Re: Newcomer
Hello and welcome to Cat Chat! Socks and Snowy sound delightful - I have a black tuxedo ex-feral male called Mr Socks who makes all those same weird talky noises! He even mutters and whines in his sleep! I hope too that Snowy turns up. I'm waiting for news of one of mine who has been sighted near wh...

Oh Joe! What a gorgeous little girl Mila is, and already adept at chopsticks, by the look of it! I don't think there is any advantage of her going through 1 heat (this is pretty old science here) but there won't be a lot of harm either and cats can be fertile from as early as 4-5 months, so it might...

Re: Cattery Complaint
I think it's really disappointing that you want to take a 'legal route' on this. Services such as a cattery provide are not the same as a receiving a bill for goods. Can you send the service back? No. The cattery have cared for your 6 cats for a period and are entitled to payment upon collection. Th...

What wonderful news! Do update us when you get him back - we would be really interested to know how quickly he integrates. I would agree very strongly to keep him in for at least 3-4 weeks - as if he was a new cat. You may find it easier to put him in a bonding room for a day or so, just to let him ...

She will not have gone far! Depending on whether she was let out front or back, sprinkle some of her used litter (strongly smelling of her) close to the house, and some of her favourite treats. Put leaflets of her with her picture in all the houses close, then ask them later when they come home if y...

Dear Lynne, I'm so sorry for you loss. It must be so hard to lose such a cherished friend and companion. You have done all you could for him in life and he can no longer feel any pain so please don't worry that you're not being respectful by handling him. It sounds like you've made a lovely box for ...

Re: Denver - how to keep him happy inside
To be honest if he goes next door it's not a problem once the flap is removed. If the weather is as hot as predicted it won't hurt him to stay in a little longer until the removals are done and the cat flap closed. I think that's the main thing as you don't want him wandering into the house whilst t...

I think that's the thing, Crewella - I should have inspected it carefully but they look and feel so rigid. Now with the holes drilled through and the ties it does look a lot more secure - Mark I can see the door coming open accidentally and those little pegs are actually really flimsy. You must have...

Hi everyone - we think we know where Felix is and he's been seen eating some of the food I left with the house where he disappeared over the fence. He is still very scared and scarpers if a human appears. The vets are going to set a trap for him but the most important thing is making sure he stays s...

What about a good sized box on the floor. Might she see this like a work top? Maybe a plastic storage box or cardboard, even with a tray on top, maybe.. Put the bowl on the tray and if she doesn't go for it at first put the box on something to make it a little higher. Once she's eating from the bowl...

I am Crewella. It's about 15/20 minutes walk from here, but on the wrong side of a dual carriageway. The vet nurse came out with some treats and we spent 1.5 hours calling, calling on neighbours, etc. He ran up an alley and stayed fairly close to me for a while but when the other people arrived to h...

Taking Felix, the stray cat I've been nuturing, for a vet check, chip and neuter today when the cat carrier FELL APART in the street and he has run off in terror. The carrier was one of those plastic ones made of two pieces with a grill door. The whole thing is held together by only TWO plastic bolt...

I don't know if the ph is right with Johnson's baby shampoo but you can get cat shampoo on Amazon or Pets at Home, etc. It does suggest rinsing afterwards.

You have posted about three cats - if they are all your cats I would be VERY suspicious of 'enemy action'; in other words someone is responsible for these disappearances. Three cats going missing within a few days of each other is not a coincidence. I do hope you find who is responsible and find you...

Oh dear - if he's not neutered he's most likely after a female in heat - I do hope he doesn't go so far he gets lost and you get him back soon. If he's not disoriented he'll be back - then please get him neutered, for his and your sakes.

What a beautiful boy! Sounds like he could well have been accidentally 'relocated'. If you haven't done so, try putting leaflets through doors and as well as a picture of Minx, ask them to call your mobile if they had any deliveries (especially food, like Tesco, Ocado, Asda...) on Monday. My Ocado d...

I probably don't need to say it but please get out there looking for your boy; especially as it starts to get dark and it's quieter. Take some treats and shake them; sprinkle some soiled litter outside your front and back door, anything that will smell like him. Tomorrow I would suggest you start le...

Re: biting in a rescue cat
There are a number of proposed reasons for this type of behaviour - basically you are moving across the visual field and it could be a hunting impulse or a defensive strategy. However there is also the issue of how well he was socialised with humans as an infant or how early he was removed from his ...

I think the vet surgery will give you something to collect it in - or give them a ring for advice. Basically you have to shove something under the under-carriage when they squat to wee... or use special litter (I think there is such a thing). Others on the forum have managed it - thankfully I've nev...

Hello Hannah - I would agree, get your boy checked out as if he has a urine infection (which is quite common in boys) he will be in discomfort and one of the signs is inappropriate weeing. You might also try a second litter tray, or just to get a new one - sometimes the plastic starts to smell bad a...

Re: New cat introduction! Not sure what's best
I really think you should try to keep the peace by feeding closely (if that is generally peaceable) but otherwise keeping them apart until Miinx is spayed. Ask the vet how soon she will will start to lose the effects of the female hormones. As she is sexually mature at 11 months (unlike a tiny kitte...

Re: Toby is going stir crazy inside!
Most people suggest 3-4 weeks incarceration (which it is in Toby's case) but most people move at least a few miles from their previous home. I suspect after 2 weeks Toby will be quite confident to venture outside and if he does find his way back to old territory (for all you know this may have inclu...

Re: New cat introduction! Not sure what's best
How are things going with Miinx and Mia? As others have said it's important to keep things slow and as calm as possible, but vital that Miinx is spayed ASAP. Queens (fertile females) do not tolerate other females easily. When she was your only cat there was no competition, but Miinx will now see Mia...

If this has been escalating over the last 2-3 years, it sounds to me like he's become increasingly dissatisfied and uncomfortable with his life. Pardon me for asking, but does he have outside access? It sounds as if he spends all his time indoors and could be getting frustrated. What's the position ...

Re: Found Ginger Tom,Leominster,Herefordshire
If this boy is catchable please get him to a vet ASAP to check for a chip. If he was wearing a collar there's a chance he is chipped and can be reunited with his family. If not it might be that he can be fixed (some vets do this for free if the cat is stray) and it might be possible to find him a ho...
