Re: Kitty back to vets

Thanks for the reassurance everyone - it means a lot - i'm not one to keep pestering the vet but I genuinely feel somethings not right with her - I don't want to get a reputation as a fusspot with the vet but better safe than sorry as she's so precious to us just can't take any risks. It is wonderf...

Re: Kitty back to vets

Kitty is not well. Spent all last night on the settee but when we got up this morning she's licked and bitten a raw patch where the leg of the onesie is - opposite side to op. You are doing the right thing by taking her back. It may be just the onesie that is irritating her but best get the wounds ...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

That's typical - the toughest cat in the bunch is often the coward of the county when it comes down to it. In the 70s one of my moggies had a litter (smacks own wrist) and I had a very fierce black cat, Sulah, who was cornered by a four week old kitten ... We are surprised at Hendrix - perhaps it i...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour

There are times - not many - when the smell of cat poo puts a smile on your face!

So pleased she is recovering and by the sounds of things getting back to normal.

Keep us posted

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour

Do you think she could be constipated? Some painkillers can cause that, and even mild constipation on top of a sore stomach can't be much fun - not that there can be much in her bowel after the op. Agree - quite possible so a call to the vet to get some lactilose may be in order - don't wait longer...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour

That is good news. Like humans using the loo after an op can be difficult so that is the one to keep an eye on in particular. If she has not been after 3 days then seek advice from your vet. It sounds like she is in discomfort as she has eaten and came out of her box AFTER she had some meds this mor...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

5 days in and we have settled in to a routine of sorts! Jasper and Morgana Violet are certainly over their ordeal and are very much settled. Both kittens are now purring and seeking fusses and Morgana Violet, in particular, has shown more affection than the first couple of days. Of course, playing, ...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour

I would agree with Ruth The chances are that Kitty has never been to a vet before which can be a very daunting experience especially as she will no doubt be feeling some pain as a result. Medication wearing off and the wound healing will probably be making her feel uncomfortable. Try and keep her ro...

Not sure about cheese curles but worth having a good look at which human foods are NOT to be given to cats - same with plants in the garden.

some foods and plants are a definite NO NO and I have removed some plants as a result.

Re: Kitty's spaying op success

While I may have become a firm advocate of early spaying and neutering I do not believe that vaccinating, defleaing or worming at the same time is the right thing. A lot of my cats have been under the weather for a day or two after their boosters so I wouldn't really want to put them through anythi...

Mia is scared of the vacuum cleaner and Hendrix is afraid of hair dryers! - there is always something ;) My first 2 have a lot of problems but the second 2 have had a good start in life despite their mum having a difficult one. She is a gorgeous cat and will be feeling much better in 2-3 days time. Hope the vet will be checking on her within the week? Hi I am one of those people - and you will find many here - who do't believe that you "own" a cat - they "own" you! The first lady of my household, Mia was born to a feral mum and was rescued at 12 weeks old, neutered and cleaned up and placed with a couple together with all her ...

Re: Hi I'm new - not very good at technology so apologies if I've posted posted in wrong place

So good to see someone taking on a stray cat and loving them - and of course, doing the right thing by them too. Boiled chicken breast if fine as a treat and of course NO cows milk as many cats cannot tolerate it. try and stick to good quality wet complete cat food and always ensure clean fresh wate...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

No big surprises today and the 2 kittens are, understandably feeling, a little sorry for themselves. A visit to the vets for first vaccinations, an hour in a car, being separated from their mum and now 2 strange cats and 3 strange humans to contend with. New noises, smells etc! Mia has been quite re...

They may well form a defensive alliance against the kittens! Sounds as if you have a busy summer ahead - I look forward to following their progress. To a certain extent, our first objective has been achieved - Mia and Hendrix are lying together in the bedroom :o probably consoling each other ;)

Wow, an extra 2 kittens - the only thing you may find is that adopting a pair of siblings mean they might not play with Hendrix as much as a single kitten would, but there is something wonderful about a bonded pair of cats.
