elderly ‘mother’s’ had a fall doubt if sh...

Re: Dinner is served milady

Wow. Well, boiled chicken and fish isn't a very good diet for a cat. Fish is a great source of protein but too much fish in the diet risks thiamine deficiency. Only boiled chicken, I'm guessing this is prime breast meat, risks taurine deficiency. Lack of organ and bone meal is poor in calcium and m...

Dinner is served milady

Okay, here's the thing. After losing my cats, we swore no more pets, time for ourselves blah blah. But oh dearie me, a foster home was desperately needed for a beautiful chocolate point Siamese, and yes, we caved. So, along with a rather slim, somewhat sad looking feline came a lovely note from her ...

Re: Saying goodbye

Lara, an old saying comes to mind "When we take on a pet's life, we also take on their death" and although we all accept this, it's extremely painful when the time comes to let them go. I have lost and grieved for many pets of all shapes and sizes over a lifetime, including 3 cats in the l...

Dear 'Goose', I read your post with sorrow and wondered how to respond to your sad loss. But then I read FJM's warm and understanding reply and felt I couldn't add to that. I am so sorry. I went through the same experience with my husband when we lost Armand and young Cody within 4 weeks to the day ...

Re: Indoor/Outdoor Kitty and Day Lily Plants/Toxic Plants

My neighbor recently allowed us to let his cat come stay with us whenever he wants to... which he does now, a LOT. While this kitty has been a part of our lives for 10+ years - he has not spent as much time in our yard as he has this Spring/Summer. My big concern is toxic plants. We have day lilies...

Re: Night time terrors: 1 year on

I'm so sorry to hear a member of your family has been ill. I hope all is well now and life has returned to normal. I have always followed your posts and remember your utter despair when losing dear Badger so early in his life, yet you offered me such generous support on the loss of 3 cats in 3 years...

Thank you Booktigger, you are kind. The house feels empty and our hearts are breaking but no more pets. I sincerely hope all is well with you.

Oh Honey, my heart breaks for you and your beautiful kitty. I was only thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you and your darling girl were faring. I have no words to ease your dreadful grief but know, like others here, I will be thinking of you and much loved Onion.

Re: Night time terrors: Goodbye dear Gandhi:update

Losing Gandhi: A quick update: My beloved Gandhi had a large tumour blocking his bowel which resulted in waste matter building up and hardening like limescale in a pipe all the way up his digestive system. As you can imagine, this caused painful inflammation and stretching of the bowel and a huge am...

Re: Night time terrors: 3 years on Goodbye Gandhi

Forgive me for tagging on to my initial post but I feel it's appropriate. When I originally posted the somewhat profound question of 'what's it all about?' my initial thoughts were you might think I had been at the gin and ignore me. But to my surprise and delight it turned into the most intelligent...

Re: Cat of the Baskervilles..not!

I remember reading about one siting of a black panther, complete with normal blurry photo of black cat under tree at a distance. A lot of people were saying it was one of the more convincing ones, there was the tree for scale and the proportion of head to body size appeared right. Then the postman ...

Re: Cat of the Baskervilles..not!

Way to go Badger, bet he had a great time ;) . Here's a puzzle. Since moving to this house, I have noticed some really big cats taking shortcuts through the sloping gardens of the Victorian villas across the road. There's one magnificent stripy who I swear could pass for a tiger cub if it lay in the...

You are quite right of course Marla, but oh sometimes when I hear these stories I just want to crush a grape! In the case of my son's ex..it didn't really matter if I 'interfered', never a drop of flea treatment (or detergent) entered her house. We eventually managed to convince her to have the cats...

Re: Other pet owners and Fleas

This guy must have a real bad infestation for fleas to be on him in the first place. Fleas don't like biting people and will always choose a cat or dog if there's room, hence owners of a cat with a normal amount of fleas under control but not completely free shouldn't even know they're there. Probl...

OK..so I am walking down the large shared drying green to dispose of cardboard when a new neighbour came flapping out towards me. Oh Lilith, your mention of snakes gave me the heebies. I was dreaming about a big yellow, soft bellied boa constrictor last night, soft bellied until it swallowed me whole..aarrgghh! Re: Cat will starve but will not eat cat food

Will he eat eggs? Especially egg yolk - I used to mix it with minced beef, but he might prefer it with chicken. And raw chicken wings could provide the necessary calcium while you are finding a food he will eat - cooked bones are dangerous, but raw, soft wing bones are safer. The story of a cat wea...

Hi Nicky - sorry to read about Hendrick. I also suffered the same loss with Mia in August. I had only had her 2 months after losing Jet to cancer in April.
